Our Daily Sloth Squeee

Kelly-Anne Kelleher has described how she bought the toy from a gift shop as a substitute for the infant sloth's parent. ''I want the baby to use all the muscles that he'd be using if he was on his mother,'' she said. ''He is able to climb all the way around the teddy and make himself comfy however he wants to be''. Keepers hope that once the sloth starts feeding himself and puts on weight, he will be reintroduced to his natural family. http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-33729545 |

Homme de Plume: What I Learned Sending My Novel Out Under a Male Name
Sexism is alive and well in the publishing industry, which probably comes as a surprise to no one. After unsuccessfully attempting to publish under her female name, this writer tried the same manuscript under a male name: Quote:

Netflix announces its new 'Unlimited' maternity and paternity program leave program.
*Well done Chief Talent Officer Tawni Cranz! Perhaps a few more companies could follow suit. https://media.licdn.com/mpr/mpr/shri...ea/3e522c0.jpg In a blog post, the company outlined its unlimited maternity and paternity leave program. Its Chief Talent Office, Tawni Cranz, said: At Netflix, we work hard to foster a “freedom and responsibility” culture that gives our employees context about our business and the freedom to make their own decisions along with the accompanying responsibility. With this in mind, today we’re introducing an unlimited leave policy for new moms and dads that allows them to take off as much time as they want during the first year after a child’s birth or adoption. We want employees to have the flexibility and confidence to balance the needs of their growing families without worrying about work or finances. Parents can return part-time, full-time, or return and then go back out as needed. We’ll just keep paying them normally, eliminating the headache of switching to state or disability pay. Each employee gets to figure out what’s best for them and their family, and then works with their managers for coverage during their absences. Netflix’s continued success hinges on us competing for and keeping the most talented individuals in their field. Experience shows people perform better at work when they’re not worrying about home. This new policy, combined with our unlimited time off, allows employees to be supported during the changes in their lives and return to work more focused and dedicated. http://techcrunch.com/2015/08/04/net...leave-program/ http://www.thetvaddict.com/wp-conten...03/netflix.jpg |

What kind of a kid were you?
Take the quiz http://www.zimbio.com/quiz/HDAlrUAkg...Guess+Kind+Kid Ace was a studious clown AND jock. It was great making all A's, many of my little girl classmates wanted to sit close because I told them they could copy my tests. They wanted good grades and I wanted to sit close to them. Win and win. :) http://www.mellowdramatic-lifetothef...s-46598389.jpg |

I had to do it - you should have started a thread with this Ace. You Are A Smartypants Nothing made you happier than turning in extra credit and receiving a big red A+ for your effort. You lived for exams and getting placed in advanced classes and you prided yourself on learning new things even in your spare time. You probably went on to start a brilliant tech company, right? (edited to add I started a thread).. laughing. |

According to Napoleon G. Stevenson:
Here are some sure ways maintain a normal level of insanity: 1. At Lunch Time, Sit in Your Parked Car with Sunglasses on and point a Hair Dryer at Passing Cars.... See If They Slow Down. 2. Page Yourself Over The Intercom. Don't Disguise Your Voice! 3. Every Time Someone Asks You to Do Something, ask If They Want Fries with that. 4. Put Decaf In The Coffee Maker For 3 Weeks. Once everyone has gotten over Their Caffeine Addictions, Switch to Espresso. 5. In the Memo Field Of All Your Checks, Write ' For Marijuana. 6. Skip down the hall Rather Than Walk and see how many looks you get. 7. Order a Diet Water whenever you go out to eat, with a serious face. 8. Specify That Your Drive-through Order Is 'To Go'. 9. Sing Along At The Opera. 10. Five Days In Advance, Tell Your Friends You Can't Attend Their Party Because You have a headache. 11. When The Money Comes Out The ATM, Scream 'I Won! I Won!' 12. When Leaving the Zoo, Start Running towards the Parking lot, yelling 'Run for Your Lives! They're Loose!' 13. Tell Your Children Over Dinner, 'Due To The Economy, We Are Going To Have To Let One Of You Go.' And The Final Way To Keep A Healthy Level Of Insanity 14. PICK UP A BOX OF CONDOMS AT THE PHARMACY, GO TO THE COUNTER AND ASK WHERE THE FITTING ROOM IS |
