Hi Kiri, today we are haveing a second fantastic rainy, cloudy day thats is 85,yesterday was 77,I dont care how this happened but it is welcome after so many days of 101heet.
I have no idea how buff I will be but I will be a lot lighter if at all possable.Today I went to put out a fue job apps( still got the other one but time to move on if I can)I put on my suit...lo and be hold I thought my pants were going to fall off,I didnt have another pair of grey dress pants so I wore them any way.How did I do this, beleave it or not its the diabetic diet im on plus the near daily workouts.I thought I wouldnt have any energy with out all the carbs,wrong..yes, it is an ajustment but my body has ajusted and I feel great.THe thing thas has helped is haveing a test meeter and useing it three times or more times a week to check my sugar count,at first it was 103 then 104 then 101 today was a perfect 85,with a metter I can keep a check on if in processing carbs or not if not cut back till I do.It has taken close to two weeks to get to this point.

Its quiet sofar in the neighborhood,we wre haveing a fireworks ban cause at the moment its 101 outside, the whole state is dry as tender.Im spending the weekend hideing in the house staying very close to the a.c.

We have been having (thank the universe!) a lot of rain, so the fireworks are on. The little town I live in is very active at holidays. Down at the rec center, they are having a little 4th of July Festival with fireworks out over the two lakes that are central to town. Don't know who if any of the kids will be here, but those of us who are will be down at the park to watch the fireworks - I love them - OOOPs the neighbors are starting the fireworks off early - I hear them out the window as I am typing.

Happy 4th y'all!
Smooches,
Keri

Yikes! I always worry about fires over the 4th. So many idiots that do their own. And that is so nuts as there are beautiful fireworks all across the SF Bay. One of the best places to go and see them is acyually my local dog park. It is huge, has tables and several benches and looks right over to the SF skyline. Perfect! Lots of room for people to plop down and there are even some public BBQ's there.

Tomorrow is going to be very warm here- unusually so. I hope people just go to the public fireworks and not do stupid things. We had a fire a few blocks up from me on a hillside a couple of days ago due to kids and fireworks. It could have spread to homes quite easily.

I bet you will be by the ac! But I hope you have a good weekend nonetheless!

When they do have fireworks I usely would like to call the popo on a neighbor on the corner cause he dosent just pop regular fireworks he gets the big stuff that shouldnt be used in a place with so many houses as hear, last year he set his own yard on fire and nearly the house cause he was careless. The next day several of us had to take our fur kids to the vet for nervous shakes..my pug wont eat for days after a fireworks holliday, this year I am armed with something to calm both a bit.
The best place to watch fireworks is on the park way down by the river, the casinos all pop them from a barge in the river so ists quite a show. This year they had an indoor party that was just as good as the one with fire works cause I hear thay gave out cash vouchers thst rainged fron ten bucks to 500,it was one of those swipe the players card to see what u got things.
Have a happy forth my friend.

Up here in this Northern Ca. farming community the fireworks show is at the fairgrounds but there are also fireworks stands all over town where people can buy fireworks for their own use. I wish California would outlaw fireworks except for celebrations done by pros in safe locations--Ca, is just too dry and lots of fires are started by firworks every year. I always stay close to home on the fourth because I worry about neighbors setting loud stuff off (or shooting their guns) and spooking the horses. It is now a little past midnight and someone close by is already setting off firecrackers. I will probably go to the neighbors across the street for a bar-b-que. Hope everyone has a great 4th.

Speaking of BBQ....

Can anyone recommend a good alternative to a hibachi grill?? I loved mine, finally lost it moving long ago.

My hands are badly damaged from over use, and although I want to have another hibachi, I know I will not be able to pick it up, let alone move it around all summer or winter while camping. I would prefer something tougher than a cheepy Wally World one/or two use grill, the kind that look disposable. But it needs to be light enough for me to pick up and carry in the same day.

Does any one have other ideas for BBQ-ing that maybe don't use a BBQ grill per se?

Anyone wanna share how they found alternative methods to do "whatever" around the house or garage or where ever?? I love my grabber, don't get the cheepy one, you will spend more time cussing than picking up. But now I have to use both hands or wait for someone to help me..... btw, cats are no help in this area.......:glasses:

Thanks in advance

Hey Bliss:
How about one of the many, many models of "Tail Gater" grills. Those have to be utilitarian, lightweight, and easily folded and packed away! I am not sure where to look, but maybe google tailgating grills..and see???Good luck, hon! Clay

Hello all you silver foxes! Hi Keri! This is an awesome thread! Thanks for starting it! I have subscribed to it! Looks like it has been quiet lately! Maybe we can get folks back in and start it back up hot and heavy again!!!! <smile>
Keri, I have spoken with you on the Floridian Thread! I was in Jax...but have recently had to move back to SC! My doctor is here and I will be having an Out Pt. surgical procedure in the next couple months! This is where my deceased wife and I lived for 15 years! I have been "widowed" for 2.75 years....:(.
I have enjoyed following everyone's posts here! I trust this will find everyone well and having some great days! Looking forward to seeing more posts and making new friends!!! Have a great day!!! Clay
