Does anyone also work with sacred soil/sand? i especially treasure the soil given to me from Canyon de Chelly along with soil and rocks from the Grand Canyon...

I do work with soil and sand. I gather soil from cemetaries that I go to, and, use it when I am working in haunted buildings. I have also used the soil in rituals that require working with the earth. Such as having a pot of soil in the centre of the altar to call in the earth energies. For some rituals, I bury objects in my pot of soil to represent hiden or buried aspects of spirit or self.

The sand I use for water rituals and in some of my ceremonies. I use sand more often for ceremonies than rituals. I also use sand in my entry way. My grandmother taught me that it had the property of water and could therefore clean anything out of the "air" so to speak. Like washing the feet of your guests.

i haven't tried working with cemetery soil and not certain i want to. Whenever i visit most cemeteries i am bombarded by souls seeking acknowledgment....mausoleums are the worst for me...

It never occurred to me to put sand across my doorways...i have salt there now and on my windowsills.

Hi Trey, Thanks for asking...

Some of the techniques I use are similar. I am first generation Canadian, my family moved from the Netherlands, but we trace our lineage to the Saami peoples. Most of what I practice is Northern European and Saami. As one can only expect, there are similarities in most practices and traditions. You would think there was a collective unconscioius or something silly like that!! :canadian:

Trey339 10-21-2011 01:07 AM

collective unconscious

*laughing,, yes one may be led to believe that,,,

foxyshaman 01-10-2012 12:43 PM

So, does anyone have good ideas for what one could use rutilated quartz for?

When I was cleaning stuff yesterday I found a set of 'throwing stones' my ex made for herself. I don't want them. My first inclination was to toss them, then I thought about sending them back to her. She has not missed them, or asked about them.... thoughts from anyone would be appreciated.

1QuirkyKiwi 01-10-2012 12:50 PM

You could cleanse them, then tie thread around them and hang them in the windows?

Cleanse them and use in floating candle displays?

The only Gemstones I use are NZ Jade and Pearl...sorry, I can't be more help.

Trey339 01-10-2012 04:28 PM

send them back to her unannounced,,,youll be doing a positive thing and letting something you dont really want go away peacefully

We must have been on the same page. I am on her side of the city Sunday, so I thought I would just put them in her mailbox and be done with it.

When I first realized what they were, and that they were not mine, I felt this overwhelming desire to throw them away. But, they were made in a sacred manner for doing sacred work... I just could not be that disrespectful to the spiritual energy put into them. I think my desire to throw them away was/is tied to my own emotional baggage, and not to anything regarding the stones themselves.

Excellent idea Trey...you don't need the karma of holding onto something you don't really want...

Don't forget to cleanse yourself and your home after you send them back...

I know what it is like to have stones call to you.At times have had that happen so would buy the stone thinking the angels are telling me I should use it instead turns out no I was only to be the delivery person and give it to another. I have Moldavite ring that I love wearing and at times when meditating will place it on my forhead and go into a deeper meditation. Also find myself drawn to Labradorite have 2 rings made of that.Friends jokingly call me a stonehead in a good way that is.Grin

That is me and quartz, I get them... and then give them all away.

Stonehead... that's funny.

Labradorite is very beautiful. I like that it is a Canadian mineral too.

My favorites are amber, jet, lapis, chrysocolla and obsidian. And white shells, I am gifted with white shells all the time. I have a shelf in my healing room dedictated those wonderful gifts.

Bumping this thread...

Bringing in some Blue Kyanite to facilitate conversation...

http://www.crystalage.com/img/produc..._kyanite_2.jpg

i love this stone and keep it on my desk at work. It's awesome because it doesn't hold negativity and brings me balance. i have some black and green too but they stay at home. my absolute fav piece of blue came from right here in NC and is a hunk mixed with mica.

How about everyone else? What brings you balance? Helps you daily? What stones/crystals do you resonate with the most? Does it change from day to day?

i love Amethyst...but quartz is what i resonate with the most...all colors and varieties and it doesn't always come nicely cleaned and/or polished from a shop. i have some large smoky, rose, snow and milky but i so very much want a large clear cluster. They can be costly and the right one has yet to call me...since my boss gave me a generous gift certificate to my fav crystal shop i plan to visit soon to see if anyone calls my name...

i confess to having several rather large pieces in the trunk of my car. Most came from a creek at a local gold mine and another came from the NC mountains.

i used to have a local piece but the energy suddenly changed so dramatically that a few months ago i returned it from whence it came...shudder...seriously negative energy that simply could not be cleansed so it had to go. What a difference afterward...all the negative energy left my home.

