Kind of glad I’m not alone in it, but also sorry that others are feeling this too lol

I have been edgy about the orange menace who lives in a large, white house in DC. Because I over-consume news, I have been slightly cranky since Jan. 20, 1017. Because of the constant nature of this mild to moderate irritability, it doesn't take much for people in my real life to piss me off.
My new neighbor is a borrower, but not a returner. She is always trying to mooch my recreational products, as well. Moochie's a total pest, but I like her husband. I texted her a few weeks ago because I wanted to deliver a housewarming bottle of champagne. She ignored my text for two days, so I texted after that and wrote, "WTF?"
She texted back, "We were busy and couldn't be bothered." Then she texted "Don't get all upset now."
Call me fussy but, "couldn't be bothered" is not a good way for the new neighbor to stay chummy with me. I stopped messing with her.
I can't be bothered. :sigh:
And then...
One of my clients (the most adorable young woman in North America) tries to trick me into doing scutwork for her, and when I said no last time, she started pouting. Then she got passive aggressive. I hate that shit.

So, what I had to give up was having imaginary conversations with these two, where I pick the perfect, snippy words to tell them off!
I started reading affirmations about the past being over, the future being a mystery, so right now is where my power is.
I choose not to ruminate on the past and mess up my present, so I let my resentments stay in the past and I stopped having conversations with these two little pests, both in person and in my head...

How many ounces are in giant Starbucks iced latte.

Up coming reward – son's gf says after we finish cleaning the kitchen she'll bring over her new pasta maker stuff and show me how to make - ravioli, spinach noodles and something else I don't remember what. I only know we won't be able to do it all in one day. I'm really looking forward to it. I always wished for a daughter but it just wasn't meant to be. So I was really happy when my son got together with his last girlfriend imaging how nice it would be to have, hopefully, a daughter in law some day. However... well let's just say I'm very happy to see that drama is over and done with. His new gf she's really good to my son. He was always doing nice things for his ex, but I rarely saw her doing anything nice for him. This one though is really kind to him and it seems more balanced, give and take. They're talking about moving in together. :) So I'm also thinking about ways to be a good mother in law.

Baby clothes! I saw the cutest little Pittsburgh Steelers outfit that I'm just dying to buy and stuff a grand kid in.

What it's going to take to pay off my credit card. Not a lot of money – it's just the whole will power thing. :(

Retiring is on my mind ... this weekend I’m looking at places in Arizona, Colorado, and Michigan. Just looked at a nice and affordable ranch-style home in Southfield right outside Detroit. It’s perfect for me and retiring at home is very tempting, but I don’t know if I wanna deal with snow. I’d be a hermit in the winter, but I’m a homebody anyway.

I won’t retire for at least another two years, but it’s on my mind.

Something has been bugging me for a while and I don't know if it's even a real issue or if I'm inventing things to worry about (I'm good at that!) I used to think I was very good at my job but then things changed, I took on a lot more responsibility and now I'm not sure I can handle the new expectations. It's stressful and I'm already dreading the work week. :-(

Wondering what this will be like ....

Picked up an inversion table at lunch ... ordered it online last week.

Hoping it will help with sciatic pain. I said I will not have back surgery ... pain has a way of expanding one's mind to future possibilities with no closed options.

Never thought I would be hanging around like a bat ...

No sarcasm. It was a bit tongue in cheek but I'd love it because it's not the norm and that's attractive in a world of fashion lemmings. If you could pull off the whole look with bowler hat or a tweed flat cap and a plaid vest, snug white shirt with sleeves rolled up to the elbow and trousers with shined wing tips....that would be AMAZING.

And I would like pictures, please.

I got up FOUR times during the night to go to the restroom. It's not the same thing but as soon as I get into some good deep sleep, I was up again.

Then I remembered I had soup for dinner.

I'm going to have to start dehydrating myself earlier than usual because I have the bladder of a prepubescent child.

Menu planning, grocery shopping, what's going on with my sons. J - is she pregnant, is she not pregnant, are they waiting till they know for sure to say something, is it just my feeling because I would like it to be true? How much a let down it is going to be if I find out she's not? What do I need to buy, what am I'm going to eat, and when will I know?

I cannot sleep! She is in my head.

I have fallen in love with British soprano Sarah Brightman. She is multi-talented ... actress, dancer, etc. I have been watching and listening to her sing "Time to Say Goodbye" with Andrea Bocelli on youtube all night, plus interviews ... nursing a painful hard-on.

