I walked twice this week. Clocked in 5 flights of stairs on the Fitbit on each walk.

Got some Ryka walking shoes that are better than the ones I bought the week before.

easygoingfemme 07-02-2016 07:22 AM

Mowed the lawn. That'll do.

Gemme 07-03-2016 07:50 AM

I had hella good workout this morning, exercisers. It was a struggle, because I've only been doing cardio as a warm up for the strength training for a while, but I made it through and that's the important part. Kicking ass and taking names along the way is just icing on the proverbial cake.

I went to gym #2 and worked on the Life Fitness elliptical using the random program and at level 3. They finally got smart and had some of the lights turned off. Those lights put out a LOT of heat and with the natural light coming in through the wall of glass in the front and strategic placement of the lighting that was on, it was...by far...the most enjoyable and cool workout I've had at that location. I think that had a lot to do with the quality of my workout too.

Stats: 322 cal, 2.73 mi, 35:00 min

This was followed up by a good 10 minutes of stretching. I was loosey goosey in the joints when I left, but in a good way.

Gemme 07-04-2016 08:03 AM

My trainer didn't have enough people to come in for today (needs at least 3 and I think I was the only one wanting a session this morning), so I went to the other gym and did my own circuit and strength training. It was a good workout!

Life Fitness treadmill, random program, level 5
Stats: 34 cal, .37 mi, 8:00 min

45 minutes of circuit and strength training

12 minutes of stretching

Gayandgray 07-05-2016 09:59 AM

No time for an actual exercise workout, but working at the kennel and cutting grass in this heat is helping me lose weight!!!! Woo Hoo!!! I'm finally under 200lbs!! :hangloose::hangloose: AND, I'm still eating pretty much whatever I want, just less.

Gemme 07-07-2016 09:35 AM

Another good workout today. After the last workout and moving a ton of tubs and bins around, I was sore for a couple of days. It's nice to feel the work but not be so tore up that you can't cough without sharp pain. That's not fun.

Warm up: Life Fitness elliptical, random program, level 5
Stats: 38 cal, .33 mi, 4:00 min

Body: 45-50 minutes of strength training. I did the same routine as last time but switched up the order that some of the machines were used and I pushed myself with higher weights on some of them.

Cool down: 10 minutes of stretching

Gayandgray 07-07-2016 11:50 AM

Today I scrubbed dog runs for 2 1/2 hours, and cut half of my lawn . As soon as I finish getting the oil changed in my car, I'm going home to cut the other half.:hangloose::hangloose::hangloose:

Gemme 07-09-2016 07:15 AM

I got in a quick cardio workout this morning.

Precor EFX576i elliptical, total body program
Stats: 272.3 cal, 2.21 mi, 30:00 min

I know the statistics for these machines is off by up to 40% but I busted my hump today and feel I earned every one of those calories burned.

:weightlifter:

Orema 07-09-2016 07:19 AM

I had a short week at work. Went on three walks and clocked 4 flights of steps in each walk.

Add 3 hours of slow to moderate walking onto this. I went to an art festival.

easygoingfemme 07-09-2016 02:35 PM

I changed my clothes about 75 times. That was a workout.

Gemme 07-10-2016 08:06 AM

Excellent workout this morning, exercisers. I'm not sure if it was a longer workout because I just did more or if it was just that I was moving slower but it wound up being about an hour of strength training plus warm up and cool down.

Warm up: Life Fitness elliptical, random program, level 5
Stats: 65 cal, .52 mi, 7:00 min

Strength training, total body

Cool down: stretched for about 15 minutes

I made it to failure on a couple of machines too.

Gemme 07-12-2016 08:43 AM

Me again!

I had a good workout this morning, although I did manage to aggravate a muscle in my left shoulder/upper back area. It's not major but it's a constant twinge, so I'll play nice with it this week.

I already planned to go light on the upper body today anyway so that worked out. I emphasized the lower body and either increased the weight or did extra sets at my last weight.

Warm up: Life Fitness elliptical, random program, level 5
Stats: 81 cal, .60 mi, 9:00 min

45 minutes of strength training, including additional work/emphasis on the lower body and core

Cool down: 15 minutes of stretching as usual plus about 5 minutes on the TrueStretch contraption the gym has. It helped me to stretch my shoulder and neck area better than I could have using my body alone.

easygoingfemme 07-12-2016 10:20 AM

I'm trying to decide what to do today. Last night I did a short run then bike workout. Not sure if I should do that again or get on the rowing machine... still healing from some surgery that sort of dictates staying off the rower for a little longer but I don't want to... it's my favorite.

randrum 07-12-2016 05:26 PM

Walked 2 miles while playing Pokemon GO and walking my dog.

candy_coated_bitch 07-12-2016 05:35 PM

I did my first strengthening exercises given to me by my physical therapist. Pelvic tilts and hip raises.

