I have 2 lizards hanging out here. At first I thought it was just one, the day I squealed. But today I had two lurking on the railing. One larger than the other, eeeeeeck.

Ms Jelly was having a stare down when she spied one today.

Diva Kitty is kind of sad because she has been banished from my bedroom until the carpet dries. I have given her lots of extra pets and treats, though. She will have to make do sleeping on the couch instead of my bed.

FireSignFemme 04-11-2020 09:23 PM

Loved on me like there was no tomorrow. I slept in late, extra cuddle time and he made the most of it.

Kätzchen 04-13-2020 09:45 AM

Toffee was jealous, as jealous as could be yesterday, because Petunia sat on my lap for what seemed hours. Petunia's claws would playfully come out and bring my fingers closer to her claws. Like she was holding my fingers while she schlicked my finger nails (my claws, lol). I <3 my Petunia. :stillheart:

Walked Pete this morning, and he had a sneezing fit, and could not recover. So, we both went in..and took a nap.. he woke up.. sneezing again. I hope this is just allergies as it was extremely windy yesterday and overnight.

GeorgiaMa'am 04-17-2020 09:19 AM

Diva Kitty followed me into the kitchen to supervise my work today. She politely waited until after my Zoom meeting was over. She's like that - very polite. Then we played with the laser pointer. Okay, so she's a bad influence too.

On the way home last night, I went through the drive-thru at Burger King, bought a dozen plain hamburgers. I went into the back door yelling HAMBURGER PICNIC ... Kevin, Jennifer and Jeffrey started jumping all around with excitment. Kevin is totally deaf now but he picked up the cue from the other two, knew something tasty was coming his way. I got their bowls and placed 4 burgers in each one. Sitting in a chair, I mashed the grease out of every burger with paper towels, then tore all the burgers into small pieces. The prep time always adds to the excitment because I continue to yell HAMBURGER PICNIC frequently. Heh Heh!! It is a family bonding thing. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their picnic. Kevin has a super wide head and tongue, I looked over at him and he had a little piece of hamburger on his head. My big Kevie eats with gusto! *laughing to self* Their little peepers were still glowing when we all went out back for awhile, then back inside and on to bed. I do picnics for them like this every once in a while. Other times it is Arby's roast beef sandwiches or chicken. I realize these picnics are not healthy for them but I don't do it often.

Last spring, Simon, our family Jack Russell Terrier died suddenly and just yesterday, our lovely caT Miss Petunia died.

I am so sad. I loved her to pieces.

She was my one and only cat, so smart, and so incredibly mysterious.

RockOn 04-26-2020 06:48 AM

Katzchen, I am terribly sorry for your loss. Losing pet(s) is extremely painful! My heart goes out to you during your time of sorrow.
Hugs of comfort,
RockOn

It is cool and crispy outside this morning ... great day ahead with zero rain. I just prepared breakfast for the pups. Kevin already gobbled all his down. Jennifer and Jeffrey are grabbing small bites of their food in between their game of "chase and tag me." They are enjoying eating outside. I feel so good ... in my head, I am looking around, lining up tasks for today, figuring out what I want to accomplish. Hope I can get lots done! The dogs can be outside all day with me and will enjoy it so much. Praises the rain is gone and the ground has dried out! :)

RockOn 04-26-2020 10:45 AM

Jeffrey just had to be put in TIMEOUT. I made him go inside. He will be able to come back out in 15 minutes. He knows to follow my directions about certain things and yet he pushes me to this point. Bet he will stay in the backyard the rest of the day instead of sneaking off.

GeorgiaMa'am 04-27-2020 10:38 AM

Diva Kitty was lying on the kitchen floor, napping and supervising me during my work-at-home, when she suddenly leapt up, ran downstairs to the storage room door and howled at it, and then just as suddenly ran back upstairs and wrapped herself around my legs a few times and then resumed her nap.

I'm afraid to go in the storage room. Maybe I should. But I'm afraid.

RockOn 04-27-2020 02:58 PM

Hey Georgia Ma'am

LOL! Sorry to laugh but could not help it.

If you need to go into the storage room, do it before it is dark. If I am afraid, dark multiplies my fears of werewolves and crazy mean clowns in the woods.

nhplowboi 04-27-2020 03:04 PM

The dogs got into the trash and made a hella mess in the 3 rooms they had access to. :(

Go ahead and laugh, it's funny. I'm definitely not going in the storage room tonight. I'll go in there tomorrow during daylight.

