Hope everyone is safe out there.

I begged Pete to make sure that her mother's cell phone was plugged in, in case she lost power, but

Pete's mother does not know how to use her cell phone, not at all.

There have been times when we haven't been able to reach her, for one cockamamie reason or another. It is infuriating.

She thinks I'm sweet because I am concerned, but

It's Pete I am concerned about, and her worries and fears.

Well I've been watching a neighbor uncover her car for a good 40 minutes. She is now attempting to drive. Okay....

In any event the snow remains heavy and winds in the 30mph range.

I'll go dig out the car for exercise and just to get the first layer off. Then I'll clean and cook.

Ahahahaaaaa...

Had to walk it into work. Taxi services were backed up for an hour. Two feet of snow walking all the way in and in some spots to my crotch. Yessah bubb , its getting wicked nasty out there!

9 boys in shelter so I have plenty of shovelers to clear the drifts from the doors. Yay for teen boys on a snowy day!

Our snowfall doubled overnight...just measured 16 inches in my yard...drifting not too bad....still flaking out there.....the beauty of it is breath taking.... Happy you see you all safe and warm out on the coast!

On CNN I read that the ban was until 4 pm today...it started yesterday at 4. It said the ban won't officially be over until the governor lifts it but they said at least 4pm.

I will be leaving early tomorrow.

Off to the store I go, after about a foot or snow of snow overnight. Hold my coffee and watch this...

clay 02-09-2013 09:44 AM

BE CAREFUL when shovelling snow please!!

CIJS: To everyone...if you have to shovel snow...please exercise extreme caution..and shovel for a bit....rest..and shovel some more. Heart attacks tend to be more prone to happen to people who don't normally get such a cardio workout...and shovelling snow IS a major cardio workout..so PLEASE....Use extreme caution..I want to see everyone's smiling faces here for a long time...:vigil:

I can't imagine a whippet in deep snow! They have like the lowest BMI of the entire animal kingdom. But at least she doesn't have to deal with salt getting jammed up between the little velvety pads of her paws.

Bless my hipster landlord, in his neon green snow pants (no hat :|), wrangling a snowblower through the mountains of drifts that surround the house.

Here are a couple of photos I took this morning:

I've got to go take care of that soon before it becomes a volvo-cicle.

The garden that we traversed to get to the bike path, the drift to the left is the gas grill, and in the center the outdoor table and chairs.

she loves it but we keep a close eye on her and she is not out for long she loves to burrow in it then she throws herself at me to be picked up :police:

My wonderful neighbours had already shoveled part of my walk for me by the time I dragged my sorry butt out into a landscape covered in hideous white crap. Why do people like this stuff? It's cold and wet. In fact, it's the very definition of cold and wet since it's really just piles of fluffy ice crystals. Ice is always evil. I still can't figure out why anyone would volountarily leave a perfectly good house to flounder around in this kind of mess while wearing planks on their feet. I think they all must be mad.

I just finished shoveling out the car. I probably won't be able to convince myself to spend more time wallowing around in cold, white crap today, so my street motorcycles are going to have to wait another day to be rescued. At least they're under covers and the race bike is in the shed. Ugh.

easygoingfemme 02-09-2013 12:10 PM

All is well here. Snow has stopped and the sky is blue. I shoveled and shoveled and shoveled this morning. Driveway is clear. Dog is very happy. He loves when I shovel the snow right into his face so he can eat it.
Roads are very clear. I'm impressed.

Stay safe everyone, I know it's still pretty bad up the coast!
