Watching little kids fish today. What a treat that was... lol "Boy germs" mixed with "fish yuck" chasing "Girls that don't belong here" .... Laugh and shake my head for a good hour. I'd like to see them again in 10 years...

Once a decade whether I need to or not...lol!

Today I was at a cafe, zoned out with my earphones in and surfing online...

Out of nowhere, the hipster dude who works there came up to me and said, "what kind of cookie do you want? a queer girl just left but she thinks your cute and bought you a cookie...we're all out of vegan chocolate chip..."

I'm sure he thought I didn't speak English b/c I had the Stuck On Stupid face...this kind of thing never happens to me! I finally started to laugh out loud...

Peanut Butter.
Thanks girl, ya kinda made my day :-)

My neighbor, Sonia. I was sitting on the porch with the dogs this evening, and Sonia & Francisco's windows were wide open. There was a huge group of women, and there was a lot of loud laughter going on, a lot of it was coming from Sonia.

It caught my attention because, I know about all that Sonia is going through right now. Two weeks ago, her husband, Francisco, had a mild stroke. He is unable to go to work, and now needs open heart surgery for a second time, he will likely lose his job because of this. Their daughter is chronically ill, and Sonia has stayed home with her for 15 years, she has little to no work history, and will have to seek employment to support their family.

Despite all of this (and other issues I won't go into), Sonia constantly wears a big smile, and gives a little bit of herself to everyone in her life, and even to complete strangers. She knows of my medical issues, and that I live alone, and the other day she said that she wanted me to have her phone number, just in case I ever needed her to come help me. When my dogs were having a blast barking at another neighbor's dogs, she came out to make sure they weren't frantic because something was wrong at my house.

So, to hear her thoroughly enjoying herself this evening, really made me smile.

Smiling....and a few tears..

Watching my sweet niece walk across the stage and graduate with her Bachelors Degree. I love that awesome girl!

Spending the rest of the day with family, lunch at the YardHouse. Then over to Dave and Busters to play games and have drinks. I'm telling you, air hockey was never that fun before!

Then over to the movies, to find the last 6 seats in 5th row. Huge and loud on the screen, Ironman 3. However, after consuming many drinks, my sister-in-law and I both fell asleep. I just don't know how I dozed thru that loud action pack movie! The parts I did see, were good!

Oh, and her sister also graduated today, with her law degree.
Now I'm waiting for my phone to re charge. Too many pictures were taken!

It was a very good day, I will be smiling for a long time. Memories in my heart:)

Four years later and kiddo let me paint her nails..
Questing with her in World of Warcraft and her thanking me at bed time..
Shopping at Tractor Supply and giggling over cute baby clothes...not a country or city girl particularly, but have made more an effort to be country to fit in.. :|
Foot massages always make me a happy girl, but I love to be touched..
A snoring kitty at the foot of the bed who rolled over so I would rub her tummy...hello loud purrs!

Things that made me smile today ......

Building of anticipation of things to come ...
Knowing it is only 5 more days till W/we are face to face ...

Memories of last night's play party ...
Memories of the most beautiful scenes ...
Recalling how it felt to share those feelings and experiences with Hym ...

Beautiful things are coming ...
Beautiful experiences are about to be had ...

Eager ... Nervous ... Excited ... Hopeful ... Ready!!!

I finally hung my new Mezuzah case, a custom made TARDIS. Wonderful artist that seems to be able to make a Mezuzah case based on any design, including Carl Sagan!

While at the pond I heard a fawn crying out for his Mom. He cried about 5 minutes, and she must have found him. Though it was a destress call, where's my Mommy, it is the sweetest little sound.

laruss 05-19-2013 07:18 PM

Today was a day for smiling...
Garden work, driving around with my girlfriend to look at other peoples gardens, taking my pup Diesel for a car ride, he loves that, cooking and eating dinner outside with a glass of wine in hand, starting the day with cuddle time.

nekohl 05-19-2013 07:44 PM

My boy Fruitcake always makes me smile! He loves popcorn and will stare at me until I give in. When I toss it in the air he always catches it. When I give it to him by hand he takes it ever so gently from my fingers.

also, the laundry is done. That's good for a smile!