This is as bad or worse than the first time I saw Julie Andrews in The Sound of Music. :(

Storm watch and how many able bodied people with the financial means to evacuate themselves, pets and loved ones are going to stick around and make extra work for first responders who need to be able to help those who are truly in need and suffering through no fault of their own like, animals, the medically fragile, the elderly, infants and children.

RockOn 09-13-2018 02:33 AM

The last couple of days, I have been thinking the exact same as FireSignFemme about this hurricane and the people who opt to ride it out.

Lots of times it becomes a "flip a coin" in the final hours in these situations due to changes regarding a hurricane's strength/direction. Ability to leave is no longer an option. Now they are forced to ride the gamble.

Innocents (children, elderly, those with medical needs, pets, etc.) are placed in direct harm. They find themselves quickly in an extremely terrifying, life-threatening scenario. It is not their fault ... they are just unfortunate to be living with an idiot who chose to keep everyone home.

There would be a great reduction in need for first responders putting their lives on the line if everyone followed protocols of officials telling them to get out ahead of time. Yes, FireSignFemme, responsibility trickles down and now first responders are unnecessarily engulfed in danger.

"SAVE THE DOG BEFORE YOU SAVE THE IDIOT!!!" The dog did not get to make the choice to leave. He/she will be the last one helped .... if helped at all ... people tend to lose location of their pets. Makes me fighting mad!!!

The beaches here have been closed to swimming many times this summer because of great white sharks chasing seals close to the shoreline.

One man encountered a shark in August and survived.

Today a man in his mid 20's was not so lucky. This is the first death in this area from a shark encounter since 1936. There have been many close calls, many surfers getting their boards nibbled on, and a few bites over the years.

Have to wonder how much more can be done to educate people as to how to avoid contact. Signs are everywhere at the beaches. The newspaper publishes safety stuff every couple of weeks. People have been warned these sharks only need 3 feet of water to maneuver. They have also been warned if they see seals in the area to get out of the water. They have put up swimming area barriers which are routinely ignored. We have planes, during the season, scanning the beach areas - they are looking for sharks to tag but also warn lifeguards of problems in the area.

Someday, maybe, people will learn sharks are just doing their thing, in their own environment, and are not looking to eat people. Their eyesight is so poor, they hunt by movement in the water without knowing whether what they are hunting is a seal, a human, a boat, or a toyota.

Smh.

Warning:
This is an extrodinarily l-o-n-g post ... you make want to skip over this one.

I just got a little upcharge rush!

I was about to take my 3 dogs out for last pottie call for the evening. I had already walked the backyard checking to see if anything dangerous was crawling around. Yard floodlights and patio lights were both on plus I had on a headlight and flashlight in hand. All clear for the moment. Things can change quickly and I know this. Best I can do.

Came back in, let Kevie and Jennifer out. Jeffrey has to walk on a leash after dark now. If he sees a coyote in the woods, he takes off after it. Anyway, I got Jeffrey's leash secure, opened the back door thirty seconds behind Kevie and Jennifer's exit, happened to look down and in crawls a snake. My reflexes automagically went into immediate overdrive. Jeffrey's nose was going straight down for it. I kicked Jeffrey's head away with my left foot as I yelled "get back" and at the same time as I was kicking him, I jumped up off the floor and came down on the snake's head with my right foot. Then brought my left foot back over and down to join the grind.

The snake was only a foot long. It is so mashed and torn up, I am unable to identify it. Merrell shoes with hard-core grips will do that.

I was so sleepy just before we went outside. Right now I am sitting in a chair beside the bed attempting to calm this adrenalin rush. All three of them are on the bed asleep.

Proved right tonight. I always thought Jeffrey would react the way he did tonight if he encountered a snake."Stuck that handsome face right down in it." Damn, I was so scared for him. I know Kevie will run the opposite direction ... I have witnessed this. Jennifer would probably back away. I hope she would but I don't really know for certain.

The thing that raced into my mind when I first saw the snake was right now timber rattlesnakes are on the move. It was even mentioned on local news very recently. I already knew before I saw the news article because several friends have killed one in the last three weeks.

I only kill cottonmouths, copperheads, corals, timber rattlers and diamondback rattlers ... whatever ... it was inside my home. I had no time to see if it was venomous or non. And still don't know. I reacted before it had the opportunity to harm Jeffrey or hide.

That incident shook me because of Jeffrey's close encounter.

I need a qualude or five.LOL! Only kidding ... people in recovery don't get to do qualudes. I doubt they even make them anymore. Those were 70s adventures. Our secret! ;)
