I had a long talk with my vet prior to my last purchase to make sure it is something I wanted to continue due to the above. What do you reccommend instead? Do you have a site to share for natural products for fleas, ticks, etc? We have a lot of lyme in the area which is what made me decide to continue with the treatment. |

Well hello healthy folks & happy Tuesday! I hope that everyone enjoyed a nice, long weekend and are ready to kick this weeks butt!
We spent the weekend at the lake, where it rained the whole time. Needless to say, we were cooped up indoors much of the time watching movies and honestly just relaxing. We did manage to eat home cooked meals for 90% of the time. I made breakfast tacos with a mixture of egg & egg whites, turkey bacon & WW cheese. We grilled steaks & chicken.... and made baked potatos. We did go out to eat one night.... where I ordered the house special Chicken Fried Steak. Yeah, I know bad, but I did order the small portion with gravy on the side. I only ate about 1/2 of the SMALL poriton because I filled up on the salad bar, first. I know that I snacked throughout the day, and probably drank more than I should have. I did not weigh after this weekend... because I KNOW that I didn't get enough water intake so my number always shows higher after the weekend. Today, my focus is strong and I'm back on track. We plan on hitting the gym tonight, too. I'm gonna kick my own ass! Eliptical and then I'm gonna try out the stationary bike. Meals planned for the day... Breakfast: Raisin bran cereal with skim milk a banana 1 cup coffee with fat free vanilla creamer Lunch: 2 turkey hot dogs on wheat buns an apple Snack: yogurt with granola WW string cheese or some fruit Dinner (with cooler temps, we are firing up the bbq pit) : grilled chicken grilled asparagus & corn on the cob garden salad |

Breakfast: a big ol' Diet Coke from the convience store 2 fried steak, egg & cheese taquito things (yeah, from the healthy convience store deli) Snack: Diet Coke refill Reese's peanut butter cups Lunch: Taco Bell taco salad (yeah, I tried to trick myself that crap was healthy @ almost 780 calories with that fried shell) more Diet Coke Dinner: Pasta with some rich cream sauce ceaser salad garlic bread and a bottle of wine After dinner, we would eat ice cream, too! No wonder I always felt like crap! I was always tired, too! |

