'Black Boys on Mopeds' Margaret Thatcher on TV Shocked by the deaths that took place in Beijing It seems strange that she should be offended The same orders are given by her I've said this before now You said I was childish and you'll say it now Remember what I told you: If they hated me they will hate you England's not the mythical land of Madame George and roses It's the home of police who kill black boys on mopeds And I love my boy and that's why I'm leaving I don't want him to be aware that there's Any such thing as grieving Young mother down at Smithfield 5 am, looking for food for her kids In her arms she holds three cold babies And the first word that they learned was "please" These are dangerous days To say what you feel is to dig your own grave Remember what I told you: If you were of the world they would love you England's not the mythical land of Madame George and roses It's the home of police who kill blacks boys on mopeds And I love my boy and that's why I'm leaving I don't want him to be aware that there's Any such thing as grieving. |

Social D. I'm a big fan.
I hate to deviate from the angel theme, but keeping with the spirit of the thread, that song truly did remind me of this one:
|
I do not know much about the band Social Distortion, but I like the concept that anchors their band's name. I was gonna say that the song that came to mind, after hearing the song 'Born To Lose', was Elvis Presley singing the song that Mac Davis wrote, 'In the Ghetto'
(I am a huge fan of both Elvis Presley & Mac Davis) |
|
macy gray's distinctive singing voice makes me think of this quirky sounding singer
|
I found myself captivated by the lilt of Joanna Newsome's voice and the strings of the harp:
I like music that feels playful and inviting and causes me to see things differently, much like the song below that came to mind by Katie Melua ... (If You Were A Sailboat) |

The title "If My Heart Was A House" reminds me of one of my favorite EBTG tracks "My Head Is My Only House Unless It Rains" (a cover of the Captain Beefheart original)
"I'll let a train be my feet if it's too far to walk to you And if a train don't go there I'll get a jet or a bus 'Cuz I'm gonna find you You're gonna see my shadow soon around you And my head is my only house unless it rains" |
