Whoever thought there was a name for what I do when in classes and meetings? Cool.

Diva 05-27-2011 07:03 PM

I did a ZenTangle ~ started on it yesterday and finished it this morning......there's a picture of it in my Gallery......

It IS very calming!

femmennoir 05-29-2011 06:59 PM

Visited today Kiteya, a Japanese store which had offered a groupon (or a bloomspot coupon), in Soho (Broom Street). Charming shop, where I got hand made Japanese origami paper, a book on how to use textiles to wrap Japanese style, and a little black silk zipped pouch for lipstick and sundries. Owners really charming too, they gave me a little gift for having visited! (Japanese incense wrapped in silk). They have a nice selection of Japanese hand made paper.

Elle*, who is almost ready to start the risky project.

Diva 05-29-2011 07:27 PM

Elle.....I just visited their website! What lovely things! >> LINKY~LOO <<

I've posted some more ZenTangles in my Gallery!! :)

This is definitely the type of store I could go bonkers in. How lovely!

And thank you, Diva, for the link!

femmennoir 05-30-2011 05:11 AM

Thank you, Diva, for posting the link! I hate to say I don't know how to post links! However, my project is coming along, I have almost all the materials, and although the technique will be risky for me, I kept the previous aborted theme of "wet dreams"! My visit to Kiteya inspired some of the steps I will take! Enough said!

femmennoir 05-30-2011 07:21 PM

So suddenly I was inspired and made the prototype for my "Risk", and liked it, and now I have made three of them! Coming along nicely, with actually two new (for me) techniques! I will be early!

femmennoir 05-31-2011 04:08 PM

Risky business!

I am now finished and waiting for the address to mail them!! The risk paid off I think!

Elle*

femmennoir 06-01-2011 06:58 AM

Risky business mailed this morning! Yeah!!!!! How is everyone doing?

Elle*

amiyesiam 06-01-2011 11:00 AM

good afternoon to all

I hope to work on and finish my risk project on my days off!

femmennoir 06-02-2011 04:42 AM

un oubli!

I...hum....just realized that I did not include the $ in the envelope! It will be in the mail today! By the way, Jennifer, the Femme Tea on June 11th is at Francia, the lovely vegan Korean Tea House on the UES, 2:30pm....Just sayin'...

Elle*, very contrite

Diva 06-03-2011 09:21 PM

Hey Y'all.....I have a question.......

Several of us have participated in our projects for a while now. How do You store them? At first, I was putting them in a photo box....since outgrown!

Ideas?

Gemme 06-03-2011 09:30 PM

I'm still working on a good system for that. Right now, I have some in the original mailers/packaging and tucked away in my footlocker or a plastic tub. Some are semi-loose in the plastic boxes and tubs and some are just kinda sitting around, waiting for me to figure out what the Hell to do with them.

There are a few pieces that I would like to showcase and plan on either putting them in cases and hanging the decorative cases and/or using open boxes and blocks mounted on the wall and tucking the project inside.

amiyesiam 06-03-2011 10:00 PM

when my basket of projects got full
I pulled out my absolute favorites and put them in an album
and am now filling up the basket again!

Pixie 06-03-2011 10:20 PM

I kinda do what Gemme does. I have a under the bed tub (with wheels) and have them in there organized by the round in their package :D

I am just keeping them in a so unglamorous, large, mailing box. It works for now. :)

femmennoir 06-03-2011 10:40 PM

I was thinking of a scrapbook for the projects, but of course I just have one batch!

Elle*

Diva 06-03-2011 11:34 PM

I think what I might do is get more plastic notebook sleeves and keep them in that....

femmedyke 06-04-2011 12:21 AM

111 pages in and 2218 posts later I think I want to play... but where and how do I start?

Welcome!

Done ...and thank you so kindly for the welcome! :)

femmennoir 06-04-2011 01:19 PM

Was in the West Village this morning and ran into the Jane Street Flea Market Day, and bought a set of Nepali deities woodblock printing set, complete with lokia paper, handmade from the bark of the daphne tree. They are: Buddha, Manjushri Bodhisattva of Wisdom, Green Tara the patron Goddess of Tibet in her aspect of motherly compassion, Maya-Devi the mother of Buddha, and Mayakali or Great Black One, the Protector.
They also came with an archival red pigment ink pad.

I don't know how I will use them, but they were only $5 for the set!

My risk project is done
well as done as it is going to get
I definately went out side my comfort zone

and it shows
it is what it is

Diva 06-06-2011 09:02 PM

I put my Riskaloos in today's mail......I'm admitting that it wasn't much of a risk, what I did. I started out on something totally different....and got so many paper cuts after doing TWO of them.....well.....I love Y'all, but those things HURT! So I had started something new and so I did a set of those.

Cryptics R Us. :eyebat:

Are we going to be working on our P.L.A.N.E.T. stuff now? Or are we doing another project? I don't see how I can....I'm going on vacation in a month (Road Trip!) and after that, I'll be getting ready for my very first show!! :)

Please send Prozac.

Tommi 06-06-2011 09:24 PM

Way back somewhere is a RISK LIST

Actually, yes and no. We're getting our p's and q's in order, but it won't be long now before an announcement will be made regarding decorations for the Reunion. It's a fun, easy project and those who would like to participate are more than welcome.

As soon as we have all the info, we'll post the details in here! :)

Congrats on your SHOW, you infamous artist, you!!!! That's a HUGE deal, so we would understand if you have enough on your plate without that project.

We should ALL be working on our PLANET pages so they can be sent to Pixie (preferrably) before she moves far, far away in a couple of months. *sad face that's happy for her but will miss her bouncy energy HERE*

Tommi, I don't think anyone has dropped out and the deadline to mail is the 15th of this month.

I engaged in very risky...or was it risque?....business earlier tonight, but that's for another thread. :eyebat:

Diva 06-07-2011 08:09 AM

I have two rough drafts completed for my *Planet* project... Now I just need to decide which one I want to do...

nycfem 06-07-2011 08:46 AM

RISK PROJECT: 11 projects to be postmarked to me on/by June 15th :)

I have received Lionpaw's and Femmenoir's :)

Now on to my question: Diva, tell us all about your first show!!! Some of us want to live vicariously through you, our celebrity artist! And, in fact, I'd love to hear anytime one of us has some art success. It's encouraging, inspiring, and informational for probably everyone who hangs out on this thread!

nycfem 06-07-2011 08:47 AM

Do the one that feels riskier ;)

Oh Lord, the PRESSURE!!!!! lol
I hope I haven't jumped the gun.....it's a juried show and I haven't been accepted yet! And while I hate rejection, I am willing acceptance....so there You have it!:praying:

It's the Old Pecan Street Fall Festival, the last weekend in September. They just had their spring show last month....I certainly wasn't ready for that one. But I loved just walking around, checking out the booths. This year, I went with a different mindset than before....I went to check things out! My art, *I* believe, would fit in nicely.

So thank You, Jennifer, for Your sweet words....that made me smile and lifted my spirits! :heartbeat:
