call me old fashioned....
I miss being acknowledged when I am checking out with my purchases.
I miss people being polite while walking or driving. I miss having only a couple/few choices when deciding what to buy. I miss meeting women in person first....then talking on the phone or otherwise. |
.......you

I miss.... spending Sundays with my dad...getting up early for mass, then going for a drive in the country...listening to his old time rock n roll....telling me stories about when he was a kid.... good times :)

I miss going out to lunch with my BFF... I miss her face and the way she laughs and leaving for the craziness of our lives after our lunch with a smile knowing everything was going to be fine as long as we had these moments...

...fall in New England. I liked a page on facebook called "VisitNH - New Hampshire" and locals have been posting pictures of the fall foliage on there. It made me cry.
I grew up in Sterling, Massachusetts, a little town north of Worcester. My grandparents had a huge oak tree in front of their house (it's still there) and the amount of leaves it would drop seemed endless. Fall as a kid meant jumping in the leaves my siblings and I spent all day raking up just for a few minutes of fun. Then grandpa would eventually burn them. There is no smell like jumping in the leaves and the neighborhood all burning their leaves. When I smell ylang-ylang it takes me to that head-space for a second. Fall in Tennessee isn't the same. |
I miss my best friend, too.

Sane conversations with my BFF.
Pajama days with the love of my life. Family dinners at Mom's house. Ren Fair, DragonCon, comic books, movies and sci-fi favorites. Long, wine-tinted conversations about love, life and the universe. Feeling at home in my own skin. |
Sitting by the fireplace watching the CMA awards on TV and eating as many s'mores as I could...the only time were allowed to stay up past 10pm on a school night...lol
The simple pleasures of life :) |

Another birthday..............
I am missing my mother today as well. Even though I turned 59, my mother used to make my birthday a very special day. She had a very hard life, but always made my birthday a day to remember. I have shed more than a few tears this year. It isn't quite 2 yrs since she passed away, but it seems like she has been gone a very long time.
