I got a good start to my 4th even though the gym was miserable. Hot and muggy inside a gym is not a good feeling.

Or smell.

:passinggas:

I persevered!

E21, random program, level 5
Stats: 273 cal, 2.24 mi, 30:00 min

I moved on to lower body weight training with a small side of abs and then some stretching.

It'd been several days since my last official workout and I needed it. My hips were getting tight again. I've got to push my laziness aside at night and keep doing my PT exercises even if I don't "work out" that day. Those suckers work!

I'm good to go now.

day 1 done!

i can see right now it will be difficult to do yoga with mr mighty mouse around, at the end of day one she challenged me to do absolutely nothing for a moment...i had to put him out of the room for 5 minutes as he was all over me the whole time!

nycfem 07-04-2015 03:16 PM

90 minute walk in the park, actually I was there for almost 3 hours but much time was spent doing other things like taking photos and having the obligatory red white and blue popsicle…

Exercise and yoga isn't designed to keep you from getting stressed. Stress happens. Regular exercise helps you deal with the stressors better.

Gemme 07-05-2015 05:12 PM

This morning, I hopped onto the recumbent bike for 20 minutes.
Stats: 114 cal, 4.10 mi

I moved on to upper body training and I think I've learned something about myself. I must have a very intense or 'don't fuck with me' look on my face when I do my circuit training because I was working through the circuit and had just finished one machine, put the paper towel down with my stuff and turned to hop onto the next machine in line when a lady walked in from the main area and aimed for that same machine.

I looked at her. Didn't say a word. We both stopped.

She said, "Oh, okay." and moved to another machine.

I've had giant muscle heads backtrack from doing the same thing.

I must be a badass when I'm hot, sweaty and breathing hard.

I finished up with light ab work and stretching. I was alone in the stretching area, which was Heaven. Lately, the loud mouth breather has been in there and I just want to smash my foot in his face when he goes, "Whoosh! Whoooooosh! Whoooooooooosh!" followed by "Ugh! Ugh! UGH!"

This isn't your yoga class, dude. Weird sounds are NOT recommended or appreciated.

*annoyed*

nycfem 07-05-2015 05:28 PM

I took an hour and a half walk in Central Park with a friend. It was longer, but there were various stops and starts.

Kelt 07-05-2015 05:47 PM

Hour biking on the trails :)
Hour brisk walk on the trails :)
Hour on the recumbent in the gym

Okay, that last bit was me trying to find somewhere showing Tour De France coverage.
No luck :(

but my stress was a dog licking my ear while i try to do yoga, and the computer dying 5 minutes before the workout was over...ugh!

*clasps hands together and closes eyes...i am calm :praying:

Something may be off on my calorie counter on both my rower and recumbent bike, I rowed for 15 minutes but used only 58 calories, then on the recumbent bike I rode for 19 minutes and only burned up 70 calories going 8.9 mph for just a bit over three miles. Ya'll that was a lot od sweating for so few calories one thing for sure my legs gotta burn going but my bad knee hasn't hurt yet.

Okay.

That made me laugh.

Next time, plug your laptop in before your video plays and put the pup outside or in another room and shut the door to the room you are using.

Or

Roll with it. Use the opportunity to work your abs some more as you giggle and laugh and then use your imagination or just repeat what the last video ended with.

These are totally fixable things. Trying to make my customers with dementia remember to come in and pay? Now that's leaning towards not feasible or at least time intensive.

You can do this!

randrum 07-06-2015 07:20 PM

I ran a mile today before logging 1800 yards in the pool.

I need to start running more. I have a race on July 25th and another the end of August. The first is a 5k, and the other is 3 nautical miles at the local naval station.

Walking and a ton of it today. Back is sore tonight.

Rockinonahigh 07-08-2015 12:24 AM

I had some things to do today that had me out for most of the day, I did a lot of walking and driving with out a. c. (yep its out again) the hot weather was/is an ass kicker, from now on till cooler weather I 'm becoming a vampire and not going out till after dark.

Gemme 07-08-2015 08:10 AM

I had an early morning appointment to get my car inspected so I hit the gym a little after 6am today but it was already miserable inside.

Bah.

This is how it played out:

E21, random program, level 5
Stats: 183 cal, 1.58 mi, 20:00 min

Lower body training using a 3/12 (3 sets of 12 reps each) formula at max known weight. I was even able to up my weight on the seated leg curl, ab crunch and abb/adduction machines but I lowered the weight on the back machine and gave myself a few more reps. 75 lbs felt like too much of a strain and I don't mess with my back so it's back (HA!) to 65 lbs for now.

I ended with about 8-9 minutes of stretching.

i really needed this today...i feel better already :praying:

nycfem 07-09-2015 07:06 PM

I went to the gym today. It was hard to get myself to go, as it is whenever I am not in a pattern of going. I did 35 minutes on the stairmaster. A man near me farted. I'm pretty sure it was him. There was a slight chance it was a passerby crop dusting. I said out loud without looking, "That was some fart." After my stepping, I did 25 minutes of yoga. Wow, I'm really starting at zero since I've been out of the gym so long (had to go down in all my activities). Yet, still, a great work out!

Rockinonahigh 07-09-2015 07:52 PM

30 minutes on the bike, 30 minutes on the rower when I got done I was dripping wet from sweating. Other than feeling like a limp noodle i'm doing good.

Look on the bright side; now you can get a great workout in half the time. :cheesy:

Here to find the silver lining!

~SweetCheeks~ 07-09-2015 09:51 PM

Back has been spasming for a couple months off and on. Dr gave me some stretches and light exercises. Today, I got on a bicycle for the first time in over 10 years and I was actually able to ride. Also went to a 3 hour appointment to find out I have lost 35lbs in 2 months. I am so happy I am back on the path to a healthy me.

cricket26 07-11-2015 09:19 AM

day 7 done!

i took a break yesterday to drive to teddys...getting back today was rough it was a 30 minute one and i needed alot of breaks...sheesh...the puppy was good until the end and he had to be placed on my belly for the cool down :praying:

Gemme 07-11-2015 04:44 PM

On the 9th, I hit the gym and took on the Matrix (stair master-ish). I used the manual program and got 4 bumps up on the speed before it got a bit skeery. The steps are more angled and more difficult to navigate than old school stair master steps so it was a real work out even if it wasn't lengthy.

Stats: 93 cal, 603 steps, 15:30 min

I followed that with my upper body workout and then worked the ole abs and stretched.

Rockinonahigh 07-11-2015 06:25 PM

The last couple of days I have done upper body work, my knees and legs needed a rest, tomorrow back to the bike and rower. I can see some changes from using the rower and bike but have gained three pounds, I just hope its fat turning into muscle cause I have really been watching my diet to keep out un needed carbs, corse it could be hope water melon someone gave me it's huge and I have given a lot of it away to keep it from going to waste but still have plenty in the fridge. I have nearly quit drinking sodas of any kind and gone to crystal lite, unsweet tea, V8 or V8 splash of some kind...yes water too.

nycfem 07-11-2015 08:42 PM

2 hour walk in the park, loving the summer

Gemme 07-12-2015 08:04 AM

Good morning, exercisers!

The past few days have been hard on my body. I stayed up very late one night and was shorted on sleep that and another night and there's the usual stress from upper management that just makes my tush pucker. I wanted to be more kind to my body today but I absolutely have to take advantage of days (almost) off so I agreed to do a little bit of mild cardio and only do 2 sets but at high weights. I thought that was a nice compromise and it seems to have worked.

I did half an hour on the recumbent bike.
Stats: 168 cal, 5.95 mi, 30:00 min

It was a lower body workout today. I did the max weights for each machine and even bumped a couple of them up a smidge. I'm at 50 lbs of resistance on the abdominal crunch machine now, so that is a step in the right direction.

I noticed this during my last workout but failed to mention it in here at that time....I'm getting stronger! That's the goal, of course along with better health, but when you are plugging along it doesn't always sink in that this. is. working. But last workout and this one too; I noticed just how much I've improved from where I started and what my initial max weight was and what it is now. It definitely made me happy and put a big smile on my face when the realization kicked in.

Today's acknowledgement not only brought a smile to my face but put some pep in my step. It's about that time again--for those who don't like menses talk, skip the rest of this paragraph--and I tend to either feel really drained and blah or, like now, really invigorated and powerful and that feeling of personal power makes me feel sexy too. It's a win win on the good months and something to look forward to the rest of the time.

I hope everyone has a marvelous day and, if not, work it out!

:weightlifter:

nycfem 07-12-2015 06:17 PM

3 hour walk in the park but counting it as two because I was with a baby and his parents so that slows things down considerably. Had a great time!

Gemme 07-12-2015 06:20 PM

I got some more time in walking a large art festival. Granted, it wasn't more than a stroll since the crowds were thick but I did it and it lasted almost 3 hours so it counts, right nyc?

ksrainbow 07-12-2015 07:57 PM

shift work...

Being that I am a EVS at the local hospital: which requires constant movement for both upper and lower extremities. From the fine motor skills to the overall strength to lift/bend.

My past has been one of a professional *desk-jockey* to a current physical laborer: I am finding muscles and tendons that have been lazy! So for 8 hours of constant movement in all respects: I am now searching for comfy shoes to help the Achilles tendons.

So yes...my physical work/out is exercise that I am learning to adjust too as well as shifting my overall work abilities! Oh how I love the elevators :) !

why is it getting harder instead of easier....:praying:

nycfem 07-14-2015 06:28 PM

Yesterday and today: 30 minutes on the Stairmaster. Been feeling sluggish lately, but at least got to the gym!

Rockinonahigh 07-14-2015 06:30 PM

Three miles on the rower and three miles on the bike, tired / sore isn't even the right words.

Gemme 07-15-2015 10:29 AM

I had a good one today, exercisers!

I started on the elliptical but got stuck in the middle where it's the hottest so it was a short stint.

E17, random program, level 5
Stats: 165 cal, 1.42 mi, 18:00 min

It was upper body day and I actually ate enough peanut butter with my banana to carry me through the whole workout. I didn't get shaky at the end, so that was nice.

I did 2 sets of 12 through the circuit room machines and the outside machines as well. Max or near max weights on each one. For the most part, my form was good too so that's helpful.

Not a bad way to start the day!

cricket26 07-15-2015 06:04 PM

day 10 done!

a short one today and it was nice cause i have things to do....:praying:

Rockinonahigh 07-15-2015 09:36 PM

Day three of rowing then biking for three miles each, my right leg feels fine but my left feels like the pain goes as far as the top of my tail bone in one long pull with pain and being tight. My left knee is ok to ride or row with but walking it doesn't do to good, I will be glad when the 28th gets hear so they can re do the supratz injections, instead of doing three shots we going to do the full total of five so hopefully it will make it for 6 months instead of going out with five weeks to go like I'm doing now. Tomorrow I will do a few other exercises to give my knee and leg a bit of rest. I am doing stretching before and after I workout.

AlchemyGrrl 07-15-2015 10:28 PM

Hi!

Hi! I worked out for an hour today. Water aerobics. The tummy crunches really got to me...I loved being in the water though. I have been doing this water aerobics class 3 days a week for most of the last year. I am feeling so successful I have decided to add 2 more hours a week of a hybrid pilates/yoga class. Thanks for being here. What a great topic