Warning: grossness

You wouldn't be able to see anything anyway, Georgia. It was probably just a lost spirit passing through (assuming Diva doesn't do this regularly).

I'd take that over what my beloved girl child did this morning any day.

Normally, it's Loki that has this issue so when I heard the beginnings of a hurl, I thought it was him but no....it was my sweet, sweet Gracie yakking up some gnarly breakfast.

And, to make matters worse, I startled her accidentally so she zoomed through the living room as she continued and I wound up with 4 dashes of semi-digested kibble the length of the room.

Good thing I had an extra 10 minutes before work.

The demon child is currently curled up on the back of the sofa and my baby boy is wound into a fat pretzel at the top of the cat tree.

RebelDyke 05-29-2020 01:08 PM

Poor Pete had to have been completely traumatized by all of the knocks at the door yesterday. Between visitors and deliveries it seemed like an all day event. Today, he has been hyper vigilant staring at the front door and barking at every noise....sigh...poor guy :police:

Starfish 05-29-2020 06:23 PM

Lazy on the couch with me watching movies. Yes, plural. They probably think something is wrong with me. She's not moving, should we call someone?

Gemme 05-31-2020 01:03 PM

Today has been an unusual day and it's freaked my babies out so Loki has been crying on and off all day. Finally, he has settled down and is napping on the floor near me. Gracie has not been seen for hours. It's a beautiful sunshine-y day with a nice breeze so I opened up the living room windows. I haven't done that before with them and it's knocked them off their game. I think it's the blinds as they swing in and out and rattle from the wind tickling their edges. Whatever it is, it has sent my baby girl into hiding under the chaise, her preferred hiding spot.

I'm going to vacuum soon.

I may not see Gracie the rest of the day.

Happy Birthday Scout

I don't really know her birthday as she was a rescue, but the 1st of june was 3 mths
I got her at 12 weeks, now she is 10 yrs old.

Jelly and I are sad. I came home to find our friend, the balcony lizard dead on my door mat.

Upon further examination, well lizard autopsy,
looks like it's been dead for a while. How it showed up on the door mat, is a mystery. I suspect it was a bird capture gone wrong.!🦎

FireSignFemme 06-13-2020 08:30 AM

Cried to go out, cried to be let in. Cried to go out, cried to be let in. Over and over. Usually when he cries I can fix it but come on cat be reasonable - I don't rule the rain! I can see a cat flap door thing in our near future.

Gemme 06-17-2020 06:49 PM

I've taken to playing with each of them individually right after they've eaten wet food in the morning and night because they have more spunk and playfulness then.

Loki eats in a separate room because he's a food hog and I get tired of being the referee. So, when Gracie finishes, she comes over to me and I pet her and then out comes the laser pointer. She loves it. When I've run her for a few minutes, I let Loki out and do the same for him. There's been less squabbles between them so working out that extra energy is really helping us all. They get exercise and they crack me up.

Today, Gracie got into it so much that her tail puffed up and she totally cracked out on it. It tickled my fancy so much. Also, I realized that I inadvertently taught Loki how to open the bathroom door, which he does from time to time. His favorite way to play with the laser pointer is if I move it side to side on the door and he'll jump up and put his paws together to catch it. Sometimes, he catches the doorknob. Sometimes he turns it just a little bit. I never noticed until now. Darnitall.

I had a blind date once who did similar, needless to say it didn't workout...

easygoingfemme 06-25-2020 04:35 AM

My old man dog is duping me. He has been limping badly for three days. We examined his paws, leg, joints. No cries for pain, no visible injuries, so I have a vet appointment for him this morning. He has a regular annual visit next week but I got him a sick dog visit because of the limping. Now... after keeping him to the first floor of the house for three days and letting him sleep his old heart out in front of the air conditioner he's fine. Dance walking, happy as a clam. Do I cancel the sick visit or get him checked to be sure he's fine? I suppose I will call the vet and let them decide.

The cats are all sprawled out. The old lady is screaming for food even though it's right in front of her. The others couldn't care less about anything really.

easygoingfemme 06-29-2020 01:42 PM

My dog is in the hospital.

He woke up very anxious, nervous, panting and packing and his legs were shaking. Then his legs started going out from under him. I sat with him for a few hours and went to work because my daughter has today off and she could sit with him. She called me two hours later to come home which is NOT like her. She had found him in the hallway laying on his stomach with all of his legs splayed out.