Some days other stones/crystals may call me but i am firmly attached to quartz.

Miss Scarlett 10-04-2012 08:06 AM

Today's stone is Indonesian Petrified Wood. Petrified Wood is a stone of patience, healing, protection, longevity and grounding. It can help keep you calm and bring you peace during your quiet times.

Here is an example in branch form.

Arwen 10-04-2012 09:50 PM

I'm a fan of petrified wood and also of the Petoskey stone (petrified brain coral). I use this to remind myself that my every day pains and gains are all just a blink of an eye to these stones.

Sodalite

Today's stone was selected by Clay who just loves it because of it's peaceful energy and color.

Sodalite...a deep blue stone similar in color to Lapis but without the golden streaks and flecks. Like most of the blue stones Sodalite helps with communication. It's a wonderful stone for creative people helping to balance the mind. It also helps bring unity to mind and spirit. It can aid in bringing about inner peace by clearing confusion and inner turmoil. It's been said to be the best stone to help eliminate fear and guilt. It brings the mind and heart into balance.

I'm curious, what cleaning technique do you use? For a quick cleaning, I put the stones in rei ki charged water with rose water, lavender essential oil and salt for a few nights under the moon. I usually place the word "clarity" on the stone. Sometimes someone inside the stone will speak to me and I'll help them out of the stone with all the above but no salt. For a very dirty stone, I bury it under 12 inches of Earth for a month, then repeat the fore mentioned technique.

It depends upon the stone/crystal...my go to, if you will, is sage and incense. But i have used salt, soul, moonlight, sunlight, water or other stones like Selenite. There are some stones that cannot be exposed to water, salt or sunlight without harming the stone or altering it in some way. So you have to be careful. i like your methods too...i'm of the opinion that the biggest part of any cleansing has to do with my heart and intent. That there is no wrong way if those two are pure.

Bit 10-05-2012 11:53 AM

I had a stone awakending that startled me very much last spring. I bought stone chips from Fire Mountain Gems for making jewelry and art, and when I opened the box and picked up various strands, the stones started singing in my heart! My hands were vibrating from it!

One that I connected with was aquamarine (my birthstone, which at the beginning of this thread I said I didn't much care for). It was undyed, completely natural, and NOT blue--it was green like peridot, which is one of my alltime favorites, and I find that I love it a lot.

rockybcn 10-05-2012 12:27 PM

Ever since I was young....quartz has drawn me in. As an adult I went to Hot Springs ARK. and mined for crystals. They are a BIG part of my life here in Spain. I will take them home with me the end of this year. I intend on more mining when I come back. If I had only known that NC held such treasures when I lived there. I am learning so much from you all.

well who knows...maybe we can all excavate together at some point! Quartz and gem miners unite!

Bit 10-05-2012 02:09 PM

I can understand wanting to go to Arkansas to find quartz. One of the (few) things I miss about the desert is that there was quartz everywhere. It really makes the energy different.

Rockybcn, you're coming back to the US this year?

Miss Scarlett 10-05-2012 03:10 PM

rockybcn, when it comes to freezing stones as a method of cleansing, i'd have to do that on a case by case basis, just like i would when it comes to passing one through fire. Neither is something i would do with an Enhydro, a fragile cluster or any fragile stone. i'd hate to damage any stone while cleansing it...

rockybcn 10-06-2012 01:00 AM

My apologies Ms Scarlett.....quartz crystals for freezing. I dont know anything about cleansing the others or their amazing properties! I hope to gather info from all of you as this thread progresses. I love it! Thank you

Malachite

Today's stone is Malachite...

A beautiful green banded stone that is excellent for protection, wisdom, releasing of inhibitions and developing empathy for others. It's also a very good stone for the protection of children. Also for clearing electromagnetic pollution so keep it near your computer or other electronic devices.

It clears and activates the chakras and attunes one to spiritual guidance. Malachite has the power to protect one from negative energies and aids in releasing negative experiences and traumas. It can help open your heart to unconditional love. Malachite is also a stone of prosperity and good fortune.

Since it can reflect one's soul and how you feel, caution must be used when wearing Malachite so as not to reflect any negative feelings toward others.

It is an excellent reminder of our dual nature - the positive and negative.

Bronzite

Today's stone is Bronzite

Bronzite is a stone of protection. In addition to repelling negative energy it also returns it back to the sender...some say a hundredfold. So it must be used with caution in case you are the one sending out the negative.

It clears confusion and produces a loving and non-prejudicial discernment within us. Called a "stone of courtesy" Bronzite is excellent for those who work with the public as it will instill a sense of calm and polite nature in those around you.

