This song has always been dear to me.....
Peace Train -- Cat Stevens Now I've been happy lately, thinking about the good things to come And I believe it could be, something good has begun Oh I've been smiling lately, dreaming about the world as one And I believe it could be, some day it's going to come Cause out on the edge of darkness, there rides a peace train Oh peace train take this country, come take me home again Now I've been smiling lately, thinking about the good things to come And I believe it could be, something good has begun Oh peace train sounding louder Glide on the peace train Come on now peace train Yes, peace train holy roller Everyone jump upon the peace train Come on now peace train Get your bags together, go bring your good friends too Cause it's getting nearer, it soon will be with you Now come and join the living, it's not so far from you And it's getting nearer, soon it will all be true Oh peace train sounding louder Glide on the peace train Come on now peace train Now I've been crying lately, thinking about the world as it is Why must we go on hating, why can't we live in bliss Cause out on the edge of darkness, there rides a peace train Oh peace train take this country, come take me home again Oh peace train sounding louder Glide on the peace train Come on now peace train Yes, peace train holy roller Everyone jump upon the peace train Come on peace train Yes, it's the peace train ~Theo~ :winky::listening::bouquet: |
Oh Very Young -- Cat Stevens Oh very young What will you leave us this time You're only dancing on this earth for a short while And though your dreams may toss and turn you now They will vanish away like your daddy's best jeans Denim Blue fading up to the sky And though you want them (HIM)to last forever You know they (HE) never will You know they (HE) never will And the patches make the goodbye harder still Oh very young What will you leave us this time There'll never be a better chance to change your mind And if you want this world to see a better day Will you carry the words of love with you Will you ride the great white bird into heaven And though you want to last forever You know you never will You know you never will And the goodbye makes the journey harder still Oh very young What will you leave us this time You're only dancing on this earth for a short while Oh very young What will you leave us this time ~Theo~ :winky::listening::bouquet: |

The Boxer -- Simon and Garfunkle I am just a poor boy though my story's seldom told I have squandered my resistance for a pocketful of mumbles, such are promises. All lies and jest, still a man hears what he wants to hear And disregards the rest, hmmmm When I left my home and my family, I's no more than a boy In the company of strangers In the quiet of the railway station, runnin' scared, laying low, Seeking out the poorer quarters, where the ragged people go, Looking for the places only they would know. Li la li... Asking only workman's wages, I come lookin' for a job, But I get no offers, Just a come-on from the whores on 7th Avenue. I do declare, there were times when I was so lonesome I took some comfort there. La la la... now the years are rolling by me, they are -[rockin evenly]- i am older than i once was and younger than i'll be that's not unusual. no it isnt strange after changes upon changes we are more or less the same after changes we are more or less the same Li la li... And I'm laying out my winter clothes and wishing I was gone, goin' home Where the New York City winters aren't bleedin' me, leadin' me, goin' home. In the clearing stands a boxer, and a fighter by his trade And he carries the reminders of every glove that laid him down or cut him 'Til he cried out in his anger and his shame I am leaving, I am leaving, but the fighter still remains. Li la li... ~Theo~ :winky::listening::bouquet: |

From "The Big C":
|
I see your dancing, laughing, naked sweet and pretty face and the promise burning brightly in your crystal-shot eyes your savage, and violent flesh, the cut that bleeds, the kiss that stings we're shooting up stars and desperate snows that fall from shimmering skies, so Take my hand and lead me to the garden of delight take my hand and lead me to the garden of delight Revelation is laid, and reflects on the windswept liquid mirror of this breathless whirl, this happy death this elegance and charm the treasured and precious first fleeting touch of a gracious stranger enchant me and entrance me I know you can do me no harm, so Take my hand and lead me to the garden of delight take my hand and lead me to the garden of delight We're playing with fire, dancing in the flames and we're covered in burns that may never heal and angels may come, and angels may go but it's heaven on earth when you Take my hand and lead me to the garden of delight take my hand and lead me to the garden of delight. |

KOWH AM/FM (soul, jazz, gospel)
One of my favorite ladies. Turned on to her when this album came out; played this tune on my show...with Loleatta Holloway, Carmen McCrae, Billy Paul, etc. The black audience (as it was called then) was my favorite. The black community loved the music and they were always appreciative. Here's remembering Michael (program Director, AM) Richard, Program Director, FM, German Womack, jock, Irving, jock, Jimmy, jock, Elva, jock. Richard and I were the only whites on staff. On my birthday, the staff recorded Happy Birthday in place of a commercial. It went out over the air and within an hour, people in the black community sent tons of food. Those years were some of the best times of my life....back in the day.
