Who thought, way back in April, that either would get this far? The Rangers are under new baseball people ownership and have never won or I believe been to a WS. The Giants are a rejuvenated, remade team who havent won a WS since The Last Supper. Neither seems to have well known superstars but both have very scrappy, young players, playing exceptional ball who just don't know the meaning of quit. Now THATS BASEBALL!

I'm done. :cigar2:

Yup! SO BASEBALL!! And I love it that both teams are without super stars that always get the press. And they play as a team because of this, I think. These guys remind me of the game of long ago. Yet, look at all the young talent! LOL.. Yes, scrappers!

Mostly, I just want to enjoy watching the WS and I think these two teams will give us a good series. Can't wait!!! I am going to try and get a peek at ATT&T Park and take a pic! And i sure hope the rains we had for a few days doesn't return! yeah, Msdemeanor is right- should not be played so late in October/November!

I haven't been this excited for a WS in a long time! I do like to see the Red Sox play in it and like the rivalry with the Yankees! Yanno- that is LONG time rivalry!! Here, in CA, the giants and Dodgers are big rivals in the national League- the Southern vs. Northern California baseball rivalry. yikes, i'm a national League fan i9n the main.

AH!!! Way KEWL!!!

I'm SOOOOOO excited about the World Series! Just what I needed.... have a lot going on and stressed. So, I am kind of needing a Baseball Zen thang! Hoping one of my Great Nephews that lives in San Jose now will come up for a visit and watch with me. He used to pitch in school. Plus, my Frog Dog wants to be the Giants short-stop eventually... very serious about getting to those ground balls... 'course, he doesn't have far to go from the ground to his paws.....

:|

This is fun having a basebal thread during the World Series! I always thought it was just you and the Mister that was into it!

but... but... Diva seems to be a fan of baseball, complete with pom-poms! Kobe is into it.... KEWL!!

I really don't have a team in this fight, but I am leaning sentimentally toward the Giants. I think because two former Tigers play for them.

MissItalianDiva 10-27-2010 09:24 PM

I am really happy the Giants are winning BUT come on Rangers can you at least act like a professional team and challenge us a little bit. This game might be the most boring World Series game yet.....I am thinking this is going to be a straight walk for the Giants

bigbutchmistie 10-27-2010 09:24 PM

Now I wasnt expecting the Rangers to play like the Cowboys

Giants are doing good THIS game buy dont count the Rangers out yet. They totally suck tonight yes, but the Giants winning the series? ONLY and ONLY if Rangers play all their games like tonight... But I dont see that happening :) And btw Im only a bandwagon fan.. Normally dont like baseball

MissItalianDiva 10-27-2010 09:28 PM

LOL BBM....your Rangers only looked good against the Yanks cause ....well enough said right! The Giants are a different caliber...one the Rangers can't hang with

Kobi 10-27-2010 10:23 PM

New kind of pitchers duel?

12 pitchers, 18 runs, 25 hits?

Kobi tells self....its just one game. Chalk it up to World Series jitters.

Kobi 10-28-2010 10:22 AM

smack talk? really? lmao

Lets just keep a wee bit of perspective here. The collective stadium was holding its breath when the Rangers took a 2-0 lead by the second inning and Lincecum was looking like he would rather be getting a haircut than pitching.

Then when the Giants were able to unravel Cliff Lee, you all were able to suck in some air.....blue is not a pretty color on Giant fans.

Then again, those pesky little Rangers still didnt lay down and roll over. They just kept plugging away.

Also remember that the Rangers have to play by National league rules for a few games and it is an adjustment. Heck if Guerrero HAS to play right field rather than DH, he should at least be entitled to use a motorized scooter out there. Under the Americans With Disabilties Act, it is a reasonable accomodation. :girlonatv: Gawd, I move better than he does even after I dislocate my back.

Ok I have totally forgotten where I was going with this......

Oh yeah, the Giants are a different caliber. But I think it was really sweet of the Rangers to let them win ONE just so they know what its like to play with the big boys. ;)

Ok if you dont get my warped sense of humor, feel free to send me a pm. Otherwise, LETS PLAY BALL!

AtLast 10-28-2010 04:02 PM

Of course I'm jazzed about last night's game.... but, it was only the first game of a 7 game series....

Taking it one game at a time..... kind of hope it goes all 7. I just enjoy the game!

GO GIANTS!!!

I kinda feel for that young Rangers pitcher.... This inning has been a walk-a-thon!!!

Kobi 10-28-2010 09:09 PM

Hm this is not good. No. No. I am speechless. I'm having Red Sox-Bill Buckner ball thru legs flashbacks. I'm having Bucky Dent homering to steal the ACLS flashbacks.

Kobi hangs head....sniffs.....at least put up a fight guys......