I got us a 3pm appointment with his vet but I didn't wait. I rushed him in at 11:30 and thankfully they took them. Now I am home waiting. They did a physical and bloodwork and haven't detected for sure what it is so he's going in for an EKG.

I'm so anxious and heartbroken not knowing what is wrong but knowing he is hurting. He's almost 13 years old so I know this could also be end of life for him.

Starfish 06-29-2020 04:13 PM

Update: Dog is home with a dx of Degenerative Myopathy. They gave him a cortisone shot and a script for prednisone to start tomorrow. Then I need to give real thought to his quality of life if this doesn't work. My sweet old man dog. The shot is def making him feel better but I feel horrible. I'm going to sleep downstairs on a daybed next to him tonight because he can't do stairs.

Today just might be the anniversary of the day my 15 year old cranky French Bulldog bit my daughter right after I warned her he wasn't feeling well and she scoffed at me and said I just didn't know how to handle him.

easygoingfemme 07-19-2020 10:58 AM

My cats are fine. My dog is not.

Last month he was diagnosed with Degenerative Myelopathy. He has been on a high dose of steroids to try to help him bounce back, for however brief that bounce is.

Last night he had an accident in the house which he hasn't done since he was a puppy and he's been in digestive distress since 1am. He is not responsive to stimulation on his back lets/paws. He's not eating much. His walking is wobbly.

I am pretty sure it's time for us to be planning his time to go to rest. It's heartbreaking. When he was a little puppy he could sit in the palm of my hand. 15 years has been so very many adventures...

Kätzchen 07-19-2020 02:09 PM

I've been adopted by a beautiful dog, who is female, and she's a mixed breed of part Golden Lab and part Bulldog. She's about 7 years old, she's got cataracts developing in her eyes, but she is extremely smart, terribly loving and she comes to see me practically every day. She belongs to a tenant at my work campus, and he walks her twice a day: early mornings and late afternoons. He's an engineer, who has his own consulting practice and his dog just loves me. Her name is.... Sausage. I bought some organic treats for her today, so next time I see her at work, I have a special treat just for her.

Gemme 07-19-2020 03:03 PM

Loki ate a cricket! I saw one in the bathroom and I called for the cats. Loki was the first to arrive so I pointed the cricket out to him to see what he'd do. Apparently, he was hungry. Usually he just watches them and leaves them for me to deal with as Gracie has more of a prey drive but today he ate everything but two legs. Gracie was late to the party and did not want the legs. I dunno; I love a good chicken leg. Can't be much different, right? Maybe if I fried it for them....

I aure am sorry your "old man dog" as you call him is having such difficulties. You will figure out what is best for him. I really feel for you.

easygoingfemme 07-20-2020 07:56 AM

After a lot of fretting over the weekend I had a good talk with our vet this morning. We are taking the old man off of the steroids as they are likely causing his digestive distress and loss of bladder control. Then we monitor and wait and see. I have five steroids left and he said I can break them in half and give him low doses if he shows symptoms again but it's more of a - watch for quality of life now.

He was really happy today after being off of the steroids for 48 hours- took off running in the back yard chasing a bunny and watching ducks fly over the river.

My old lady cat had four breakfasts by 8am. She has developed this scream like she's literally going to die if you don't put food in front of her. She's just at a point where she can't remember if she ate or not. I just wish it would put a little weight on her. She's so tiny but she has been for the last two years. Part of her aging.

The other two cats are weighing in at about 18 pounds each and are pretty much just finding spots to lounge in the sun. It's too hot for them to wrestle like they like to but I'm pretty sure they are giving each other stink eye a lot.

RockOn 07-20-2020 09:31 PM

Kevin, Jennifer and Jeffrey were lazy today but did not want to be. It was in the upper 90s (97 degrees) and the humidity was also unbearable. They would try to run and play, wrestle ... in 5 minutes were sprawled in the shade panting. I put ice cubes in their water when we went outside. Right now I have the a.c. turned down really low, quite chilly in here, all 3 are asleep on the bed.

Gemme 07-26-2020 03:04 PM

The a/c is humming and Gracie is enjoying the brunt of it as she lay on the back of the sofa curled into a tiny floof ball. Loki left the bathroom, which is his new 'alone' spot, and is dozing on the top level of the 4 tier cat tree and also right next to the air conditioner. They may be goofy but they ain't dumb. It's 95 out there and swamp water humid.
