Well the Rays continue to roll along. The Yanks/Tigers rain delay is getting annoying.

And Terry Francona is out as the Red Sox manager. Apparently, from all the news conferences tonight, it was his decision to leave as he felt the team and organization needed a new voice. I'm bummed. Didnt always agree with his decision but I thought he was a good man and a good role model.

Damn

Damn, I hope this isn't any indication how the Rays/Texas series is going to go.....

The Tampa Bay Devil Rays made quick work of the Texas Rangers, beating them 9 - 0.

This Texas fan places her head in her hands and shakes her head slowly...

Starbuck 09-30-2011 09:22 PM

Francona?

No way!! I loved Francona! I will surely miss him. Others I know think he got a better deal. I don't know about that but I do know that we'd better get a good skipper!

macele 09-30-2011 09:23 PM

gotta give it to the rays, they prepared.
matt moore worked hard, simple game. good for him.
you know he is on cloud nine.
but i don't see price or shields fairing as well.

for all those players that have never played in the post season,
way to go, ... what a feeling.

francona seems to be a gentlemen. gentlemen, like the ladies, always know when to go.
as a coach, you always want to know when it's time to move on.
and it's not always just the coaches fault. sometimes the players just don't mesh.
evidently the players aren't listening to the coach, if they need a "new voice". happens.

macele 09-30-2011 09:33 PM

i haven't read anything, if the white sox have chose a coach yet.
terry francona might go there. hope not lol. not a white sox fan.
ozzie guillen went to the florida marlins, last i heard.

So, what happened to the Rangers??? YIKES!!

And then the Tigers v. Yankees opener was rained-out! How will that be taken care of?

OK, tomorrow....

betenoire 10-01-2011 02:10 AM

looks like game one of Tigers V Skankees is going to be tomorrow, but start with the 2nd Inning 1:1 (cuz that's where they left off), game 2 will be on Sunday (they were supposed to have the day off), and Monday will still be game 3.

And I will beeee there.

I bought a Tigers touque today to wear to the game. It's got a pompom on top. I look stupid and I love it.

but i don't see price or shields fairing as well. Hi everybody. Here I come with my important baseball facts. The Rays have the Fifth best defense ever in baseball. So yes...they are prepared.

for all those players that have never played in the post season,
way to go, ... what a feeling. As they say, every child dreams of this moment.

This is the thing that sickens me about baseball. These players make more money than the manager, and then they *don't listen*....Terry Francona is also from Pittsburgh, like Jim Leyland. He's very well respected (I think through out baseball too) Terry will land on his feet.

oh yeah! you da one! ya lookin' good! i like that, very super cool.

AtLast 10-01-2011 10:04 PM

Well the Rangers came through! But what happened to the Tigers???

macele 10-02-2011 12:49 AM

i didn't watch all of the tigers/yankees game.
early in the game the tigers went for it on offense a time or two,
didn't go their way.

robinson cano and prince fielder, i would just put those two on base lol.

i think the score was 2-0 brewers. brewers had a man on second, first base
open. prince fielder comes up to bat and the diamondbacks pitch to him.
ian kennedy told coach k. gibson he wanted to pitch to fielder.
when fielder sees that they are going to pitch to him, he smiles real big ...
and then homers. dbacks didn't play smart ball right there.

the little things add up.

Starbuck 10-02-2011 01:00 AM

Tiger / Yankees

Detroit Tigers 3
New York Yankees 9

Cano's grand slam, 6 RBI backs Nova in Yankees' rain-interrupted Game 1 win.

They sure do! No, the D-backs did not play smart at all!! Damn!

Are you ready for some more baseball??!!!

It's October madness! Oye, my late partner did a lot of shopping and hanging out with her "only" friends in October... I always thought it was a really good thing that this is the only pro-sport that I am this goofy over. Love many sports, but, zi'd rather get outside and move around myself.

Starbuck 10-02-2011 03:22 PM

Francona

I really don't like that Terry Francona will no longer be managing the Red Sox next season. I mean, come on! A World Series Championship in 2000 and 2004 and the team does great all season and injuries down the line combined with lukewarm bats equals his leaving the team? He is a classy gentleman and I give him props, but WHY?? May I ask? I guess I'm still stuck on this. Perhaps we should ask Wally the Green Monster.

foxyshaman 10-02-2011 10:32 PM

So did anyone else catch the fan catch in game one of the Texas series?? I laughed out loud, I am sure my neighbors heard me. I was able to watch three games today... one I taped from yesterday.

What happened to CJ Wilson? I was not expecting him to tank.Interesting pitching. Lots of rain. Lots of "holy hanna" how did that just happen? And lots of fast forwarding through the pitch breakdown.

I have come to the conclusion that I am drawn to individual players and not the teams. I was self analyzing (not always good for a simple fox like me) and came to that conclusion. It happens that I like many of the Texas players, but am not committed to their progression through the playoffs.

I am enjoying the Phillie/Card series. It was a good game tonite. Opening pitching was ALL OVER.

I look forward to analysis (if any) and some chatter. :byebye:
