I'm afraid it was. It's obvious that supermarket cart neglect has been going on for centuries. These poor carts are forced on to the streets, and well, you can imagine the horrors.

Actually the weirdest thing about it is that halfway through I found myself beginning to think of them as wild horses or antelope, some kind of herd creatures trying to survive in the urban and suburban wilds...
