Actually we still have the scaled down version of dinosaurs. They are called alligators.

I loved that Beef Stoganoff too. Upsetting it is no longer available. I think we need to have a "Bring it Back" demonstration!!!

Also those great tops that the kid merely pressed down in the
middle, and the top responded by whirling round and round
depending on the kid's whim.

puddin' 02-27-2018 03:37 AM

oh word. i did as well.

did you all ever had what we called a “slang book” ? This was in the middle school years.

It was a spiral notebook, and each page had a question at the top... and you answered the question (Do you like Joan Jett, who do you have a crush on?) for example. They had sections and most were yes or no questions.

You signed your name in the front and were assigned a number, then did you answer and your number underneath.

Like this

YES
16

They were fun and how we got to know each other. The slang book was passed around from person to person. We got fun pens and things to decorate our slang books.

It was easy to get away with playing in them while in class!

These books were MUCH the threads here, only they did create drama sometimes (SO Unlike the threads here, Haha)

The things we did before the internet.

I miss "Customer Service".

Miss 411 Information. Getting an operator who would move heaven and Earth to find a phone number for you, and on the off chance they didn't have it, transferred you to a supervisor who would FOUND it.

Anyone remember Cootie Catchers? and cootie shots??

Necco wafers. I know they still exist but my good lord they are hard to find and expensive, they might as well be extinct.

I miss sit-down dinners with small groups of people I tend to hang out with (close friends & family).

It has been so different this past year, with the pandemic and social distancing and for myself and my circle of family friends here at home, we've not gotten together much this past year. We have canceled sit-down dinner plans for the rest of this year and probably into next year. Maybe by next summer or fall, we will get together and have an awesome sit-down dinner. That will be so special and make up for all the times we can't get together, due to the seriousness of the pandemic.