That's part of my stretching routine. It helps keep the sciatic monster under control. Tilts and bridges are fun compared to some of the other stuff my PT gave me. Hopefully, yours will be nicer to you.

When another patient completely unbeknownst to me walks by and says, "Hey, doc, you're hurting her!" you know it's true.

easygoingfemme 07-12-2016 06:03 PM

Wound up with a run and a bike ride- extended by that magic moment when you think you're done but then a really good song comes on so you ride a little longer...

LOQUI 07-12-2016 06:14 PM

30 minutes with the trainer , and only God knows the technical names of what we did ( I have my own version in Spanish of the names but those aren't technical names!) This was followed by a 40 minute walk - I usually try do a one hour walk, but I was tired !! -

What?! Im old, you know?!....and I'm a whiny baby as well!! lol :sunglass:

Gemme 07-13-2016 09:24 AM

Happy hump day, exercisers.

I had a quick cardio workout this morning. The soreness in my shoulder dissipated overnight but I still didn't want to overwork my muscles before I have time to really develop them.

Life Fitness treadmill, random program, level 4
Stats: 209 cal, 1.80 mi, 35:00 min

For the most part, I stayed at 3.0 mph while the incline changed throughout the whole workout. The only deviations were when the incline dropped to zero and I ran those intervals at 5.0 mph and my warm up and cool down. There were 2 1.5 minute intervals and one 1 minute interval that was run.

I got the treadmill in the dark and under the big fan that was on high. Oh buddy, I was a happy girl.

clay 07-13-2016 01:07 PM

Joined a women only gym last Thursday...brand new to my area...& had a Personal Trainer for an hour.

With my "limitations" I am using one machine to do pull up & sits, to tone leg muscles & shoulders.

I use a green band for my resistance program!

I do the rest in a chair (limited standing abilities:)...) BUT I am making progress. I use a length of PVC pipe to "warm up" with over head arm stretches.

Saturday I did 45 min in pool of water exercises, then just played about another hour.

Today I went back to gym (as I had to wait until cleared by neurosurgeon for my neck issues) & did another hour of same regimen above.

Next month I will have trainer add in elliptical to see how I manage that!

I have lost my required 2 lbs for the last week. I am stoked!!!

Orema 07-16-2016 07:50 AM

Walked 2 times this week and clocked in a total of 6 flights on the FitBit.

clay 07-16-2016 03:35 PM

Went to gym early this AM. (my honey is off on weekends, so she could be with Heidi while I went)

I did 45 min. of exercises, and they have a Sauna. So guess what, I did 20 min. in it. It is a dry sauna....what an incredible experience....I LOVED it! I didn't know about the sauna prior to today's visit!!!

They also have a pool BUT I do NOT do public pools. I will use my own, thank you very much!!!!

I have been drinking lots of cool water today...imagine that!!

femmeandstrong 07-16-2016 04:55 PM

walked 8 mi today...does it count?... lol

Gemme 07-17-2016 09:51 AM

Good morning, exercisers!

I hit up the Life Fitness elliptical, random program, level 3 this morning.
Stats: 87 cal, .63 mi, 10:00 min

Then I did about 45 minutes of strength training and then stretched for about 15 minutes.

Good workout.

Blade 07-17-2016 10:31 AM

Now that my rehab is coming along nicely, they told me I could go to the gym. So last week I started working out. I begin by riding the recumbent bike for 10 minutes which is a little over a mile, to loosen up my legs. Then I get on the weight machines for upper body, back and legs. First day last week I was like I really do feel better after having worked out. Not doing heavy weights just doing 3 reps of 10 at a weight that makes the last 3 lifts in a set a little hard to do.

I stopped by Mom's and told her how good it made me feel. She said well maybe it would make me feel better to. I never thought she would go more than once, but she has gone with me 4 days in a row and even called me at 7 to make sure I was up..Chuckles...the first day she didn't want to go until 10:30. Iz like Good Lort Mom half the day is gone then. So today she told me she needed a reason to get up and get going and she though going to the gym was a. good motivator. WooHoo go Mom.

Yesterday I discovered the hydro massage bed OMG

cinnamongrrl 07-17-2016 12:12 PM

I have a hard time calling hiking exercise...it's just so fun...