Bronzite can help resolve our unsettled emotions, clear confusion and help bring about the courage to act on our decisions and follow our life path.

Bronzite is a protective, grounding mineral that is used to restore harmony and self confidence in situations where you feel overwhelmed or powerless.

Fuchsite

Today's stone is Fuchsite.

A stone that shows you how to do only what is appropriate and necessary for someone else's soul growth. It combines unconditional and tough love. It amplifies the energy of other crystals and helps with energy transfer.

It helps you to understand interpersonal relationships and reverses tendencies towards martyrdom.

It is known as the Healers Stone as it is particularly good for healers... especially those who regularly try to save others from themselves, when it might be better to let the person to take responsibility for their own health concerns.

A heart chakra stone, Fuchsite links the heart and mind.

Thank you Miss Scarlett, for posting info about the stones. I've not heard of some of them before.

Lithium Quartz

Today's stone is Lithium Quartz.

Lithium Quartz is a super high energy healing and balancing stone. It is said to be self-clearing and self-cleansing. Lithium quartz sends and receives energy as well as storing it. Lepidolite

Today's stone is Lepidolite.

Lepidolite is a gentle stone that helps bring about feelings of calmness in a sea of storms. It is a stone that insists on being used for the highest "good". It is extremely useful for reducing stress and depression - halting obsessive thoughts. Lepidolite is considered a stone of transition and it helps you to release the old and embrace the new - often achieving this on your own with no outside help. It also stimulates intellect and analytic qualities and helps to speed up decision making. It focuses on what is important and filters out distractions.

This stone is a reassuring stone for those who are new to psychic work or those who have had bad psychic experiences (like dabbling with an ouija board or having a seance when younger and unprepared for the results). It helps to screen out negative energy. It activates and opens the third eye and crown Chakra to clear blockages to bring cosmic awareness, aid in shamanic or spiritual journeys and giving access to the Akashic Records. Lepidolite can help you to tune into thoughts and feelings from other lives that are creating blockages in this life.

Every piece of Lepidolite is believed to have its very own keeper - or guardian spirit. It is believed that this stone chooses you - instead of you actually choosing it. This keeper of the stone will guide you in your sleep (if you wish it) to other lands inside of your dream world.

I cannot stay awake in a room with lepidolite. I have a polished piece inside my pillow case. What else it might be able to do I have no idea. Guess I'll have to just take your word for it, since it puts me to sleep so fast!

It's a very calming stone and excellent for sleep...i have a huge hunk next to my bed for that very reason...

Ruby

Today's stone is Ruby.

The Ruby is considered to be the most powerful gem in the universe, and is associated with many astral signs. To own a Ruby is said to have contentment and peace. Placed under a pillow the Ruby may ward off bad dreams. Ruby rings should be worn on the left hand so as to receive the life force and have protection. Given as a gift, the Ruby is a symbol of friendship and love. The Ruby is also the symbol of vitality and royalty.

The Ruby is filled with love. It also helps sexual love to be more passionate. Persons lacking in self-love should have and mediate on the Ruby. It also gives the courage to be best potential that a person has.

Ruby works with the flow of blood as an aid to circulation. It aids the cleansing and removal of infection or germs in the blood. The Ruby may be worn in jewelry, but never close to the solar plexus, as the Ruby has a disquieting effect upon it. In a ring wear it on your left hand.

The color of Rubies varies from vermilion to red. The most desired color is "pigeon's blood", which is pure red with a hint of blue. If the color is too pink, the stone is a Pink Sapphire. The same is true if it is too violet - it is a Violet Sapphire. The best Rubies and Star Rubies are bright red. Most Rubies come from Burma and Thailand.

Ruby’s domain is the heart. Its greatest effects are on the emotional level of being. It heightens your awareness of divine love and enhances your ability to experience and express it. Ruby illuminates the emotional level of life and reveals the divine love at the core of every molecule in creation.

Ruby teaches emotional mastery. Such mastery implies emotional balance, understanding, and the ability to regulate how much emotion you want to exhibit in a given situation. Yet this is not all that Ruby teaches. The emotional mastery Ruby teaches is total awareness of your emotional being.

The kind of love Ruby teaches is not human love, for human love implies needs and expectations. People need human love, yet this kind of love alone does not sustain us. We also need divine love. Divine love gives us the freedom to be who we truly are and who we want to be. This freedom nourishes us and our relationships. It gives us space to grow. Ruby’s love implies freedom. It is a noble and powerful love. It turns your attention to that which is greater than yourself.
