This is one of my favorite songs Miles recorded after he came out of retirement in the early 1980s. He got a lot of flack when he started playing again because he wouldn't play that "old timey" music (his words), but he recorded "New Blues" in an old-school way that was reminiscent of his Birth Of Cool years. He was tossin' a bone to the nay-sayers like Wynton Marsallis who said he lost his "cool." Har!
