I just need to, somehow, send a CD with 5 pictures of my bags...I just thought that the 'name' of the bag could somehow be seen, like under the picture...but, it's not a big deal...the order is more important, but I think I will just burn one and see what order it shows up in, then I can make yet another disk with the pictures as I want them to be shown...ha!! at least I hope I can...

as for resizing them, I don't know that it can be done in this life time...I am not, as you might have gathered, a computer-guy (sic)... :)

Ah.. now I understand what you want.

Yes, you can name them under it. So you could call them like the following:

nina-fancy-bag-1.jpg
nina-super-fancy-bag-2.jpg
etc..

Use a number in the name to indicate order. :)

That's up to you but I would avoid spaces, brackets [] or parenthesis () in the name.

My pleasure. As I've always said, I do like to try to help people get the most out of their computers (which are really tools) and remove some of the frustration so that you can enjoy life more. :cheesy:

thank you so much for your generous help...it was nice of you to take the time...

I am now off to burn my First CD...

all the best

norton?

How might one's IP address "disappear" and how might one get said address to "re-appear" sans magic of course?

Uh... HUH? Can you put this into a little more context? What are you referring to?

See, I thought I WAS speaking your language, sorry :)

Long story shortish...I was unable to connect to the internet, called the service provider, there wasn't an issue with their service or their equipment, they asked me to provide them with my IP address and when I did, they informed me that my original IP address was no longer valid, that the original IP address had "disappeared" and was replaced with an IP address that begins with two digits instead of three? so I would need to call the manufacturer of the computer for more information.

Off to google more. I thank you, Liz thanks you more!

Linus 09-19-2010 09:58 PM

Let me guess. It started with 10. something? If that is the case there is a special range of ip addresses that are reserved as "private addresses". These are not meant to be routed on the Internet. Think of it like a gated community that doesn't receive direct mail. You have to have a post office box to get your mail.

In this case if you cannot get out on to the Internet the router (the thing connected to your modem, which is connected directly to the Internet) is likely the problem. Is thisma wired or wireless connection?

Hi Linus,
I don't know if I did something or if I am having problems viewing the sight. I'm still getting to know my IMac so it coud be me. Last night I was scrolling down in a thread and the fonts got huge and now I can't get them back to normal. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

It sounds like the fonts may have changed. This can be resolved by going to View --> Zoom and then choosing Zoom out or Zoom Text Only and then choosing Zoom In or Zoom out.

*placing a quarter on the desk*

hi Linus :)

For the last few weeks (maybe longer, who knows), my hard drive occasionally makes the noise like it's trying to read a disk, only it's empty. It'll do it once or twice then stop. (win xp)

It does it randomly; i can be reading threads here, in my email, or playing solitaire.

Any thoughts?

Thanks so much!!

Do you mean Floppy Drive? If not, then I do not quite understand what you mean since reading the hard drive would indicate that there is a hard drive to read.

Now, if it is the floppy drive, did you recently access a document from a floppy disk? Because if you did, XP tries to keep a cache of recently accessed documents and is probably trying to see if it can find it. You can try the following to see if that stops it.

Go to Start --> control panel --> taskbar AND Go to start menu/[start menu]/[customize]/[advanced]

and at the very bottom click on the
[CLEAR LIST] button

Hey Linus,

I'm looking into connecting both my computer towers to one monitor. I have researched this and the best answer *I* see is the KVM switch.

Do you have any suggestions, or ideas?

Linus 10-29-2010 12:26 PM

There's a whole variety of KVM switches out there. A lot will depend on the kind of video/monitor connections you have (analog, DVI, etc.).

You can find a selection here: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...=778&srkey=kvm

Sassybren 10-29-2010 04:35 PM

Thank you. That is much better now

If I wanted to post the following YouTube: h.ttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=teMlv3ripSM

I would just take the part after the = sign and put it between the YouTube tags like so (without the space):

[youtube]teMlv3ripSM[/ youtube]

Let me know if that helps.