Im going to add some to my menue to see how that works, corse when I go to the gym I work out like there wont be a tomorrow,I may be over doing that as well. |
hi all ,
finally did my weigh in today, and to my amazement, i knocked off some more lbs, and am sooo sooo thrilled, because i hit the 40 lbs gone forever mark!! i have never been more proud of myself than i am today - when she told me it was 40 lbs i cried my face off, i just feel so wonderful for it.. i'm sooo on my way.. ups & downs, but i'm doing it! & soo happy to read up in here and see how well you are all doing, once again thank you for tips, constant encouragement & sharing all the time.. You all ROCK.. ♥♥♥ |
So, I joined Gold's Gym and as a treat to myself I got a trainer for 6 weeks. In my first week I have managed to do 5 days of Cardio and a ab workout (X2) from HELL!!! Loved it! My cardio workout consisted of 2 days of the treadmill for 45 minutes each and I threw Jacobs ladder in there for 10 on one of those days. So far I have tried the Sh'bam class, didn't care for it as much as Zumba. Zumba ROCKS! The third cardio class is called Body Jam HOLY HECK! Loved this class as much as Zumba. So there it is... There are a couple of other classes I want to try such as the Gentle yoga and the swim fitness class. All in due time. Tomorrow we will do a brief rundown of the ab routine then we will be moving on to the rest of the body.
Also here is what she has said about eating...I get up really early some days, trust me this is not by choice as sleep is often elusive for me, even when I am dog butt tired... SNACK Fruit/nuts BREAKFAST Carbs & Protein SNACK Fruit/nuts/veggie LUNCH Carbs & Protein This is when you should cut all carbs out. SNACK Fruit/nuts DINNER Protein & Veggies Also this week we are going to discuss supplements. Right now we are not counting calories just looking at what I eat. Keep up the great work everyone! |
I slid over to the scale this morning and did a stealthy sneak peak and saw that I'm down to 291.
My second mini-goal of 289 is just over the horizon. I am WAY excited! |
I was away last week and was worried about not getting enough activity. Well that should not have been my worry. I was at a retreat and I chose a "path" that was ALL body movement. We mixed Kundalini Yoga with improv dance... what a freakin' blast for three hours a day!! And I was surrounded by BEAUTIFUL old growth forests so every chance I got (so like daily) I was hiking. I think I lost weight. But I won't know till my weigh in later this week.
Sometimes things just work out right. Yesterday I was supposed to be booked, but my patient cancelled. So I went to my rush class, which is like interval training. Now I just want to bitch and get this out. I HATE, fucking HATE jumping up and down. Why... cause I have double D girls that hop all over the place. Why on the Goddesses green fucking earth do you want me to flop all over??? So, I don't. One of the nice things about being the biggest in the class (and pretty well the oldest) is that if I quit doing something the young little teachers never ever get after me. Ahhh the perks of being overweight and older :superfunny: But that is not what I was writing about... on those rare Tuesdays I have an evening free I like to do my Rush class, leave 10 minutes early, head down to the river valley to another gym and do a super duper yoga class. I felt sooooooooo good last night. And then I blew it and ate a hunk of white chocolate... and then my body reacted STRONGLY to the sugar. Okay body I get it... :olive: So another day. Another challenge. Going to the gym tonite for my weight class and if my ex stands me up for coffee (my spidy sense says she will) I may just luxuriate in another yoga class at 7:30. :praying: And then hit the couch and die!! :canadian: |
Got in 51 minutes of cardio this morning...37 of it jogging. I've done the walk/jog thing for 6 of the last 7 days, and I'm 3 days into my 30-day challenge.
I've never completed one of these challenges yet, so I fear I'll fail again. :( I just have to get one of these under my belt. I did a sneak peak on my weight too, and it hasn't changed. I hope Friday tells a different tale. |
I have done great with juicing, eating raw and healthy. Today I need some meat. It's just so over powering. I could never go 100% raw. It would kill me. So I am making curried lamb for Wanton Boi and going to have some. I'm going to chop a BUNCH of herbs and lettuce with a light cucumber sauce.
I'm not sure if I should feel defeated for lacking discipline or accept that I just fucking love good food. That the explosion on my tongue is as good as an orgasm. I watch shows like Top Chef and others with anticipation and fantasy. Is it an addiction to food or epicurus indulgence? I don't think it's the "good" food that's made any of us too heavy...I know it isn't for me. I can eat delicious meals and, as long as I don't bury things in cream sauce and butter regularly, that was never my problem. What made me gain weight was quantity...and the crappy food I ate...donuts, chips, candy, sodas. I fully intend to keep eating filet mignon, and fresh steamed asparagus with a little butter, and baked potato (although I've discovered plain greek yogurt is a fabulous replacement for sour cream) ...and I will probably periodically go out to eat my favorite mexican food....or bake a batch of cookies. What I'm not doing anymore is eating fast food, drinking soda, eating potato chips, deep fried stuff, etc. But, let's face it, that was never the really "good" stuff anyway! :winky: |

My weight came on post-T, and I'm not one of those who claim that T made me eat more. I call bullshit on that anyway. For me, I gave up my career and moved to the other side of the country. With more time on my hands and stressors I was not prepared for, I decided to "add happiness" in the form of donuts for breakfast, ice cream on top of brownies (frequently), big subway-style sandwiches for lunch, and LOTS of eating out on the weekends. I treated myself to that kind of crap before, but it was only from time to time because I was at work for 10 hours and sleeping for 9. When you give up a lifestyle like that, you have lots of time to discover new crap.......that tastes damn good!! |
I'm on a good pace of 2.4 lbs per week. 12 to go to hit one goal.
|
Good Afternoon Everyone,
I finally hopped on the scale this morning. I weighed in at 168lbs with some of that being water weight from mother nature. I'm still watching everything I eat and I'm having oatmeal squares cereal as a snack. After my 401K meeting, I had a small amount of tuna, shredded mild cheddar cheese, a dash of basil, a dash of ground black pepper and half of a teaspoon of kraft olive oil mayo on a bed of baby spinach and a cup of sugar free peaches for lunch. Have a great day, Zimmy |

