I guess you could say this was my first "motorcycle" because it had a slide button that you could turn on a sound that made it sound like a motorcycle. I loved this thing! |
So these weren't exactly toys.........they were things I collected...would love to have them again they were so cute,
They were called Japanese Shibaten Dolls - the myth was late at night you might hear them calling to you to wrestle with them. The paper that came with them told you to never accept because you'd be wrestling the rest of your life lol Being the gullible child I was......I was sure I heard them *wink* (oh Wait I'm still gullible) needless to say I never accepted their offer. Below are a couple of pics I was able to pull off the internet - I had these dolls for so long well into my adulthood, I wish I knew where they ended up :( http://www.dollprice.com/images/12032007/l8138.jpg |

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/pr...S7KS9dwjvHcHis I took this doll everywhere I went, dragging her along with one arm. https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon...._AC_SX425_.jpgI played with her so much, the voice box stopped working and I still loved her as much. I just bought this for my grandson's fifth birthday. I loved it when I was his age and am hoping he does as much. |

I think it was my spring horse. I would put Wagon Train on and ride along with the cast. The older models didn't have stirrups so I took a short piece of rope and made loops on each end and threw it over the saddle area. Voila.....stirrups!
Oh and let's not forget my Ken doll which I still have. He got to make out with all my friends Barbies. ;) My grandmother was so mad at me when I took $5 out of my Christmas money to buy him a tuxedo. Sorry Gram....clothes make the man. |

Our family had a rather large acreage. We has cattle, a big garden and an orchard and my mother even reserved space for her flower garden. Because of that, we had very little time for toys because our responsibilities on the farm came first. But....
Mom and dad bought a slide and swing set, we each had a bicycle, but as for personal toys, we each only had a few. I had dolls. Little dolls, big dolls, rag dolls. My grandmother bought an ancient crib, it was wooden, and I kept it on my side of the closet (I shared a bedroom with my only living sister) and inside the crib is where all my dolls lived safely. I loved all the dolls I had back then. Each doll was very special to me. |
