My automatic response to the unendurable is to try to endure it.

What is the last social lie you told?

Hmmmm. Probably think about that question cuz I'm not used to doing for me.

What would you like to be doing right at this moment in time?

Nomad 09-28-2012 05:52 AM

i'd like to be curled up on the couch, drinking coffee, having a good conversation with someone i care about.

A woman I care a lot about. I told her I couldn't continue with what we had under the circumstances we have.

What names do you love to be called?

-babygirl (i see it as an acknowledgment of who i am more than anything else)

- s***t***y (something someone else used to call me. no, it's not dirty. it's just personal)

-*** (the name my dad used to call me)

do you call random strangers "Dear", "Hon", "Sweetie" or whatever and, if so, WHY?!?!?! (finding this east coast phenomenon a difficult thing to cope with)

I have MANY favorite foods.

I love breakfast foods - anything with bacon is a treat!

I am the kind of person who has a favorite food at every restaurant I go to. At Outback Steakhouse, its the Victoria's Filet. At Olive Garden, it is the Fettuccini Alfredo. At McDonalds, its the cheeseburger with no mustard.

I love things like cheese sandwiches, oatmeal cookies and above all else a Coca-Cola. Sometimes my meal will consist only of a Coke and that is perfectly fine with me cause I'd rather have one as to not!!!

QUESTION: Whats your favorite sports team?

Thanks,
Jules with numbers

No one answered this one. Yes, as a matter of fact, as a consequence of growing up in a home where everything was my fault or I was scapegoated for it; I tend to apologize too much-even when something is not actually my fault.

True or false: have you ever faked an orgasm and why?

of course. why? because i'm a woman and it's practically required by my culture that a woman never bruise the ego of someone who has no idea how to blow her skirt up. (and G*d forbid you should offer them help)

have you ever faked interest in a partner's family?

I laughed when I read this because it is so true. Although now that I am older I have to say I don't bother.

No, I will be polite if needed, but I won't fake interest. I only had one partner this was really an issue with, I just never had anything to do with them.

Have you ever done something that shook your trust in yourself and how do/did you recover from that?

yes. and i havent recovered. sometimes we dont recover, we just adapt to the shift in our perception of ourselves. when we cant adapt or learn to embrace the truth about ourselves we're forced to choose survival rather than living. in the last 2 months i've discovered that the choices i've made have insured my survival but not an actual life. that truth is more painful and more disconcerting than my original mistake. an interesting study in karma. put another way, i got what i deserve.

have you found that you are more or less tolerant as you get older? why do you think that is?

ahk 09-28-2012 08:15 PM

I think it depends on the situation, really. But lately, I find myself more tolerant. Why? Because its just not worth it sometime, I think why would I bother to let myself get all worked up over something that probably won't matter next week.

If you could change one thing in your life -- what would it be?

Tolerant....more. Picky....much more. I seem to find annoying things and behaviors alot more as I have gotten older. But....I tend to step back and think what has made this person the way they are. And be more accepting of whatever it is that annoys me. I've come to realize that my way of thinking, apparently isn't the only way. I think it has just come with more exposure to differences AND an understanding that I have many flaws as well and that doesn't make me "less than".

Have you ever taken a friendship to the next level, then been able to recover the friendship because you probably should have just been friends all along?

Less tolerant of BS... Because as I age it becomes ever more apparent that time is finite. I want to spend as much of that time as possible with those who treat me and my loved ones authentically and with respect.

No. Tried, always ended up being awkward for someone or another.

That while it might seem great from the outside, sometimes, often really, I feel that being considered attractive by many is not all it's cracked up to be.

Do you have a particular fear that you know is irrational yet it still holds you back?

"irrational: adjective; from Latin irrationalis; in - "not" and rationalis - "reason".

1. without the faculty of reason; deprived of reason.
2.without or deprived of normal mental clarity or sound judgment.
3.not in accordance with reason; utterly illogical: irrational arguments.
4.not endowed with the faculty of reason"

given a clear definition, yes. bugs that insist on suddenly occupying space that belongs to me at that moment (ditto spiders, bats, rodents, teenagers and perfume models)

i also have one or two fears that do not involve a lack of reason but a lack of cojones. sue me. :huhlaugh:

do you deprive yourself of something vital to your well being and if so, why?

I don't know if I offer it or simply work through the issue and take it as part of the whole difficult process. Excellent question thank you.

How often do you set the "ego" on the shelf.

Typically I don't/can't. Sometimes if I can right the wrong, it helps. Often I just try to learn from the mistake, and that helps me accept what I did poorly before.

How long do you go without sexual release?

How do you find that balance between selfish and self care?

Not sure on that one I'm a pretty giving person. I usally think of the other person needs first . I have learned not to be as giving as before but it's hard for me lol.

I don't think so --
but I don't wear specs

I communicate when I am sad and/or do art and/or eat and/or sleep. But never all at the same time.

Did you relax any today?