Well hey there y'all :)
Man, we have had some awesome updates today. Y'all are rocking along... keep up the great work! This awesome group here continues to motivate me to keep on going... we can do this, YES WE CAN! Well, last night's grilled dinner didn't happen. Instead, I came home from work to find my honey cooking up a big pot of taco soup. She even made the healthier modifications... and it was AWESOME! I had a big ol' bowl for dinner along with a garden salad and one for lunch today! Here is her recipe that she used: Browned ground turkey with onion add to the pot a can of each... Low sodium stewed tomatos No salt added corn Ranch style beans Kidney beans 1/2 - 1 packet of low sodium taco seasoning (depending on how spicy you like it) 1/2 packet of Hidden Valley Ranch and a couple cans of water Simmer for about 45 minutes.... VOILA! Let me tell you, it's even better the next day after all the seasonings soak in! Mmmmm! I can't tell y'all how excited I am for all the positive changes that are happening with so many of y'all. THANK YOU for sharing this journey with us!!! Tonight, gym time it is! I've downloaded some booty shakin' music to keep me going... IT'S ON :) Tomorrow is my weigh in day. We shall see! |
Hello healthy friends :)
Been meaning to tell you all about a new fav product. I love butter...margarine scares me...and I know I'm supposed to be eating more olive oil. I already cook with EVOO and use that in my salad dressing, but sometimes I want a little of that buttery yumminess. So...happy me...I found a product by Land O Lakes that is half butter, half olive oil. It comes in a tub and stays soft straight from the fridge, and has enough of the butter flavor to be satisfying, with only half the saturated fat, plus some of the EVOO goodies. :cheer: This morning is off to a good start. Breakfast was the most delicious omelet....2 eggs, sauteed onion and fresh spinach (with some of the butter/olive oil mix above to sautee them in) and a slice of meunster cheese. It was heaven. I also had a can of V8, and black coffee....so I've got 3 servings of veggies plus some protein and calcium under my belt before 9 a.m. Here's the best part....it was so delicious that I didn't even miss the toast! :cheesy: |
I love the Land O' Lakes butter! I use the canola oil based one and even then, it is only half a teaspoon.
Your omelette sounded yummy! Zimmy Quote:

I have made it my goal to lose 20 lbs by Dec 31st. That is 5 lbs a month, and I think it is pretty attainable. I am going to stick to WW, continue tracking and add walking an hour everyday, or a some kind of interval training along with weights a few times a week. I am ready to get this pesky weight off for good!!!

