Don’t say you don’t have enough time. You have exactly the same number of hours per day that were given to Helen Keller, Pasteur, Michelangelo, Mother Teresa, Leonardo da Vinci, Thomas Jefferson, and Albert Einstein. –Life’s Little Instruction Book

I awaken
I wake In the early hours of dawn.
My body is terribly tried and complains with a yawn. I am covered in the moisture of my own sweat. But I know there will be no sleep for me, not yet. I take up a seat at the window and I think of you, then my eyes wonder to the incredible view. I watch the sunrise just begin to lighten the sky. The picture it so slowly reveals brings tears to my eyes. The dark blue outline of the mountain peaks, seem to hide the many colors I know lay beneath. Then the clouds begin to slowly sneak in. The mountains invite them as if they were old friends. Ever so slowly the clouds caress and kiss the mountain peaks. It is the most beautiful sight I have seen in weeks. I am reminded then of how it will be with you. How the two of us together will be so natural and true. As the clouds lower themselves down and blanket the mountains peaks. The dark harsh blue lines are softened, by the white cotton lace. So softly and gently the two begin to merge. To describe what I feel I have not the words. The two lay together for hours it seems, while the rest of the world continues to dream. You can almost hear them whisper sweet words of love, as the sun continues to rise above. When the clouds lift as if they had wings, You can see the true nature and beauty of things. The dark blue bleakness has been washed away, and bright colors of life are now visible with a promise of a new day. Just as your touch on me will one day awaken something sleeping inside, the clouds have uncovered the mountains hidden surprise. But now that the world is awake with a new day, I must somehow find the strength to put these thoughts away. I take one last look at the wondrous view, And I gather my courage as I think of you. I tell myself we will one day share the same sky, And I wipe the last of the tears from my weeping eyes. |
