Hola cj I hope you figure out your way around the place and have a lovely time here. There's always plenty of :tea: :bringcoffee: :cooking: and possibly even :barmartini: if you want to sit a spell and chill out with the lovely folks here in the Kitchen.

Fewer painkillers today and more :flyingweed: (there really should be a pipe tokin' smiley) means I'm in pain but relaxed (which helps loads) and smiling anyway :groucho:

Good Afternoon Everyone,

Hope you all are having a good day so far. For some reason, Elijah, my friend's little boy, won't sleep in his crib. His mother isn't sure why and has been letting him sleep with her. She asked me lastnight what she should do, and I told her, that she needed to stop letting him sleep with her or she was in for a world of trouble once her second baby is born next month. She looked at me and said ok, but ended up taking him in her room. I put him in his crib for his nap today and took a shower..When I was done, he was sound asleep in it.

I am off to find some iced coffee, this sunburn is killing me.

See you all in a bit,

Zimmy

Zimmy its no good to put babies in the bed with you when they are little. Now your friend is going to have a hard time with two babies, one newborn and one a toddler, its a good thing that you put him in his crib to sleep for a nap he needs to get used to the crib!!

I guess I don't know what to do if I saw a bat or had one in my house. I guess I would call the fire dept too because I would be scared to get rid of it!! lol

when i lived in Kentucky there was several bats. we use to throw items up in the air and watch em fly right towards that item to catch it. they have amazing flyin and eyesight skills

Thank-you Jo I am looking after myself and keeping myself medicated. Hopefully this flare-up will not last too long.

My housemate came home yesterday for the first time in weeks. It's been good to see her and catch up on what she's been doing. She builds straw-bale houses so it's always interesting hearing about where she's been and what she's built.

hope ya get feelin better soon.

that would be awesome to hear, from your housemate about buildin straw-bale houses.

Bit of a leisurely Sunday here...the kitties had their usual can of tuna to start off Sunday morning, so there's a lot of purring and face washing going on now. They all share a plate full and are quite polite about it...just 4 little buddies when there's tuna involved! :giggle:

Lots of bats here Lips, but they're tiny...and wonderful little bug hunters. I actually like to watch them swoop around and catch all the mosquitos and such. They can get rabies, it's true...but you would see them acting strange, like flying around in the daytime if they were. My son loves bats...one evening a couple years ago we were at a friend's house for a BBQ and there were about 50 bats swooping around catching bugs as soon as it got dark. My son...about 10 at the time...went out and stood on top of their woodpile so he was up higher, and standing in the middle of the area where the bats were working. They swooped and flew all around him, coming within inches but never touching him. He was delighted. :cheesy:

I'm with you morningstar...I can deal with snakes, and bats and rodents don't bother me...but spiders (and grasshoppers...heck, bugs in general) creep me out! Not sure I'd wear bat earrings though darkcrystal :giggle:

I'll be back later....but hoping you all have a good day. :rrose:
:lips: baby...I love you :stillheart:

sounds really cool about the bats flyin all around your son

Durrrrrr are you from Florida?? It would be nice to ride your bike in the afternoon!! How was everyone's weekend?? good I hope oh g-d its hot here in NJ/NYC been in the high nineties everyday!! No pool for me, there is none at least none that I belong to you have to buy a membership and its expensive. What's for dinner in the kitchen tonight? Jo will probably come in and put some food out. I want Ice Cream from Carvel, a cone chocolate with sprinkles hehe I'm just a kid at heart!!

JustJo 07-18-2010 05:54 PM

Good evening everyone :)

Are we still playing "what does durrrrrrrr do for a living?" :giggle: I'm guessing...mechanic! Am I close?

It's a :bbq: evening...so chicken kabobs, potato salad, roasted corn (and yes, I am gonna dip it in melted butter) and a nice green salad.

Carvel ice cream sounds fantastic for dessert....I love their ice cream, in a chocolate dipped waffle cone. Yum! :girleating:

Hope you all had a great day. I've been working on a bit more packing and sorting, but slowly today...haven't been sleeping much and just not feeling well. In fact, I might just go make a nice cup of :tea: and see if that helps. :)

Hugs to all...and :lips: for my baby...

Good Evening Everyone,

I am off to Target or Publix in the morning to find either the Blue Goo that Jo Jo told me about or this stuff called Yes to Carrots brand Aloe Vera body butter. Two days of being in the sun and my shoulders are as red as a Coke can and very painful, especially when you have a 20 month old little boy pinching you...

Carvel Ice Cream Cakes are good and I can find them at the Publix Grocery Stores. I love having Dairy Queen when I can find one, and I allow myself to slip a little on my diet.

I am off to bed in a few and I will see you all in the morning,

Zimmy

OMG that sucks about your A/C...the A/C on my floor of the library is barely limping along. We are in the bid stage for a replacement- and we are only able to replace b/c we got stimulus funds....our service area is heavily Tea Party so i am having a lot of fun- when they complain about the heat- telling them " it's OK- Obama's buying you a new one!" then they are happy and pissed off at the same time and you can see their brain crumble a lil

I would love to see this dark crystal! :giggle:

Good morning kitchen dwellers :)

:linecook: Breakfast this morning is waffles with sliced strawberries and whipped cream, eggs cooked to order, bacon and sausage. There's also some fresh pineapple all sliced up and ready to grab. Enjoy! :eating:

:bringcoffee: Don't worry, I didn't forget the coffee! :cheesy: and also :tea: for those that prefer it.

I'm still in shock that Scoote loves me more than the color orange  ...and also that she's not eating much :chocolate: anymore. That's big stuff!

On a very heartwarming note...my father's side of the family (about 100 of them down in FL) are conservative, Baptist sort of folks...and they're all on my facebook. They know Scoote is my partner, and were very welcoming, inviting her and her son to our family reunion and saying they couldn't wait to meet them. Well...last night, I sent FB friend suggestions so that they could connect with her...and she hasn't seen it yet, but she's got more than a dozen new family members already today, with more to come no doubt. :giggle: Hope she's ready for that! :lips: love you baby...

Hope you all have a great day :rrose:

Good Afternoon Everyone,

I am still sick from my sunburn and I am thinking of a light lunch. How about sandwiches and a salad for lunch? I am leaving some turkey, ham, roast beef, assorted cheeses, mayo, regular mustard and spicy brown mustard, veggies, assorted breads, croutons for the salad, and assorted salad dressings...Iced tea, iced coffee, milk, juice, soda's and plenty of water to keep us cool...

Enjoy and I am off to lie down and hope I feel better...

Good Afternoon Durrrrrr,

I tried this, but the sunburn on my shoulders is so bad, that it made it hurt worse. My best friend should be home soon, so I won't have to babysit her little boy much longer so I am going to Target or Publix to find something..

Thank you for the info....
