Something to think about...
So - a few weeks ago - I wanted to do something to (honor) - my beautiful lady - so I bought some flowers. No, not for her (well, yes - but no) ... hang on now...:)
I bought flowers in honor of her and took them to the nursing home - and told them to give them to a female resident there - who seemed to be perhaps (neglected) in the way of visits or family more than others - and then left. When I went back later that day to inquire who they had been given too - they told me where to find the room....now - I didn't want to make her feel awkward or anything like that (and) so I wandered by her room and saw her just sitting there - so I, of course feigned ignorance and asked where the day room was...she was rather feeble and I truly could not hear her - so I had to go all the way in ... which afforded me opportunity to "sit" - and so I asked her for "directions" ... which she gave me - (and) thanked her - and told her she looked "lovely" sitting by her flowers - and she literally "beamed" ...she said some stranger had left them for her - but she was so grateful - that she had forgotten the smell of fresh flowers - and she opened right up ... and so we talked of this and that for several minutes ... then she looked at me quite knowingly and said ... "you aren't really lost are you?" ... Lol! :) What could I say - "caught" ! So we chatted for several more minutes. She appreciated those flowers so much - and since my lady was gone away that weekend - my urge to be spontaneous and buy her flowers - worked both ways - honored her and and made my new "ladyfriend" so happy! So - I pop by for a visit about once a week - a few days ago I brought a big bag of M&M's ... as she let it "slip" on the previous visit how they were her favorites and she never got them anymore....so - she got "two" bags - plain and peanut - as she didn't let it "slip" which one she preferred more! lol! She makes me smile and laugh - and it is good for me - it is good for her - and it really takes so little time out of my week...and visiting her makes me think of my grandmother - I know I always talk about my grandpa - but I loved my grandmother very much as well - and she spent some few years in that same home ...after several strokes...we visited often - but some never get that at all - and they have so much yet to give - and I was reminded of that... Last week when I was there - she was (kind enough) to remind me that "this Thursday" would be Valentine's Day... I acted shocked and said "really?" - do you like Valentine's Day? OH yesssss she said my husband always did something very special for me.... So .... how fortunate I am to have (two) beautiful ladies to spoil for Valentine's...I've been told by staff she loves red velvet cake ... so hmn...I guess its off to the bakery for something red velvet for her... (and) maybe just a little bouquet of flowers - that smell "so nice" ... She is a gem - and while I could kid myself and say I'm doing it for her to be "nice" - I am pretty sure I am the one getting the blessing out of the deal... SO ... here's my challenge - it (is) going to be Valentine's Day - so, all you great guys out there - why not buy (two) bouquets one for your lady - the other for a "new" lady - and make a new friend ... and to all your beautiful ladies on this site - I'm pretty sure there are some "older" handsome gentlemen who could use a smile from a pretty lady as well ... It means so much to them for the visit and the company even if it's 15 minutes....we spend more time than that in line at walmart - right? (and) guarantee won't be nearly as rewarding ... Just think about it ... whatya say? :) ;) |

When You've Got A Good Thing...
_________SO … at work (very early) this morning … co-worker’s wife comes to station house…and brings some sort of homemade cinnamon coffee cake (or) something like that … she brought if for her husband – but was fortunately kind enough to bring enough for all of us…it had been a fairly busy night – lots of calls – so … I don’t really think she expected any of us to be there – but we had just come in …and she said to (above mentioned co-worker) … “…Oh, hi honey…I couldn’t sleep and I wanted to bake you something nice – I know it’s been a long night…” - gave him a kiss on the cheek and left.
A more than very sweet gesture I thought – (and) thanked her – cause the aforementioned coffee cake thingy sure looked better than the stale pop tart we were probably all going to have … so, I for one was excited…lol! Yes – I know I’m rambling – I do have a point…lol! Co-worker looks at me sheepishly and says: “I just hate it when she calls me honey like that and embarrasses me…” Whoa……hang on…. I could not help myself – and my mouth engaged before I could even think to stop… (yeah…..) Just exactly what part embarrasses you … the fact that she: A.) Cares enough to get up at 2 am and make you a “homemade” coffee cake and bring it to you in the pouring rain because she loves and cares about you or B.) That she used a term of affection to address - you – because I’m confused how (any) of that is embarrassing – and then I whopped him on top of the head and said – and you didn’t even say THANK you… really???? His response: “…well you know… Me: “…no, I don’t know…” ___________And so it went… Now, I’ve never thought much about these “terms of endearment” – you know … “honey, baby, darling, sweetheart, and so forth” … (and) yes, have thought (in the past) … I just don’t think I could do that… (being a mr. tough guy)… and yep … here is the (but) … HOWEVER… (mr tough guy) seems to no longer exist when (she) says “hi honey” … I somehow after all these years turn into this huge mass of smiling mush … (what can I say…she just does that to me) … But, seriously – beyond any of that…I told him … “dude…you’ve got a good thing in your wife…do you know how many do not – or would give one day to just have someone care about them as she obviously does about you…” And, so I wondered…and I’m sure I’ve been guilty of it in my life in regards to certain things too – we just take for granted the “good things” in our life … and yeah…I know I’m a romantic and I post about (she who holds my heart) – but…you know…I just don’t want her to (not) know (ever) … that I absolutely KNOW I have a “good thing”. (and) for the record … it embarrasses me not in the least for her to call me “honey” or “baby” – or any other thing she chooses…so, yeah… I’m all done with trying to figure out why people do that…cause now…I know why…cause those same words seem to roll of my tongue ... ;)… So, if you got a “good thing” – be sure to tell them so…. As always – just my two cents this morning…as I wait for the coffee to brew and to enjoy the homemade coffee cake! |

Lehigh University student got a C+ and now seeks $1.3 million in lawsuit
Megan Thode, 27, says the grade ruined her dream of becoming a licensed professional counselor. Her civil suit alleges breach of contract and sexual discrimination. It contends that the grade was part of a broader attempt to force her to abandon the graduate degree she was pursuing.
Thode was in the last year of a master’s in counseling and human services in Lehigh’s College of Education. She needed a B in the course at issue — a fieldwork class — to qualify for another round of field work, which was required to obtain the degree. Thode’s lawyer, Richard J. Orloski, maintains that she deserved a higher grade. However, her professor, Amanda Carr, awarded her a big, fat zero for classroom participation. That zero brought her grade down. Orloski has also alleged that Carr and Nicholas Ladany (who was the director of the degree program) conspired against Thode because she and three other students were critical when they were had to search for supplemental internships midway through a semester. The suit also charges that the course professor treated Thode unfairly because of Thode’s support for gay and lesbian causes — a claim Lehigh flatly disputes. Lehigh’s lawyers allege that Thode’s behavior in class was not acceptable for someone seeking a master’s degree in counseling. On at least one occasion, they said, she used profanity in class. Another time, she broke down crying. Thode did graduate from Lehigh with a master’s degree, but not the one she aspired to have. Here it comes!
Asteroid DA14 is due to fly past Earth in a few hours. It's 50 metres across and will pass just 17,100 miles above our heads. Although there is no danger of a collision, it's still passing much closer than any other known asteroid and closer than many man made satellites.
