I am all for communal living. When I first moved to the middle east (Israel) I lived on a Kibbutz and then a Moshav. The Kibbutz movement was/is so successful and is certainly similar to what the BFP community might look like. Everything a little city has, the Kibbutz and Moshav have.

In communities like this - there are sections of housing (independent) for families - seniors - young people. Which is pretty amazing. There is a main dining hall, which provides for those that want community, meals together. There is even dormitory housing for those who do not have families and are with limited funds. Recreation rooms - they even have a little time out space for naughty people. They handle everything within the community. And of course a bomb shelter (Jack!).

I would think since we are a community, we would have a rent structure based on what you can afford to bring in. We are here to take care of one another. If we brought in government section 8 housing for our members who were of minimal income, I believe we would also get great tax breaks. But I don't know the legalities of this. I just know, we need to take care of one another.

When I lived on Kibbutz, I was in charge of the animals - Now that I am old and decrepit. I don't want CHORES of that nature. I will work, but please don't ask me to wash dishes or cook (gasp) or OMG clean. I would prefer something not so tedious. I think it would be important to have a members of our community in the salon industry. We must have a salon. Mani's, Pedi's, Hair, Massage and of course facials.

Can you imagine being in our (some of us) golden years and being safe. Knowing we are loved always and not forgotten. Watching our younger community members start families. OMG - We could be grandparents to a whole new generation.

I would like a 2 bedroom (1 bath is fine) -- Square footage can be minimal, as we would have the external structures to get more space from.

I am ready.

110 acres next to a river

Well if you get to do that...then I definitely want to live in the section that resembles Hard Rock Cafe' interior/exterior. You know how I love my neon lights. And also have a place for my electric guitars to be on display and have a light up drum set.

I have a funny feeling it's going to be a major boi cave. Even better, a place for folks like me to chill out and kick back!

I would love this, especially with owr own condos or houses part! The idea of Wolfie's coffee every morning sounds divine! Mess hall yes! But ability to eat alone if we wanna.

I can offer ability to cater for large numbers of people
If we did a hostel or B&B I have experience in all aspects of hotel management.
I am excellent with administrative logistics, food ordering etc.
Planning events and parties
Good mediator and listener
Cats love me!
I can always find soy milk! (for Zimmehhhhhhh :) )

I would like to see people who break up act like adults and be able to get past and continue living the dream in our compound!

A library would be nice
a Pool
Meditation space

Um, I am not very outdoorsey and want to just say up front....please don't ever bring me anything you caught fishing or killed hunting for me to do anything with and they better not be brought in the kitchen. GROSS. Also, I am not farming nor taking care of horses, I am allergic to them and hay.

I will probably need a chaise lounge near Nat's for reading and lounging. I also have cat like tendencies...lol.

Hopefully we will be close enough to a city for me to go to work, or lets start internet companies. I would way rather work than farm. lol.

Pool, library, media center with theatre and internets, office center with fax, copy, print, a "trading post" where folks can donate good used stuff for others to pick up when needed, a lounge with music and pool tables, a coffee bar, etc.

Fairly self-sufficient but with enough space that you could have down time if you needed!

I think we also need a place of worship (all denominations) for those who have a religion or a spiritual path. I would also love to see a labyrinth and OMG a Peace Pole. We must have a Peace Pole.

I want I want - I feel like the Veruca Salt in Willy Wonka.

Medusa 10-24-2011 10:25 AM

We also wouldn't be good queers without greenhouses, maypoles, and Kumbaya fire pits!

Can I put my beaver next to your pole?

We need to have a strong injunction against judging others. And that means on all levels including what pets people like, how people like to eat, hobbies, religion, politics, etc.

This is a link to a Sufi Community near me: The Abode of The Message

"Categories of Residence

There are three categories of residence at the Abode, and each has its own responsibilities. All three categories include a requirement of three hours per week of Karma Yoga. Residents must also participate in community work days, which occur one Saturday morning per month, when residents join together to complete necessary maintenance tasks and other seasonal projects.

Rent-paying Resident The Abode rents both rooms and apartments on the main campus.
Khidmat Work Study is a tradition that allows you to study the Sufi “path of the heart.” We ask for 25 hours of service per week, in exchange for room and board, and a dedication of 10 hours per week of Sufi studies designed by you and a chosen mentor to reflect your spiritual interests.
Hands and Heart Work Exchange is named in honor of our site’s Shaker heritage. Come experience our community while putting “hands to work and hearts to God.” This program requires 30 hours of service per week and in return we’ll provide you with room and board."

i read that as "no copperheads, bugs the size of your head, TOMATOES or humidity"

but i see that it said "tornadoes." Does that mean there WILL be tomatoes? Bleck.

I can handle your farm part- hens, garden, whatever.

I would love it but I would definitely want some privacy. Its nice have a social center then everything spread out. Weekly pot lucks/meals but a community kitchen for those who always wanted to share or couldnt cook

princessbelle 10-24-2011 11:23 AM

Maybe have "game night". Like hide and seek and red rover and mother may i and all those fantastic games that make you squeal!!!!!!!

It does not have to be a required thing, just if we wanna.

I love the water and no one would force anyone to attend nor watch...you know, if they did not want to.
