Shoveling really does hit so many muscle groups, top and bottom.

I am sorry it isn't a "choice" to work out, though. :-(

Yes, it's been such a pain to have all the old snowy slush around. I am so tired of this hard winter.

If by stretching you mean rolling my eyes and squaring my shoulders, yes. I do that.

*grin*

I would benefit better if I wouldn't go home and inhale too much food, but my shoulders are tight and as muscular as they can be considering how small my upper body is. I do feel my abs contract and I know my thighs get some work too, with the up and down up the scooping. So, I definitely feel the workout.

Today I hauled 25-40 lb bags of salt around.

Yay.

Are you saying that snow shovelling counts as exercise??? OMG I've been exercising for weeks, months.

True dat.

All movement with intention is exercise.

It helps if you mutter under your breath, I've learned.

I have been having to be careful with my left knee cause of a stretched mcl that happened a few years ago.For whatever reason the darn thing has been acting up,I did go for a walk with the fur kids so all isn't to bad. Also I have been working with some free weights.

nycfem 02-24-2014 09:02 PM

25 min. Stair Master (Intervals, 45/50) and then 35 min. free weights and stretching

Oh, Mondays...

twenty minutes of pilates and at least sixty minutes of lindy hop (:
Dancing is easy cardio 'cause it's fun, but I really do need more upper body work.

Lindy hop? Awesome and so so fun to watch!

Bonus? FLAT SHOES! Wee!

For those that don't have a clue:

I went to the gym today but didn't work out. I did, however, finally get my transfer sorted out properly. It was supposed to be so easy, but they've had software and online issues with the installation of a new program so my 'fast and easy' transfer officially took me several weeks to do. Mostly in part to me not having any time off during which the, apparently, only person who could do this worked.

But I feel better and this location will make it far more difficult for me to talk myself out of working out in the future.

This lindy hop looks similar to swing dancing.

I got Jillian Michaels 30 day shred....its a progressive 4 week program that combines intervals of cardio...strength training and ab work....
I must say... I do enjoy weight training and feeling stronger after... :)

I just burned a ton of calories watching that uTube!

Today:
6800 steps
Climbed 16 flights of stairs
20 minutes on the recumbent bike

But only 5 hours sleep...

It's a subset of it.

From Wikipedia:

The Lindy Hop is an American dance that evolved in Harlem, New York City in the 1920s and 1930s and originally evolved with the jazz music of that time. Lindy was a fusion of many dances that preceded it or were popular during its development but is mainly based on jazz, tap, breakaway and Charleston. It is frequently described as a jazz dance and is a member of the swing dance family.

YES! Flat shoes are the best part! Well, actually there are lots of things that are the 'best part'... the best best one is that it's impossible to be unhappy while swinging out. And that is one of my favorite clips right now. My teachers help run that event (:

Today, my exercise will involve lifting my kindle off my chest after I doze off a hundred times. I let my blood sugar drop and screwed my system up something fierce. I'm missing a free dance tonight and I just want to mope and kick things pitifully... but I'm too tired.

cinnamongrrl 02-26-2014 03:13 PM

I did yoga this morning..

I'm trying to do it every morning...and sometimes at night...

I've noticed it really works my core, and makes me practice better posture through the day...

I do love me some Jillian though...she makes it hurt in the best way(s) possible!

ProfPacker 02-26-2014 03:44 PM

Got back to gym today, not leisurely because I had to go to work but:
1/2 hour elliptical (recumbent), 1/2 hour machines, 1/2 hour swimming

caffeinelover 02-26-2014 03:56 PM

I guess it is the wrong thread to look at after inhaling 1200 calories of cheese, yes you read correctly.

I walk 4 miles per day, so today I did that. I am also a big fan of Jillian Michaels. I am on week 2 of Ripped in 30.
I have been unfaithful to her though, shhh don't tell, and have done the Tracy Anderson Mat Workout that's been toning me insanely.

It sculpts a very feminine body.

At least cheese has some nutritional value! (:

DapperButch 02-26-2014 05:23 PM

I would love to learn swing. I bet it would be tough for me to get down (no pun intended).

Sweet Bliss 02-27-2014 05:05 PM

As part of my commitment to increasing my health quotient, I joined Planet Fitness today!

Okay, :| , It was because I stared at my reflection in a full length mirror at the mall today.

It was not pretty. Trying to find a baggage holder for the "girls" was mucho horrible. Don't get me started... :pirate-steer:

Yes, I wanted to walk the plank instead.

So, anyhoo, my story is that I joined to take better care of my health... and I'm sticking to it.

I can do this, I think I can, I think I can :firetruck: <... pretend this is a train.

o222Good 02-28-2014 08:38 PM

I got this in my email today:

You earned the Helicopter badge!
You've climbed 500 floors, that's like reaching the altitude of a Helicopter.

Since I started using the FitBit 1 last December I climbed as high as a helicopter.
Okay. This is pretty cool.

ProfPacker 03-01-2014 10:26 PM

I swam for 2 hours today, first time I swam that long. Do you think Diana Dyad should be worried, lol, hahahah
