Oh wow how to narrow it down to three people ... Nomad, for sharp honest observations with twist of wistfulness; Anya for calm reasonableness; Dee for right-on-the-money unsentimentality; Okie and Bulldog for "stop-the-madness,""to-the-point"-ness—sorry I went over the limit.

Worse Christmas memory; I was very young, it was Christmas Eve. My dad said he was going for a carton of cigarettes. Didn't see him for over 3 months. Unfortunately, I still have a hard time with the holiday season because of that.

Ok, that was the worse. Someone liven it up with the best. Please.

Kindest thing a stranger has ever done for you?

Once when I had just had Sophia and Sienna was about 4, we went to the Olive Garden for dinner. It was a BIG treat since we were on such a tight budget, but it was Sienna's very favorite place to go (um, endless breadsticks and salad!!). They had just switched over to a "no personal check" policy and I was not aware of this before we ate.

So there I am with a toddler and an infant, no credit or debit cards (not sure why) and management is glaring at me because I can't pay.

So this wonderful couple sitting next to us came over and asked if there was a problem and the manager informed them that I was attempting to take advantage of their recently implemented no check writing policy.

The stranger at the table next to me then ripped into this manager, saying that both he and his wife had been watching my little family while we all ate our meals, and that they couldn't get over what a kind and loving mom I was. He then paid for our meal and gave me a big hug and told me to ignore the manager, find out if restaurants take personal checks in the future, ;) and to pay it forward.

I was so touched. And pay it forward I do!

I don't think I could eat a quail.

They have little beanies on their heads and they are the best parents.

Could you give up physical touch or acknowledgment from all other forms of life for a year without going insane?
