I sit here envious. Not for things you may think, but envious of the night sky that gets to fall over you every night. I'm envious of the pillow that gets to feel your cheek rest against it. I'm mostly envious of your bed and blanket, because although I am here, your bed is there and it gets to hold you throughout the night. I've sat here awake, dreaming of you. Dreaming about watching you sleep and what it would feel like to gently lay beside you.... to watch you breathe every breath.To see you so peaceful.... I'm envious, because I am not there.
I think about it often; touching you. Just to run my fingers across yours, or to feel your lips touch mine. Maybe even feel the heat of your breath against my neck. I yearn for it. But mostly, I think about holding your hand, and never wanting to let go. |