I have not posted much. Dealing with medical issues giving me bigger fish to fry, (haha), so-to-speak.
Gyn pushed me to go to cardiologist due to elevated cholesterol. Among other things, forced me to increase my fiber intake. I know I was not taking enough in. Fiber, sufficient fiber, is difficult. Protein was always my focus to stay full but I have found fiber works very well too. I am increasing it it several ways but found one painless way is Metamucil (oh the shame to clutch my first bottle to the cash register- a public witness to my aging body). I paid more for the clear and natural that promised to dissolve with no grit and it actually does! 5 grams in a cup of coffee- check, 5 grams in a bowl of Kashi wheat cereal (6-grams in the cereal alone) plus 5 grams of the extra teaspoon of fiber, etc. When you feel like you will pop like a balloon, it sure cuts down on eating anything extra whatsoever. We will see the outcome and how long I can stand feeling like the Staypuff boy/girl but I have lost another pound in 3 days, which for me is a record. I'd hug you but I better not... |
Good morning & happy Thursday y'all :)
Jo, that omlet sounds YUMMY! I'm gonna have to look for that version of butter. I've always used either the Country Crock Light or the I Can't Believe It's Not Butter spread.... so I'm guessing these are bad? WELCOME Starry... we're glad you've made your way here! There are quite a few of us here on WW, and other programs as well. You'll be able to find lots & lots of helpful hints, meal plans, exercise regimes and more importantly SUPPORT & ENCOURAGEMENT! Good luck on your healthy living journey my friend! Well, weigh in day was today. No loss... but no gain either. I'm pretty thankful though after the holiday weekend AND that lovely time of the month. So, I'm gonna keep on keeping on, and KNOW that scale is gonna show a loss next Thursday! Some of you may know Candace (Canmarielan). She's been a member for a long time, she is a nurse that just works so much she hardly has time to post. I really wish she would get her butt in here and share her journey with y'all. This woman is one of my biggest inspirations! Since last year, she has gone from 397 to 347 as of yesterday. YEP, 50 pounds gone forever! She has been busting her ass at the gym and making healthy modifications to her meals... and is doing amazing! She is determined to meet her goals, and there isn't a doubt in my mind that she won't succeed. I just wanted to do a lil' bragging on my bestie for all her hard work :) |
I third that, Jo your breakfast sounds yummy.
A friend of mine introduced me to butter and olive oil mixture a good number of years ago, I used it when the kids were growing up. I forgot about it. Thanks!! I will go back to that mixture. I was right she stood me up. I went to my weight class. I have triceps today, I am reminded of them when I straighten my arms :|. It was a brutal class with loads of reps and lots of squats. I chose not to go to yoga, rather feed myself supper and do some cleaning. I am so exciting I scare myself  There is a zumba class out doors today at noon in the downtown square. But it is 31 out today... sunstroke is not my friend. So tonite I am off to yoga. I sound like a broken record, but my gym cut out classes on Thursday nights for the summer, so I am back at yoga. I know I could go and work out myself, but I don't push myself nearly as hard as someone else can. So I go to classes. |
Whoooops, I stand corrected with Candace's progress... she's lost 60 pounds! She started at 407 & is now 347! I am sooo freakin' proud of her y'all... you have no idea!

That is amazing! I love seeing her progress photos on Facebook - She looks AMAZING! She is a huge inspiration to me as well - Seeing her determination has been super postive! |

Any other healthy eaters going to Reunion who might want to do a healthy check-in or work out together? I'd love to hit the gym for at least 20 minutes a day while I'm there. Ana worked out there last year and I hear they have nice equipment! |

Let's get 'em at next week's weigh-in!!! Quote:
Good job on hitting your classes! At least you keep moving... My cardio was a real challenge this morning. Reno is known for lots of sunshine and little-to-no humidity. Early morning showers changed that a bit, and I felt it!! I didn't quit though, and that was huge for me. Weigh-in is tomorrow. Based on my sneak-peeks during the week, I don't anticipate much of a change. Maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised.....*shrug*.......gotta wait and see. |
I will join you all! I love to walk on the treadmill and lift light weights!
See ya at the reunion..Who is bringing the butt shaking music? Zimmy Quote:

Hi Folks,
Well, I've been doing bad, bad bad......Hmph.....I still haven't hopped on the scale and today I was bored here at work and ate a kitkat, small package of m&m's along with an orange and apple. At least half of my lunch was healthy. :sigh: I'm back at having "no motivation" whatsoever. Here I go again with difficulty getting back on the wagon since coming back from vacation.... Why the hell do I do this to myself...back in the slump and can't get out... :hanging: |

You WILL get back on track... just give yourself some time. When you are ready, you'll be back in it full force. I got faith in you! If not, me and Medusa will drag your ass to the gym with us at the Reunion. That will bounce you back on track... for reals ;) |
