Nick's & Jacknife

Nick's Famous Coney Island sports bar:

http://nicksfamousconeys.com/

☆☆☆☆☆ Best place to get a hot dog, sports memorabilia is mounted all over the interior of the sports bar. It's located in the Hawthorne district, which makes it all the more enjoyable. Lots to see and do, especially if you are a people watcher kind of person. Service is top notch. Menu prices are reasonable. Bonus: lots of local people like dining at this sports bar and you're most likely to meet some very interesting people! :)

Jacknife Hotel Bar:

http://www.jackknifepdx.com/

☆☆☆☆☆ Located in downtown Portland. If you find yourself stranded by gridlock traffic conditions, this place is homey for an upscale type of venue. Reasonably priced menu. Service, for the most part, is okay. Live DJ Tues-Friday. Bonus: You can find editions of newspapers not readily available at other similar venue businesses. They also have card decks and TV and its location makes it easy to board an light rail train to the airport or to take the Union Pacific train to locations north or south of Portland.

If you're going to be in Seattle, take the Seattle Water Taxi from Pier 50 over to West Seattle's Alki Beach!

After you arrive either walk down Alki and explore the many great eating places or take a free shuttle up to the quaint city of West Seattle.

The cost of the Water Taxi is a real bargain at around 3 bucks and it's a great way to avoid driving and the hassle of finding parking!

The also used to offer tours at the Milwaukee plant. Not positive if they still do or not, but if so I highly recommend it.

That's an awesome deal, homoe! $3 for the water taxi, almost unheard of, such a good price! U2 just put on an 30th anniversary concert at Century Link Stadium....sold out performance. So I imagine that traffic and parking issues for fans was at an all time high, the other day, *lol* :)

Thanks for the great tip about the water taxi!

If you're visiting Seattle don't forget to check out the University District.

If you're in Seattle on June 29th stop by Seattle's Public Market and help celebrate the opening of the much anticipated Market Front expansion from 1 to 7 p.m. There will be an afternoon ceremony which includes Mayor Ed Murray, performances by local musicians, bites from Market Front vendors and activities to help visitors explore the new space.

That looks like a great tourist type of activity....I won't be able to go, but definitely will check it out next time I'm up there, visiting friends in the area! :)

Ps/ this is located down near Elliot bay? Or is it located over by the Space Needle?

homoe 05-16-2017 08:54 AM

Actually it's the same as Pike Place Market right on 1st Ave downtown Seattle.

They have been working on an expansion of the rear that leads down to the waterfront and FINALLY have it completed!

If you're in Seattle and enjoy art resumes check out S.A.M! They expanded a few years back and made it twice as big! They have odd hours so make sure to check them out before going.

Vegas

With the trip some are making plans for I thought I'd toss a couple of "other" options if you up for venturing in Sin City. IF you do beware the drivers are NUTS! Taxi drivers in places like San Francisco have nothing on these fools.

The Neon Grave yard is history with the old signs from the strip and local land marks. The tour guides are well informed and makes for GREAT photos.
The Erotic Heritage Museum
The National Atomic Testing Museum
Fremont street is more like the old Vegas where you can walk down the street like in the 80"s and 90"s plus the Zip Line and street shows

If you want some thing more natural their is Mt Charleston (my personal fav) Including some locations you can pull over to walk an easy path to see the atomic rings that are still in the landscape.

Or Red Rock is a nice scenic drive hike or mountain climb depending on your skill set.

Recommended places to stay would be
Red Rock Casino
Suncoast Hotel & Casino
Aliante Casino + Hotel + Spa

Best Casinos to Win are the Station casinos, designed with locals in mind.
Not super fancy or pretty, very functional and great staff plus I think they have five locations

hope this is helpful