A small patch of blue sky. I hope it follows me around for a little while. Because the alternative is looming.

What makes Me smile every day?

The mere thought of her being in My life - thoughts of this past weekend spending time with her.

Having a good first meeting with the TV Station. Everyone seems pretty awesome.

Making plans to have dinner with My Mom this coming weekend.

TheMerryFairy 05-20-2013 10:52 AM

My smile has carried over into today *S

I had a great evening and it resulted in a comfortable sleep with wonderful dreams. I woke up refreshed and smiling.

The sun was out and I got to turn the radio up in my car on the way to work this morning to sing.

I texted a few friends midway through my morning and had a couple of laughs

I enjoyed my lunch sitting in the shade of a tree at a park then meditated.

Oh and when I was finally coming home? I picked up a friend, drove to get a coffee milkshake and watched the windmills.

Now I get to float in daydreamy thoughts and multi task

When Marine Sgt. Ross Gundlach served as a dog handler in Afghanistan, he told the yellow lab who was his constant companion that he'd look her up when he returned home.

"I promised her if we made it out of alive, I'd do whatever it took to find her," Gundlach said.

On Friday, he made good on that vow with help from some sentimental state officials in Iowa who know how to pull off a surprise.

Since leaving active duty to take classes at the University of Wisconsin this summer, Gundlach, of Madison, Wis., had been seeking to adopt 4-year-old Casey.

The 25-year-old learned Casey had finished her military service and had been sent to the Iowa State Fire Marshal's Office, where she was used to detect explosives.

Gundlach wrote to State Fire Marshal Director Ray Reynolds, explaining the connection he felt with the dog. He even has a tattoo on his right forearm depicting Casey with angel wings and a halo, sitting at the foot of a Marine.

"He's been putting a case together for the last two months, sending me pictures ... it just tugged on your heart," Reynolds said.

Reynolds decided to arrange a surprise. First, he got in touch with the Iowa Elk's Association, which agreed to donate $8,500 to buy another dog for the agency.

"We have a motto in our association that as long as there are veterans, the Elks will strive to help them," Iowa Elks Association president Tom Maher said.

Then, Reynolds came up with a ruse to get Gundlach to Des Moines, telling Gundlach he needed to come to the state Capitol to plead his case in front of a "bureaucratic oversight committee."

When Gundlach arrived with his parents, Reynolds told them the meeting had been delayed and invited them to join an Armed Services Day celebration in the rotunda. There, hundreds of law enforcement officers, military personnel and civilians were seated, keeping the secret — until they brought out Casey.

When Gundlach saw Casey, he put his head in his hands and cried. She licked his face, wagging her tail furiously.

"It was a total surprise," he said. "I owe her. I'll just try to give her the best life I can."

His father, Glen Gundlach, seemed just as surprised.

"It's unbelievable ... the state of Iowa, I love 'em," he said.

Gov. Terry Branstad officially retired Casey from active duty during Friday's ceremony, thanking the dog for a "job well done."

During the 150 missions they performed together, Gundlach said Casey never missed an explosive — she caught three before they could be detonated. He credits her for making it back home safely.

"I wouldn't be here ... any kids I ever had wouldn't exist if Casey hadn't been here," he said.

After a trip to Verizon, where we thought we might buy a tablet (to make my store ordering easier) we left without it. I won't go on about the details but I was NOT nice (BS scammers and so they were told) and unfortunately my girl was with me. Then we stopped at Home Depot for a lawn tractor battery and blade for my trimmer but they couldn't help me either! I have to say............ I was having a bad day!! As I was grumbling on our way home, my girl smiled, took my hand and said, "Not many girls can say they have their own personal curmudgeon." Yep, she's right on both accounts and always knows how to bring out a smile and the best in this curmudgeon.
