I also have an iPad2 and I love it! I use it to take notes on, watch movies on, etc. The graphics are phenomenal. My laptop is in the shop right now and I'm actually using my iPad2 to access the Internet.

the iphone4 is a good one yes?? it would be my first iphone, and I love my Mac and Ipod touch!

Yes, it's very good. After I figured out (with Incubus' help) how to work my IPT4, I was refusing to buy that expensive data plan and the IPT4 and my cell phone plan were all I needed. Transition to the phone was so simple.

Honestly, I can't imagine needing more. It even has a flashlight.

Jessica 09-30-2011 10:52 AM

I love my iPhone 4..its attached to me at the hip. I rarely ever go somewhere without it. Mine is jailbroken. Jailbreaking the iPhone makes it more customizable among other things. I do see an iPhone 5 in my future :)

girl_dee 09-30-2011 11:15 AM

The EVO has a slideout keypad that I would love to have..

I got an Iphone for $200 from Verizon because my "smartphone" was the dumbest damn phone I've eva had. I love the Iphone but do not like apple computers. YB, a flashlight but no DUCT TAPE! Ah... well it is almost perfect LOL

LOL, it's an app...and it's free....(drains the battery quickly) I was expecting a wise crack. And speaking of duct tape. I saw PINK at home depot.

Jailbroken means removing restrictions put on the iPhone by Apple or AT&T. Usually means a modified iOS and the ability to install apps not approved by Apple. It also violates the warranty and any Apple Care you have is no longer usable.

Thanks Linus. I guess I don't need to know how that makes it more customizeable then.

I've seen them do some crazy things with the IPT4 on utube and thought, now why would you want to do that......

whistles......

True- so worth it though :) and you can always go back to the way it came out of the box. But it is a risk you take because it can brick your phone and then your SOL.

Daktari 09-30-2011 04:51 PM

A young lady I once had a... errrrrm!... 'liaison' with, offered me a 16gb iPhone 3gs on facebook, saying that she'd taken it back from a particularly gruesome ex in the last year. I'm desperate for a new mobile phone (mine is 2 and half years old and struggling) and I'm one of the original mac fan-boys so an iPhone would be ace.....so, yes please says I.

Long story short...Jailbroken, unlocked from network...IMEI number blocked...can't be used in UK, anywhere else, but not UK...Bloody buggery bastard!...Now have a 16gb iPod Touch as well as the 32gb iPod Touch I already own...*sigh*

Research says that the IMEI cannot be unblocked by a third party software. *sigh x2*

If it looks too good to be true...it is! :o

Apple I am

I love my MacBook Pro, iPad2 and I'm planning on getting the new iPhone as soon as it comes out with Sprint, which I hear will be Oct. 5th. It's really amazing what one can do with these little toys.

Gayla 10-04-2011 09:40 PM

The latest thing I heard today is that preorders will start Oct. 5 with possible delivery as soon as Oct. 12. I don't know if I'll be upgrading in the first batch but I'm excited to trade my old 3G in for a 4S. Based on the current plan, the whole family will be 4S'ing here shortly.

I'm also thinking there may be an iPad in our future at some point. :)

Steve Jobs Dead @ 56

I can't believe how sad this makes me about someone I don't even know.

What a genius he was.

I love my IPhone, IPod and am getting ready to buy an IPad2.

Thank you for your vision Steve and RIP.

girl_dee 10-05-2011 07:14 PM

Got my first iphone yesterday, holy smokes it's great!

Love my macbook pro and my ipod touch... I have loved Macs since the beginning!

RIP Mr Jobs...

RIP Steve

Thank you, Steve, for all of the insanely great tech you've given us. Thanks for bringing the personal computer into homes and schools. Thanks for helping create the future and making it possible for us to live in the world we read about in the cyberpunk novels of the 80s. Lastly, thank you for helping create the world of geek chic.

Aj

Linus 10-05-2011 08:21 PM

Ah, Steve Jobs. You changed an industry by doing some simple things. You showed that people didn't need to have the same boring look at computers and that it could be fun indeed.

You showed that the hype by some wasn't necessarily the truth and ask us to "Think Different" when it came to looking at the world.

Because of an Apple Macintosh SE, I got into computers. It showed that I didn't need to be a super math genius but have the necessary logic as to how things worked. It gave me confidence to explore more than that with various flavours of Unix and Linux.

More importantly thanks for revolutionizing computers into more than just glorified calculators, office systems and gaming platforms. A lot of what Apple brought to IT made it possible for us to have the variety we do.

Your genius and your vision that you brought to Apple, the IT industry (and the rest of the world) will be greatly missed.

Arwen 10-06-2011 12:21 AM

I saw a quote.

Three apples changed the world. Eve and the Garden of Eden. Newton. Steve Jobs.

I'm grossly paraphrasing. He was so young.

good one Linus!

I found these tips in a magazine recently...

Two- Button Screenshot: to take a picture of what's on your iphone screen:
1) Press Home and On/Off simultaneously.
2) The screenshot will be added to your Camera Roll

To copy an image in Safari, press on the images and hold until Save Image pops up. The image will be saved to your Camera Roll.

