Singing Christmas songs made me smile today.

I just heard the lone call of the freight train, as it heads out into the gorge
(it's been awhile since I've heard the train). :stillheart: |

Waking up early and peeking in on my girls...fast asleep in the same room....just like old times... <3

What made me smile…
Watching the deer come out of the forest. They've been gone for a while, it's nice to see them again.
I had to post "NO HUNTING" signs on the perimeter of my property last weekend. I'll see if everyone respects my requests. |
Hearing my ex wife voice again after 7 years. Hearing her call me "Gordo"..
|
Talking again with someone who will always make me smile :)
|
A sweet, sexy morning call from my baby.
Knowing I get to keep her for two weeks over the holiday. My puppies snuggled up together on the couch next to me. |
Smiling so wide my mouth hurts!
That's it! I'm free.
I'm officially free from work for the next 20 days. |
so far...
My son crouched down on the end of my bed with the nook, totally focused on his games. |
Smile
She got up before work this morning and baked me a pumpkin pie!
|
Smiling because I'm under the blanket like a tent reading my iPad and it's making me feel like I'm about 8 years old again up past bedtime reading with a flashlight. Never mind that it's noon here.
lol, simple pleasures. |
Taking my kids to do random acts of kindness. We had a great time. Left me smiling inside.

Choosing a Christmas tree
(After nearly an hour looking at every tree available)
Me: Do you like this one? Her: They're all so beautiful! Me: But we can't have them all. So this one or keep looking? Her: Are you sure you want me to choose the tree? We've been through them all twice. Me: It's entirely up to you. Pick any one you like. Her: How will I ever choose? I like them all. Me: (laughing) It will be hard to get them ALL home let alone into the house. Her: Maybe we could set up a rotating schedule and have each one for a day or two and then change so none of them feel left out? (30 minutes later, watching the guy tie the world's biggest tree on top of my car) Her: Are you sure you don't mind that one? It's bigger than you had in mind. Me: Nope. I really love it. Are you happy with it? Her: (in very serious tone) I'm happy about a lot of things all of a sudden. Me: Yeah? How many? Her: Too many to count I think. Me: Is that so? Her: Yep. Listen, are you sure you like that tree? Me: I really do. I love that tree. Her: (Looking doubtful) OK. Me: Think you can stand one more thing to be happy about? Her: Why not? I'm not counting, remember? I won't fuss about one more. Me: (Smiling like an idiot while I get down on one knee in the snow and pull the ring box out of my pocket) Well then, will you marry me? Her: (Totally deadpan) Wow. You really DO like that tree. |
Reading a post and feeling validated by it.

Nic's post made me smile!!! Thats so sweet!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Also, my romance novel.... for much the same reason... I am living vicariously through all the mushiness. |
Hanging out with friends at a holiday party,
really yummy food, the loveliest conversations, and awesome after-hours cocktails (a Sugar Plum Martini!). But mostly, spending time in the company of friends. |
As I go into my last work week of the year, I'm thinking about all the fun activities I have planned for this week. Our theme is 'Christmas' (yes, its a big thing over here in China, well, sort of! lolol). We have typical vocabulary to learn like 'tree', 'Santa', etc. However, those are just words.
During my several decades of working with young learners, no matter what country I've worked in, I've observed that kids need to learn how to give. So, tomorrow, we're making cards to honour different workers each day this coming week. We have security guards, housekeepers, teachers, and each other to celebrate. Yes, I've purchased little gifts from the store to give with the ever-so-adorable-toilet-roll Snowman that the students will make to give with a huge card as I want to show my appreciation, as well! I know that folks will feel honoured; and, I know the students will feel great for giving. We'll also 'decorate' a tree with words reflecting positive actions we see in each other. There is nothing like recognizing a friend for making a good choice or helping another person. The joy just keeps on giving as we all take time to read what others write. I love this week! It also helps that then I'll have 12 days off! Deb |
