Today, regardless of your stance on this or that war/conflict/battle or reigning political party....I hope you give pause amongst the bustle of cookouts/store sales/concerts and art festivals to remember those who sacrificed everything so you can enjoy the life and freedoms you have. A special thanks to gays in the military who served and died while being told/forced to hide who they were and who they loved because their desire to protect the common good outweighed any one individual's needs. I don't want to take away from today by discussing politics, the military, and gay rights so I will simply say to all those who paid the ultimate sacrifice, and to the families and loved ones they left behind,

I wanted a perfect ending. Now I've learned, the hard way, that some poems don't rhyme, and some stories don't have a clear beginning, middle, and end.
