Love of Artists: Dancers:Dorotea Saykaly
"PAINTED" The first in a trilogy (check out the sequel, "Brief Candle", at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wQXzi...) of screendance films about our tug-of-war with wilderness. Here we explore a building's decay. The choreography and original score are both in decrescendo to illustrate the building's retreat from the physical world, and Nature's advance on it. Awarded Best Dance Film at the 2012 Fastnet Short Film Festival, and nominated for Best of Festival and Best Original Music. Greco |
Love of Artists: Dancers: Momo Sanno
Elements of Life: Air, Earth, Water, Metal, Fire - Contemporary Dance Choreography & Performing Artist: Momo Sanno http://www.momosanno.com “When I was creating the idea for the elements, I was trying to express, to embody the fact that we are not alone. It is not only us as humans on this Earth. We are connected, we are one. We are part of nature, we are not against the natural way of the world. In our body, we find all the main elements, earth, water, fire, metal. There is a sublime connection that takes place between us, our self and the natural world that surrounds us. And when we allow this conversation to take place, we find a deeper understanding, and the selfless aspect of our being loosens its solidity, it can even dissipate for a period of time, and we can sink into a deeper world, one that does not put accent on separation but on Ones”. Love of Artists Painter Rene Magritte
Rene Magritte: A collection of 376 paintings (HD) "Rene Francois Ghislain Magritte was a surrealist artist who created such works of art that intrigue the observers’ minds and force them to question their own perceptions of reality. The most admirable thing about this artist was that he steered clear of elaborate imagery or intricate designs while using simple graphics and day-to-day objects to create paintings that gave newer meaning to already existing notions. He had the reputation of having the ability to make people think through the witty messages he conveyed through his drawings. He had began drawing as a young boy and realized that he wanted to spend the whole of his life drawing, sketching and painting. A tragic incident that happened in his childhood deeply influenced his painting style—his mother committed suicide by drowning and her body was found with her dress covering her face. This imagery stayed with him and is reflected in many of his paintings where the object’s face is not exposed. He initially followed an impressionist style of painting though he later on became more inclined towards surrealism. Before becoming a successful artist he used to design wallpapers and illustrate advertisements—whatever work he did, he was always a true artist at heart. Today, he is widely recognize." Greco |

Love of Artists: Chilean Painter Claudio Bravo
The Art of CLAUDIO BRAVO The Art of CLAUDIO BRAVO (part 2) Claudio Bravo was born in Valparaiso, Chile, on November 8, 1936 and died on June 4, 2011 in Taroudant, Morocco. He was a hyperrealist, largely self-taught painter, greatly influenced by Renaissance, Baroque artists and Surrealist painters such as Salvador Dalí. He was also influenced by his adopted country, Morocco, where he lived and worked for over thirty years. The Moroccan people as well as the country's textiles, pottery, architecture, plants, and flowers form the subjects of many of Bravo's exquisite paintings and drawings. Suffused with the special light of Morocco, they testify to a grand lineage of artistic inspiration and exploration between Western and Arabic worlds. But along with dazzling technique and refined beauty, Bravo's paintings also manifest a transcendental spirituality and an exceptional fidelity to both the magnificent and the homely. Greco |

You Can Download 200 Art Books Free From the Guggenheim
BY SHAUNACY FERRO MAY 3, 2017 Too stingy for expensive art books? The Guggenheim has you covered. Since 2012, the museum has been slowly digitizing its collection of monographs, catalogs, and other art books. Now, it's up to 205 books, all available to download for free from the Internet Archive, as Vice's Creators reports. The collection includes books by legendary artists like Wassily Kandinsky, analyses of artistic movements like Futurism and German Expressionism, and monographs on everyone from Jenny Holzer to Picasso. Seriously, if you want to know anything about Kandinsky, the Guggenheim’s digitized collection is the place to go—there are 12 works in the digitized archive that are either by or about the Russian abstract artist. (The museum has one of the largest collections of Kandinsky’s works in the world, via the personal collection of Solomon R. Guggenheim himself.) The Guggenheim isn’t the only museum making its archives more accessible online. The Metropolitan Museum of Art has hundreds of its own books available online. The Getty’s virtual library launched in 2014 with 250 titles published by the museum, the Getty Conservation Institute, and the Getty Research Institute. http://mentalfloss.com/article/50058...ree-guggenheim |
