:bringcoffee: Sorry for going AWOL last night...lots going on. I won't be on late today or tomorrow until the evening either....going to granny's where there is no internet (or TV either).

Breakfast? How about some nice cheese omelets with crispy hashbrowns, and a little fresh fruit salad. :eating:

Hope you all have a great day...and, if I don't get back before then, I'll be on tomorrow night. :rrose:

:lips: baby...hope you're still :alarm: :love1:

have fun at your Granny's house.

having no internet, no t.v. reminds me of when i went to Costa Rica. we stayed in small cabins in the jungle and there was several teenagers there. i thought to myself, man, they're gonna be really bored out here. nope, they was all walkin around with the Itouch, portable dvd players..etc etc. lol.

today i need to dust my whole apartment and catch up on a big pile of filing... blech!

i hear ya about the interrupted weekends. i'm suppose to only work one weekend every 6 weeks. but this time of year people are on vacation and I have to work more weekends then usual. last time i worked a weekend for someone else, i left my house at 7 am Saturday morning and finally got home 11 pm Sunday evening. with only having a couple hours or so here and there off work. nice paycheck but i was exhausted for a day or so.

lipstixgal 07-17-2010 03:52 AM

Good Morning all how has everyone been? Sleep good I hope!! Well here's what's for breakfast, muffins and croissants, bagels, lox and cream cheese with Bermuda onion, strong coffee and tea :tea: for everyone!!

Zimmeh 07-17-2010 05:13 AM

Good Morning Everyone,

Anyone have any Bailey's Irish Cream I can add to my coffee?? My roommate has spoiled her little boy so bad, that he hasn't stopped crying since she left for work this morning. My nieces and nephews have never done this. He is used to sleeping in her bed with her, and since she has had the last week off, she has let him sleep in her bed all night. I am about to call her and tell her to come back and get him and take him to his grandmother's house.

I am off to go loose my mind thanks to her,

Zimmy

Morning, kitchen dwellers (f)

Mr. Strutt and I took Katie to Busch Gardens yesterday and she had a blast. The weather was great (hot, but no rain) and I got a bit of a sunburn, but nothing too serious. We didn't get back until 10:30 last night and my daughter passed out cold on the way home. That was one seriously tired little girl :beddybye:

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend (f)

Crumbs I wish it was that hot here!

Painkillers for a neck that has no discs left between the vertebrae and a shoulder that has large calcium deposits floating around in it. Not nice at all.

JustJo 07-17-2010 05:25 PM

Hi everyone :)

Finally home, sitting on the couch with my feet up. Sounds like everyone has been busy...hope you're taking care of yourself Incubus...that sounds very painful. :seeingstars:

Scoote is right, I have a crazy story...

My mother is terrified of bats...and lives in a big old farmhouse in the country. I woke up early this morning and went downstairs to use the bathroom...only to see a sheet wadded up along the bottom of the door and a sticky note on the door that said "Do Not Open Bat Inside."

Went to find my mother...who told me that the bat had gotten inside about 2 a.m. and she had trapped it in the bathroom and, rather than open the window and let him find his way outside, sprayed the room full of Raid bug killer. She said the bat was in the shower, laying on the floor...and was waiting until a decent hour to call the man down the road to come remove him.

I offered to take care of it for her (cuz I'm not terribly worried about bats). So...I tiptoe into the bathroom and find a tiny brown bat huddled on the floor of the shower...about as big as a mouse with wings.

I folded up a hand towel, tossed it over him and scooped it under so I didn't have to touch him...walked down the road and went to toss him into the grass. Well...he wasn't dead, and grabbed onto the towel so his wings were spread out, but he wasn't moving. I laid the towel on the grass in the shade, just in case he could make his way to a safe spot. Meanwhile, my mother is halfway up the road jumping and shrieking.

Well...at breakfast I hear the whole story...evidently there were 2 bats that got inside. One found its way out the door, but the other got trapped in the bathroom with her and she sprayed him, put the sheet and the sign on the door....and then went out and spent the rest of the night in her car...leaving my son asleep on the couch and me asleep upstairs.

Yes, that's my mama.

