If you're going to be in the Seattle area, check out Emerald Smoothies! I believe this one is the bigger store on Broadway, but there are multiple locations throughout the city.. |
If your anywhere near the Kearne's neighborhood, an interesting neck of the woods, stop by Allport Editions. They're a greeting card business that's been in business since the early 1980s, and they design all kinds of cards via the art of Indie artists.

Thanks for the post :hangloose:
I have never been there BUT I've order a ton of cards from them! This is the type of store that I could spend hours in, so when I go I shall either go alone or with someone who loves cards as much as I! |

If you're in Seattle take a ferry ride and head over to Bainbridge Island! If you want to have a nice little picnic lunch down by the gazebo, stop into Town and Country Market at 343 Winslow Way E! Cheese, grapes, bread, hot deli foods, they have it all plus a great selection of wines and beer! |
If you're ever in the Seattle-Tacoma area, be sure to drop by the Bridge of Glass, which connects to the Glass Museum, and to other cultural exhibits in the area. Dale Chihuly is a legendary glass blowing artist, and his exhibits are breath-takingly gorgeous.

Purple Moon Inn and Mo's Seafood & Chowder Restaurant (Lincoln City)
My favorite place to stay at the coast is The Purple Moon Inn.
It's close by to Chinook Winds Casino, and sits on the north end of the coastal community in Lincoln City, Oregon. There are 3 suites. I've stayed in each one, they're simply beautiful and very charming. There are lots of places to shop for local art, kites, smoked salmon, and it's also home to Mo's Seafood & Chowder Restaurant..... very yummy food....which, Mo's sits on the southerly side of town, down by Siletz Bay. On any day, you can watch sea lions basking across the inlet and hear the pounding ocean surf. Kah-Nee-Ta Resort & Spa Located on the high desert, past Mt. Hood, somewhat near Madras, Oregon is an resort located on tribal lands of the Warm Springs Indian Reservation. Amenities include an unique spa of warm spring pools guarded by sculptures of Bear. The lodge and casino are not far from the spa. My favorite treat to get after soaking in the hot springs fed pools is Indian Fry Bread with Marionberry jam. Omg, it's a meal by itself and oh so scrumptious. Of course, to get there, you'll need to think carefully about the mileage per gallon of gas your car uses because the last place to get a reasonable price for gasoline is in Sandy (which is before you go up and over Mt. Hood). Otherwise, gasoline at small service stations nearest the resort is....fairly expensive. The pines on the high desert are idigeneous to the terrain. Red lava rock lines the ages old roads to drive on to the reservation. You will most likely notice the subtle hints of desert sage, pine, and other interesting vegetation scenting the air. And,,,,,, it's home to antelope, eagles, and bear and other ruminants living in the woods. Word to the wise: cell tower service is limited in this area. Go in the summer to late fall to enjoy it at peak season. There's nothing like the scent of desert rain at Kah-Nee-Ta. :stillheart: Web: www.kahneeta.com (Image courtesy of Travel Oregon). |

In Other Words
This unique women's center used to be located in the Hawthorne dist. of Portland Oregon, but now finds its home in the Albina neighborhood, deep in the northeast sector of Portland. It's a place for feminists and Lesbian members of the community to gather and plan projects of outreach to others in the greater Portland area. I once used to drop by the original Hawthorne location to browse books or magazines or buy post cards or attend gatherings. At heart of the organization's mission is the fact that they are an independent book store, carrying books which center upon women's issues and more importantly, Lesbian issue's. They host events and also provide other resources for feminists and Lesbian's, alike. Pittock Mansion
Located in the swanky west hills of Portland Oregon sits atop the skyline of Portland a French Renaissance château. ...which offers personal guided tours and expansive grounds with birds eye views of the greater Portland city area and Mt Hood. Spend a day finding out the history of the family who once built it and lived in it and subsequent ownership by other interesting socialites. I think it's one of the most romantic city offerings we have in Portland.... not far from Pittock Mansion is the Rose Gardens. It's also just as romantic and beautiful. Both historical landmarks are favorite locations for weddings and especially for Winter Holiday festivities.
