Yes but they are interchangable terms - a jaguar is a panther

From the San Diego Zoo:

Most jaguars have tawny-colored fur with black rosettes, but some have black-on-black, or melanistic, coloration. (Click here to Spot the Cat Coats.) Usually jaguars that are found in darker rain forest areas are black. So, are they black panthers? No, there is no such animal! “Panther” is just an old general term that comes from the Panthera animal grouping name, and is sometimes used to describe leopards, jaguars, and pumas.

EDITED to add the promo for the next episode!

Hard to believe she was the same little girl...

betenoire 08-25-2010 05:51 AM

The actress (Brook Kerr) who was initially cast to play Tara:

Same scene, with my secret (it's a secret because she doesn't know) girlfriend Rutina Wesley:

I have no idea why Brook didn't end up playing the part, I really don't care. I'm just glad. She doesn't have....facial expressions. I don't know if I could stand watching her as Tara.

Of course, I could just be biased because I am "used to" Rutina as Tara. Or because I think Rutina is more attractive.

I'm really glad that the writers have given Tara more depth than what she started out with on the show. It's so good to see her doing things other than yelling at people. :)

Arwen 08-25-2010 09:48 AM

My son tells me that someone he knows has taken the Rolling Stones cover and photoshopped Sookie out. :)

MsMerrick 08-25-2010 09:50 AM

Well I watched the first 2 ..
Very interesting ;) ..Quite different from the book.. . But I do like the rendition of Sookie. Bill is pretty much exactly what I had in mind.. Have a lot to see to catch up though ; ):tea:

Oh my yummy! :)

Duchess, I miss Franklin too. Maybe he had a vampire twin somewhere. He was fabulous in his insanity.

But we do have Russell who's taking crazy to a whole new level. :|

Abigail Crabby 08-26-2010 11:29 AM

I can't wait to have HBO agaaaaaaaaaaain - I miss True Blood sooooo much.

This time around I'll be able to watch it as it plays and not have to DVR it for later ~ ~ Woot

I will miss The Franklin - I loved him as I caught the series when doin the travel thing to NC and back.

Rook 08-26-2010 11:38 AM

~pets my Rolling Stone~

Russell has seasonal tickets, courtside on the insanity bit...

Bill & pussy go hand in hand...
Yaaay Eric...

Franklin's mistake was he underestimated a dingbat twit with a deadly weapon...
Bill also underestimated a twit with valuable information on repelling vamps...
Yaaaay Jason !

Sam is starting to grow on me again, although the whole "emo" shifter thing is a wee bit annoying..
His brother's a helluva horndog...
doggystyle!!
Poor jessica...

And about fuckin time they got into the were panthers + faeries, 2 episodes left !!.

Less than an hour until the next episode (well, if you live in my timezone anyway)

Arwen 08-29-2010 09:55 PM

Hello. There was nearly as much sex in this episode as a MaryAnn orgy. :hangloose:
I still love Russel's crazy. His grief for Talbot is kind of touching--in a mass-murdering psychotic SOB way.

My favourite ever is from 2:13 on:

I fucking LOVE Sophie Anne!

turasultana 08-30-2010 08:35 AM

Did anyone watch the Emmys? Eric (ok Alexander) is so friggin TALL. He towered over everyone in that tux.

And he can't burn all the way...

Next season should hopefully be the book where he loses his memory and well if you read the books you know. If you haven't you should, it's the hottest book if you're an Eric fan. :)

Shower scene please.

As for Sam, damn he's tore up. And Jason - is the book plotline for him going to happen?

pajama 08-30-2010 09:01 AM

I don't have premium channels so I have only watched through the second season. I like reading here too, I don't mind the spoilers. But I love the soundtracks. Thought I would share this with y'all.

Rook 08-30-2010 02:04 PM

http://www.hbo.com/true-blood/about/...e&cmpid=ABC123

-sniffle- I shall miss Godric deh most....
And Franklin the Least ......Maybe Talbot.....maybe...

The captions were from season 2...if memory serves, in season 1, Eric had long hair....
in season 2, short hair after the redneck massacre.. he was a horrible victim of fashion {tracksuits!!}

I missed the Emmy's...

I havent caught yesterdays episode, but, if I recall, Crystal already shapeshifted in front of Jason ....
I'm guessing slowly but surely?

Miss Scarlett 08-30-2010 06:36 PM

Favorite line from last night: "I showed him my best underwear."

Lamest line from last night: "I teach third grade."

betenoire 09-05-2010 04:14 PM

New episode promo!

betenoire 09-05-2010 04:37 PM

My bad, the new episode is NEXT week. Where do they get off skipping a week, anyway?

Rook 09-05-2010 05:34 PM

My guess is Labor Day, so they figure they ought to do a Marathon for those who skipped one episode or another before next week's Season Finale....

squeak 09-09-2010 01:11 PM

How... how will they wrap everything up with a nice neat bow so I don't explode Sunday night with the realization that I will have to wait months and months before a continuation?!

More importantly: how will I live without Pam and her Pam-isms? Her fashion?

I already miss Russell and his jam jar of Talbot.

xosqueak

Jess 09-09-2010 02:45 PM

I hates season finales.. grrrrspitkick...

The only saving grace is that Dexter returns Sept 25th! That will help ease the withdrawal.. a bit... :twitch:

turasultana 09-09-2010 03:17 PM

my rolling stone has been keeping me company.

are they really going to make us wait until next summer for the next season? so unfair. The season finale better be great to hold me. :)

well at least dexter will be back soon.

Jess 09-10-2010 05:35 AM

heh, christie picked up the rolling stone to covet.... personally, I would like to figure out how to remove eric and bill and insert tara and maryann :P but hey, that's jus me

nicetgurl_30 09-10-2010 06:02 AM

AlWays late

Okay for the first time this weekend. I'll be able to watch TruBlood. My ex is gonna let me borrow season 1&2. Ready for some couchtime

Rook 09-11-2010 07:37 AM

season 1 is kind of...meh...but it does get better...MUCH...

I don't watch Dexter much...
I *am* however a 'Big Love', 'U.S. of Tara'{yaay eddie izzard's in new season!!}, Real Time with Bill Maher, and every so often 'Nurse Jackie' Fan..
:mohawk:
All of which are M00t, since they seem to mostly start long after My TrueBlood obsession is cut too short -Grrr-
Season Finale's usually leave u with a "Hook"..
Edge of Seat, then "to be continued" and u fall on your face, and get Widgets to count the days and--~ahem~
It sucks...

Duchess 09-11-2010 11:29 PM

Love this!!