I went back to check on him later, and he was gone...hope she didn't poison him completely. Poor thing was probably just looking for a mosquito snack :eating:

lipstixgal 07-17-2010 05:34 PM

That's a funny story Jo and the poor bat was sprayed with raid probably just knocked him out that's all. It takes a lot of poison to kill a bat. Anyway, glad to hear you are home safe and sound!! Have a nice night

Zimmeh 07-17-2010 07:25 PM

Good Evening Everyone,

Well four sunburns and six weeks worth of memories later, my oldest niece and nephew left around 6pm to go home with their mom. My oldest niece, Hailey, loved all of the Hello Kitty stuff I bought her. Her best present came from her dad, he bought her a digital camera. I am sad they left, but I know they will hopefully be back down at Christmas time. My ex sister in law, kept picking up my 19 month old nephew and playing with him.

I am exhausted and headed to bed,

Leaving some Abuletia hot cocoa for anyone who would like some,

Zimmy

lipstixgal 07-18-2010 04:53 AM

Good Morning KItcheneers!! Its breakfast time. It's hot so how about some warm oatmeal with fresh fruit served on the side. Bagels and croissants with butter, cream cheese and all the fixins', stong coffee and tea and sodas and spring water to cool people off!! Have a great day all!! And some nice dark chocolate too.:chocolate:

morningstar55 07-18-2010 05:33 AM

mawning kitchen dwellers... [_]D

well here i am enjoying a nice quiet sunny morning on the horsey farm in ... Yancyville,NC .....
JustJo....... that was a funny story...... lol i remember living way out in the boonies of western NY.. on the edge of a small town there.... and lived in a nice A frame home that over looked a large pond....
well we had bats that lived up in the peek of the roof....... one day found one hanging from my living room curtains.... soo i did like you... threw a towel over it and released it outside.
im not afraid of such things..... not even snakes.... but now spiders.... well thats a different story.. lol
now in the city , my mom few months ago had one in her bedroom, how it got in there is a mystery, no open windows it was feb or march i think.
soo here is my brother coming to her rescue , wearing his fire man gear.. and trying to hit this poor thing with a broom.... he did kill it . and gave it to animal control.. geezz.... i told her he should of just threw a towel over it.
and it was small as well.

good mornin everyone. hope y'all are doing alright.

i spent the day with the family yesterday, had a good time. while we was at a store, i took my 9 months old nephew and we went on our own and looked at tools. he was droolin when we got there. well, he drools all the time so never mind. lol.

have a good day everyone

lipstixgal 07-18-2010 08:05 AM

Well Its late mornig for me I've been up since like 6 am Yes Morningstar the story Jo told was funny, I didn't know that upstate NY had bats, that's interesting but you know that they do carry rabies which is very serious. I guess I don't know what to do if I saw a bat or had one in my house. I guess I would call the fire dept too because I would be scared to get rid of it!! lol

Zimmeh 07-18-2010 08:30 AM

Good morning Everyone,

Hope you all had a good weekend. I have no plans for today, I am trying stay out of the sun.

Have fun and I am leaving iced tea for everyone,

Zimmy

Daktari 07-18-2010 08:48 AM

Good afternoon Kitcheneers

Thank-you Jo I am looking after myself and keeping myself medicated. Hopefully this flare-up will not last too long.

My housemate came home yesterday for the first time in weeks. It's been good to see her and catch up on what she's been doing. She builds straw-bale houses so it's always interesting hearing about where she's been and what she's built.

JustJo 07-18-2010 09:30 AM

Good morning everyone :) (and afternoon to Incubus)

Bit of a leisurely Sunday here...the kitties had their usual can of tuna to start off Sunday morning, so there's a lot of purring and face washing going on now. They all share a plate full and are quite polite about it...just 4 little buddies when there's tuna involved! :giggle:

Lots of bats here Lips, but they're tiny...and wonderful little bug hunters. I actually like to watch them swoop around and catch all the mosquitos and such. They can get rabies, it's true...but you would see them acting strange, like flying around in the daytime if they were. My son loves bats...one evening a couple years ago we were at a friend's house for a BBQ and there were about 50 bats swooping around catching bugs as soon as it got dark. My son...about 10 at the time...went out and stood on top of their woodpile so he was up higher, and standing in the middle of the area where the bats were working. They swooped and flew all around him, coming within inches but never touching him. He was delighted. :cheesy:

I'm with you morningstar...I can deal with snakes, and bats and rodents don't bother me...but spiders (and grasshoppers...heck, bugs in general) creep me out! Not sure I'd wear bat earrings though darkcrystal :giggle:

I'll be back later....but hoping you all have a good day. :rrose:
:lips: baby...I love you :stillheart:
