Im just trying to get my bills paid off plus what i owe WT.I pay her what i can and she keeps a tab for me. Doesn't make me feel good until i can pull my weight.
But I'm trying to get her to go to Texas City on the jetty, as long as she is covered up(she burns)

Every time I say I want to go fishing, the weather gets bad....

.....thinking I should just be silent and let it happen when it happens :fishingboot:

Awww Wolfyone, I don't think it's you. I just think that spring brings rapid weather changes. Hang in there, warmer nicer weather is coming!!!!

I was all set to go. Then threw my back out. Now i have to wait.

wolfy the best fishing IMO is in the rain or just after a big rain. I have been known to fish in my kayak in the rain but dont do this is its lightening! lol

I started fly fishing early last year, but wouldn't say I'm good at it. I want to learn more. I like fly fishing from my kayak too.

I'm not sure how flying fishing from a kayak would be since you need that full body action. In my kayak tho I can pretty much drop my line wherever I want it.

There was a resort not far from me that offers lessons but the whole course was really expensive. I think a nice group, a few coolers and tents then someone willing to teach us.

I would definitely be up for something like that! If we could get an idea of who is seriously interested and general locations of everyone, we could organize it and pick a centrally located spot.

Our season opens here on Thursday the 1st of April, people are already started arriving and setting up camps. I will be there with a rod in the water. *grins*

Im interested but need to plan. I was actually thinking of going up around the finger lakes, upstate NY, which isnt close but I have been wanting to fish there a long time. I use to live in the Adirondacks, in a village by lake george. There were amazing streams and plenty of trout but no one to show me. Now I did catch a big ass lake trout as long as my forearm but thats not the same.

In the southern tier of NY there are tons of waterfalls, streams, camping, you name it. To be honest if it was so cold so long I,d move backl to NYS in a heartbeat,

Sachita.. if you ever want to come this way and fish, just let Me know. This area is well known for it's rainbow trout and our season opens April 1st. The whole area where I live is known for it's fishing.. and we have people that come from Canada, and gosh a whole lot of states around us. If you decide to venture this way.. I can send you some links.. and also host you.. and show you around if you would like.

I would really love that. My birthday is the first part of May. I would love to camp up that way and fish. Just send them to me in email and I'll plan. Need to make sure my critters are cared for. Maybe there are a few people up that way that want to get together for some fishing?

So you know how to fly fish? omg what an invitation!

But seriously, I so miss that area. It would be great to go up. As I was saying in chat, I went up last oct to finger lakes for the wine festivals but could only stay a few days. The water was just too damn cold. I love waltkins glen but I cant say NY has my favorite wines. The vineyards all along Seneca lake were amazing.

Yeah and we were talking about a camping area called Buttermilk Falls outside Ithaca... very very nice and Ithaca has amazing gorges, waterfalls and some nice pubs too! :)

I will definately send you some information via email. Nods I do know how to fly fish.. I learned when I was out West as I was saying earlier. Took alot of practice to get it down.. but worth it for the peacefulness you get from it alone.. let alone if you catch any fish. *laughs*.

nods.. that would be great if we could get a bunch of us from this area to go.. we could do a camping/fishing get together or something like that.

Sounds like a great plan to Me.

Anyone else in the Upstate NY area or close by that would like to join in on this for the beginning of May?

Sachita 03-29-2010 05:12 PM

Until I moved to Oklahoma, I never heard of it. Mindy's son used to do it with a friend of his. Personally, I like my fingers, hands and arms and won't poke around where I can't see something.

Used to work with a Doctor that did it all the time! He caught some that weighed as much as 40 lbs.

I've seen pics of bigger ones....so big that they'd carry people down a ways from where they started.

Good thing the doc could fix himself up if need be.