Double Click App
Set your iphone so that double tapping the Home button brings up an application, such as Camera.
1) Go to Settings, General and Home: Search, Phone Favourites, Camera or ipod.

iphone Keyboard Shortcuts
Insert punctuation quickly without having to view symbol options every time:
1) To add punctuation to your Alpha keyboard, press the 123 to see numbers and symbol options.
2) Keeping your finger on the screen, slide until you are touching the symbol you want to insert. As you release your finger from the screen, the symbol will be entered into your text and you'll be back the Apha keyboard.

Delete text using Gesture Controls
Instead of holding down DELETE to erase a line of text, here's an easier way:
1)Shake the handset.
2)You'll get a pop-up message asking if you'd like to "Undo typing" or "cancel". Choose undo and the last entered text will be gone.

There is also a display character count in messages short cut that I will type out of anyone is interested.

Is this a MacBook, MacBook Pro, iMac, Mac Tower?

This feels like an issue with a laptop-based Mac and could be an issue with the trackpad and pressing on the sides too much (I get this sometimes). If you are using a wireless mouse, may be time for a new battery.

girl_dee 10-06-2011 06:54 PM

maybe a key is stuck somewhere! or your computer is possessed.

cinderella 10-06-2011 07:06 PM

Linus, this is a MacBook - refurbished, I could'nt afford a new one. Also, I've tried posting songs from YouTube, and can't the way I did on my PC. Can you tell me how to do that? Thanks in advance.

Let's deal with one issue at a time.

Your mouse: is it the trackpad or are you using an external mouse?

I think my next phone will be an iPhone 4S
In memory of Steve Jobs!

Kelt 10-15-2011 03:49 PM

Well, I finally pulled the trigger on ordering a smartphone, yep, my first one.

iPhone 4s because I have an iMac. With any luck they can just talk to each other and leave me alone. I'm pretty sure the phone will be smarter than I am.

Considering hiring a 12 year old to shadow me for a couple of days when it gets here to teach me the ways of the world.

What have I gotten into?

You'll love having a smartphone. The computer in your pocket! Have fun with your new toy. :cheesy:

Kelt 10-25-2011 11:22 AM

My Mac now has it's own little mini-me. I may be a little disturbed.

It is in it's dock; I assume they are communing in some way.

Set up seemed simple enough. My Wi-Fi is named Hal.

I hope that isn't some kind of predictor.

I guess this means I have joined the current century.

Hmm

More tea

I <3 my MacBook Pro and iPhone 4 (running the new iOS 5)

ButchEire 10-25-2011 11:44 AM

"i" am addicted to everything Apple and have a MacBook Pro, iPad and iPod touch. I need therapy

ruby_woo 10-25-2011 01:25 PM

I've been an iDork for years, and gasped when I heard about Steve Jobs, although I knew he'd been sick for awhile.

My elementary school actually had the old-school Macs, and that's what I originally learned to use a computer on. My high school and college were all Mac school's as well.

For a high school graduation present, my parents bought me one of the candy coloured iBooks, which I had for about 8 years. About two years ago, I saved my money to buy a white MacBook. I also have an iPod touch, and an iPhone 3GS. I have no idea what I did before I got an iPhone.

I am thinking of getting the 4S. I can tell my phone is starting to get a little buggy. After upgrading to iOS5, my music screen frequently freezes on me, and I have to restart the whole phone. :annoyed: It's getting slower as well.

No iPad, as I'm still torn between an iPad and a Kindle.

I converted my partner as well, and she bought herself a refurbished MacBook Pro last year.

untangle 10-25-2011 02:05 PM

I am an Apple geek! Ever since I purchased the iPod Color in 2005..? I have been addicted and wanting more.

Today I have a MBP, iPhone 4, and a shuffle and usually try find an excuse to get another product or upgrade.

Surprisingly enough, I haven’t purchased the Lion OS because I did hear about many issues and I’ve yet to be disappointed with Snow Leopard. :)

Help!

Ok I got my Macbook Pro 2 years ago, since then Snow Leopard and Lion have come out and since I love my laptop as it is, I haven;t upgraded.

Now I have an iphone and saw the iCloud app and all that glory. Is it worth it for me to upgrade all of this to get iCloud? Does anyone have this and love it?

I used the iCloud for bit on my iPhone 4 but found it was draining my battery like nothing else. That said, I would recommend at least upgrading to Snow Leopard. The security fixes and performance fixes would be enough, IMO, to do that upgrade at the least.

As for Lion, I've heard it has had repeated reports of issues and to wait until the first major update/fix for it.

I was so hoping you would chime in, thank you. I love everything about my Mac of course and very happy with my iphone so I am not going to futz with it. This is why I don't care about having the latest and the newest because the bugs always come with that.

vixenagogo 11-01-2011 04:39 PM

she's my latest crush.

Daktari 11-01-2011 04:42 PM

I've upgraded to IOS 5 but am not using iCloud. It only provides a limited amount of storage unless you pay.

I'm on Snow Leopard but considering Lion as it's not very expensive to upgrade - although also in consideration is how much I would use the 'extra features'.