But yesterday we did some epic hiking at Linville Falls. I had been wanting to go there for years...it's gorgeous! (That's an inside joke...Linville Falls is located within Linville Gorge...I'm hilarious)

I've also been doing yoga more. As much for my mental health as my physical. I like how it centers me and prepares me for my day. It just WORKS

I need to do more upper body work to balance the hiking. I need more core too...I've gotta peruse youtube. That's where I found the "yoga. Camp"

anotherbutch 07-17-2016 12:49 PM

I'm really into fitness...... fitness this sammich in my mouth.... lol.... I couldn't resist. :farmer:

I did ride my bike for about an hour today. It's just too incredibly hot n humid to last any longer.

Gemme 07-19-2016 06:22 PM

Good workout this morning.

Warm up: Life Fitness elliptical, random program, level 4
Stats: 80 cal, .59 mi, 9:00 min

Body: about 45 minutes of strength training....instead of doing multiple sets of 12, yada yada yada...I did one set of 15 but made sure it was at a weight that would prove challenging. I was able to have enough juice to use just about all of the machines at least once doing it this way and it's nice to change things up a little.

Cool down: 10 minutes on the TrueStretch contraption and about 10 minutes on the mat stretching

Gemme 07-20-2016 06:38 AM

No official workout for me today, although I will be moving furniture and boxes around and trying a bunch of clothes on so there will be a contortion element to my day today.

I started a new job in May and during the transition I had not been exercising much and not going to the gym at all. I have this summer off due to the school calendar and so I've been going on walks. Today I finally went back to the gym. I did the stairmaster for half an hour. Stats: 226 cal , level 2 & 3 , 62 floors, 2.1 floors per min, 481 ft. It felt good to go back to the gym. I'm glad I got over the hump of actually going back.

candy_coated_bitch 07-22-2016 06:53 PM

River swimming!

nycfem 07-23-2016 08:03 PM

30 minutes on the stairmaster today: 236 cal., Level 2&3, 65 floors, 2.1 floors per minute, 481 feet

Two days back at the gym and I have yet to see Jill. I won't really feel like I'm back at the gym until I see her.

TL1 07-23-2016 08:05 PM

I played soccer.

I get this! I see my gym 'buddy' on the weekends as I don't often go at 5am during the week any more. I saw her today and we chatted a bit. It is part of the gym 'experience' and doesn't seem to be complete with a sighting.

In other, wish I didn't see news, I saw a former customer of ours. He's an obnoxious, chauvinistic, misogynist, peckerhead of a meathead guy. Sometimes my skin crawls around him and he was there and he noticed me. Twice. Got my name wrong the first time, which was fine with me, but decided to come into the circuit training area and comment on my form. It was relatively neutral but I just don't want to be around him, talk to him, see or smell him ever again. I may be allergic to him.

I had a long workout as it's been a few days since my last gym venture.

Life Fitness elliptical, random program, level 4
Stats: 70 cal, .50 mi, 8:00 min

Good, steady warm up followed by a long strength training session. I did 3 sets of 12 reps and higher to highest weights that I could handle and still maintain some semblance of form. It was about an hour and a half or so.

Cool down was about 10 minutes on the mat and another 5-6 on the TrueStretch thingy. I'm finding that it's really good for my shoulders and arms. I can never seem to fully stretch out my triceps and shoulders otherwise.

I have cleaning ahead of me today as well. I'd say maybe 1.5-2 hours worth.

nycfem 07-24-2016 03:43 PM

30 minutes on the stairmaster.

Gemme, I hear you on others' commentary. I was doing balance poses, and this woman came up to me and said, "I'm a yoga teacher and I've been watching you." Then blah, blah, blah. To me, it interrupts my sacred space, if that doesn't sound too new agey :). I am pleasant in these situations but I want to swat them away like a fly.

I actually don't mind commentaries, but I haven't had any that were mean or really distracting. Mostly, it leads to a little bit of chit chat and that's it. It's the guy. I can't stand him. He created trouble for me, my coworker and my former boss multiple times. He's a bad apple. I wish he'd fall off the face of the Earth. Or something.

:|

Although I must say, if someone came up to me and said, "I've been watching you", that could go a lot of ways from creepy to infomercially.

That would soooo bother me. Not sure I'd have been pleasant. Probably fueled by the pre-existing fact that yoga gives me rage.

I'm about to go for a run.

I'm still on some upper body exercise restrictions but did some small hand weights/arm workout this morning and just had a good 30 minute run :)