P.S. You know things are reaaaally not going well when the fans from the opposing team are feeling bad for you lmao.

Great game tonight. Sorry, but I am rooting for the Giants. Looking forward to Saturday's game, which I will have to "watch" via MLB.com on my mobile, since I will be at an NHL game that night.

Well Kobi when your little Ranger girl scouts decide to stop selling cookies door to door and act like they are an actual team they I will be more than happy to hush it LMAO

SimpleAlaskanBoy 10-28-2010 11:20 PM

I'm really torn about the Series...not a big National League fan, but I would love to go to Candlestick Park someday...and I love how the Giants are playing...that said, I was always a big fan of Nolan Ryan's pitching back in the day, even though I am a Mariners/Red Sox fan.
Whoever wins, I know they deserve it, and at least the Yankees aren't in the Series!

Kobi looks at you.

After careful thought and consideration, the best response I can come up with to this is.....and I say this with hands on hips.....with a little tushie wiggle.....and a kind of scowl look on my face....

!!BITE ME!!

BTW the oatmeal/raisin cookies are to die for :cheesy:

No smack talk here...just a basic fact 9-zip that's toast in my book. On a lighter note, if I was actually making breakfast it'd be a whole lot better then toast! LOL By the way who are the BoSox playing tomorrow....yeah... that's what I thought - no one.

(P.S. I really like the BoSox just had to throw that one in for good measure)

Kobi wipes the coffee off the monitor.....thanks I needed a good belly laugh today.

Make a deal with you....if the Giants win, breakfast is on you and I understand you are a chef so it should be mighty tasty.

If the BoSox win, breakfast is on me. :superfunny:

Oh, I will always love Nolan! But, my heart will always be in San Francisco! Geez, Nolan didn't have a very happy face when the Rangers walked in all those runs! Yikes! But, I put that on their manager. And in game 1, "the Freak" was actually not at his best for the Giants. But the job was done! Love it that the Giants can have an off night pitching and the rest of the team just steps up! What I love best about them- team work! Fantastic fielding defense! My guy Posey keeps plunking base hits and then there is Uribe, Torres, Huff and Ross !!!!

http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-..._6650832_n.jpg

Cain was amazing last night! Focused, never rattled. I am so impressed with the Giants bull pen. Bunch of young guys playing with so much heart! That said, the Rangers have some great pitchers, too. Lee was just off in game 1. And after the first two games, they will be charged-up playing in Texas. I think he will start in game 5. He will probably have his stuff back. Still just taking it game by game. The Rangers are not going to sit back and relax at home.

Lovin' the scruffy long hair, mohawk, bearded guys! An anti-Tea Bag image team from SF!!! GO GIANTS!!! And their being in the WS has brought more business to SF right before the holidays. Good! Plus, during these economic times, this is kind of sweet!

I want one of those T-Shirts!!!

Former Presidents George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush will throw out ceremonial first pitches before Game 4 of the World Series on Sunday night.

Now if I wasn't already a lifelong die hard GIANTS fan...I'd root for the orange and black just based on the above information. I do however think it's appropriate that they are doing this on Halloween - very scary..lol

You and me both!

H. W. Bush actually doesn't bother me as much as Dumb-Dubya'. At least he has a brain and was really more of a moderate Republican. Not really a whacko fundie. Overall, if the GOP was still the party it was in Eisenhower's time, I would not be so negative about it. It is really sad that it has gone the way it has. But the saddest thing with the GOP right now is not giving a flying Hooray for getting the US back on it's feet- their newest mission is simply to defeat Obama in 2012- NOT dealing with what is necessary to get people back to work.

So, I will tip my hat to the elder Bush on game day. Afterall, "W" has only half his genes.....

GO GIANTS!

I hate FOX!!

Fox Won't Let SF Show World Series Game 3 On Civic Center Big Screen, Game 4 Or 5 Possible If We Clinch

http://sfappeal.com/news/2010/10/fox...f-we-clinc.php

If the Giants win Saturday ... I am going to the SF Civic Plaza to watch on Sunday! Got my folding chair, BART Pass and sandwich stuff all ready! Will take hot chocolate, too! I don't care if it rains! I'm going!! Going to bundle up my little Frog Dog in his winter jacket and he's coming, too!

Anyone on the site that lives here that is going, let me know!!! This one is for my Dad! I wish he was still living to see his team these days! Hey Pop, thank you for taking me to see Willie Mays play as a kid. I loved going to games with you and learning baseball strategy from someone that loved it like you did! Good memories and a great Dad! And thank you for coming to my softball games even though, we both knew I could have played real baseball with the boys! And my older sister, Jeanne was one hell of a second base player

Damn, I was so born before Title IV!!! But did compete in tennis in college. But that just wasn't the same! I am so glad that girls and young women of today have so much more in the sports world.
