I found the fossilized tooth of Hyracotherium, as well as several bone fragments, at a friend's house this evening. This was the earliest animal to bear recognizably horse-like anatomy, and it lived in the early Eocene period, about 52 million years ago. I have permission to return with a shovel whenever I like, and this gives me much joy.

What brought me joy today...
After having one hell of a rough night @ the 2nd job last night, actually getting a great night's sleep. Waking up to the gentle sound of light rain on our metal roof. Counting my blessings each and every day. oh & one more big ol' red x on the calendar ~ 23 days until the Reunion! |

Coelicanth
I can understand your joy in this. I read several years ago the book Coelicanth (sp?) about the finding of a genuine Coelicanth, a fish thought to be extinct since prehistoric times. The book was fascinating. I don't wish to own the remains of one, since they are too precious to be shut up in a private collection. I do wish that I had a copy of the book. Hmmm....Ebay and BestBuyBooks here I come! I am sorry about the spelling of the name...it's been awhile and the hour is late. If anyone is interested , please feel free to PM me!

My (adoptive) Mom
What brought me joy and comfort tonight was a long talk with my adoptive Mom. She is a never-ending source of strength and kindness. She is in her 80s, a retired nurse, and a very wise Elder. She is the most valuable and loved person in my life. She is the person with whom I have the most real world contact. She can outrun me in terms of energy. I sometimes privately compare in strength and endurance to an old mountain goat, such comparison meant with only reverence and admiration. I don't know what I'd do without her! Thank you, Mom!

* Last night, I scored a chandelier at Lowe's that was $194 marked down to $12. That made me SQUEEEEE like a crazed person.
* Seeing the light at the end of the tunnel with all of the massive lists of things to do. * A favorite girl of mine coming to visit in a couple of weeks. * Boxes and boxes of stuff that will soon go bye-bye crowding my library. * Finding a GREAT pet resort for Gracie. |

This was yesterday..
But Playing in the pool just like I was 9... Flips and back flips, twists, pretending to be an otter.. getting spun in circles, back rides... I played so hard that I fell asleep around 7 last night and didn't wake up until 7 this morning... I can't remember the last time I played so hard.. |

Hitting the snooze a couple times, just to snuggle against her back. After almost a week of constant rain here, I can finally see the sun peeking through the clouds today! Having a YUMMY boudain kolache for breakfast ~ with a big ol' Diet Coke (you know, to level out the bad & good ;) ) Girls date night at home tonight... bring on the pjs, pizza & box o' wine! Blessings in the simple things in life. Marking another big ol' red X on the calendar ~ 22 days until the Reunion! |

This brings me much joy ...
When I arrived home from work today, I inspected my property and ... *drum roll* ... still no ants.
I woke up this past Sunday morning and there were about half a dozen ants on my counter tops in the kitchen. I located their camp just outside my back door where they were lining up to come inside. Killed all the ones close by with Fantastic cleaning spray. After I had coffee, I went commando on these ants. Put on my camo gear, located my three gallon tank sprayer in the storage room, pulled out a fresh quart of outdoor bug killer. I am talking the concentrated type. Folks, I do not play! Mixed an extra strong concoction, let out a warcry and commenced. *snickering at self* So far so good. I cannot stand bugs inside my house! No ants make me a very happy boy. *grin* |
