Today I found a recipient for a lot of magazines I have kept....An art teacher wants them all to use with students on special projects! I am thrilled! Recycling, better yet, re-using!

Re: some more fears
today i discarded some more old emotional baggage from my past. these were primarily fears of what ANYONE would think of what i did, am doing, or am going to do. i am going to do what is healthy for my self, now and in the future. i am not going to let myself get caught up in any more abusive or co-dependent relationships, whether they be those of family, partnerships, or friendships. now, as soon as i see one developing, i wil politely but firmly extricate myself from whatever relationship it is. i am almost 50 and want to spend the latter half of my life as healthily as possible. as my signature says...

More magazines are finding homes: all my old Health magazines are wanted by the health teacher at my school! In the process of looking through my magazine piles, found enough catalogs to fill two large bags! Those went into the recycling bin!
It feels great! Elle* |
Just saying, but I am keeping all my Martha Stewart magazines!

Donated 4 boxes of junk and a night stand, manage to organize half of my shoes in my closet, getting rid of five pair..
|
An old file cabinet, cleaned out closets yesterday and have a lot to donate... taking clothes and shoes to the homeless shelter, hoping they get to use them right then.
|
Since I was home-bound because of the blizzard, I did a thorough spring-cleaning (yes, in winter), and got rid of a large bag of assorted things (candles, coat rack, patches, fabric, clothing, kitchen stuff, ornaments....) and dropped it off at my local Godwill store. Yeah!...
Elle* |
Working on a large bag of goodies to take to my classroom: magazines, tons of pens and pencils accumulated from fairs and events, yarn and fabric, books about France, French cds, maps, craft books.... I am on a roll!

I was channeling Sassy Leo, so
I got rid of every expired condiment in the door of my refrigerator that I didn't want. There was more than one kind of vinegar. :| |
Vinegar never expires, and most condiments don't either, because of their acidity or salt content!
Elle*, just saying... |
But June, why do you need the French things?
Elle* |
Nobody likes food prepared with cloudy vinegar. :sushi:
|
|
Chancie, cloudy vinegar only means the vinegar mother is doing her job, one can filter it! Then if you have an active vinegar mother you can add little bits of leftover wine to your bottle and you will have vinegar forever! (This should be in the frugal gourmet section I think!)
Elle*, whose fridge contains lots of ageless condiments from every continent, foie gras, Champagne, tons of sweet butter, and a lot of refrigerator pickles made earlier on........ |
Oy, please don't tell the recyclists. :|
Or, should I say, 'Mon Dieu'? |
Today I got rid of...more useless sh*t. Cause I'm tired of folks threatening a hoarder intervention... Guess I really didn't need every craft and homework assignment brought home since kindergarten... :seeingstars:
|
Today I got rid of....
The Boy....for a week anyway. Just wish I had someone here to enjoy this big ole empty house with. ;)

Someone might want to clue Sassyboo in on that Jello part... I have some honey that looks icky. How can I bring it back to beautiful velvety smoothness? |
I think we need to start a thread on how to refresh, recycle, recondition and re-use your common kitchen staples! Then there are the "other" uses, the non-intended ones, like using mayonnaise to clean the leaves of your greenery...
Elle*, feeling inspired! |
Last night got another big box of clothes out of my closet for donation, sad part is I thought I would have alot more room in there.... This is hard, still not done yet I still have another closet to go through. And still working on craft room , need to get to pantry, garage and attic

I didn't have a dining room table that anyone could dine on, because of sundry trash and my son's Legos mushrooming all over the top of it. Today I cleared off the entire surface, polished it, and sorted Legos into plastic tubs for building blocks and one for people/monsters. So, does getting rid of the junk on my table count?
|
Between yesterday and today, I got rid of five shopping bags full of stuff. Posted stuff on freecycle and people magically came to my house and picked up stuff.
Included: three sets of sheets, a purse, a wallet, jewelry, some clothing, heatable aromatherapy booties, lace curtains, puppy training pads, and other stuff I can't remember. Also threw out a large bag of trash. Yay!! |
5 pounds!! Well not today...It took a week. But I weighed in today and 5 more pounds! Hooray!
|
I polished off some bacon and waffles for breakfast and I'm going back for some baked Cheetos.
