Good Morning Everyone,

How about some scrambled eggs, toast and Greek Yogurt this morning for breakfast? I added some crushed red pepper to my eggs this morning, and now they have a little kick, lol.

Hope you all had a wonderful end to your work week and a good start to your Saturday morning!

Have fun today!!

Zimmy

Good evening everyone!

The Rooster's bus got in late/early this morning....so he and I walked in the door at 3 a.m. :| He had a great time at Gradventure and came home with a new wand from the wand shop near Hogwarts, a light-up t-shirt from The Matrix and a scratchy throat from lots of yelling and laughing.

Kitties woke me up at 8, then again at 9.....Rooster slept until 11...then Scoote and I headed out...plant show at the extemsion office where she got me a huge bromeliad, a beautiful lemon yellow orchid and a cool pot of assorted cactus, got something to eat, did some clothes shopping for the Bahamas (found her 3 silk shirts for about $10 each...woot!)....nice clothes for the award dinner for her, new bathing suit and sandals for me...

Picked up some late lunch/early dinner for the boys from Outback, and now we're crashed on the couch....sleepy house. :alarm:

Hope you're all having a great Saturday! :)

JustJo 05-15-2011 08:52 AM

Good morning everyone :)

:bringcoffee: The coffee is on and I baked us some pumpkin bread...

http://www.becksgf.com/images/pumpkin%20bread.jpg

It made the kitchen smell wonderful. I'd stick around and visit, but Scoote is telling me that I need to go get in the shower so we can go to breakfast.

Have a great day! :gimmehug:

JustJo 05-16-2011 08:27 AM

Good morning everyone :) and Happy Monday!

I thought we all needed a healthy breakfast to see Zimmy off to her first day of work at the new job...

http://fittron.com/blog/wp-content/u...-breakfast.jpg

We want to hear all about it when you get home!

Haven't seen our friend Jake much lately....so maybe I can tempt hym back with this...

http://www.chugginmccoffee.com/wp-co...ng-300x300.jpg

We had a busy day yesterday....breakfast out, Home Depot for a variety of yard stuff, and then to the movies to see Bridesmaids. Very cute! I had expected hysterically funny, based on what a co-worker said, and I wouldn't go quite that far...but I enjoyed it, and I laughed (and I had Raisenets). :cheesy:

Scoote is still :alarm: and I'm working on getting up to speed for my week. Heading out for a little bit this afternoon for Rooster's Honor Roll presentation at school :cheer: ....and need to get my car back in at some point...now my left turn signal is kaput! Ugh!

Have a great day everyone! :gimmehug: and :lips: to my :love1:

The_Lady_Snow 05-16-2011 08:49 AM

*grabs* an apple cause I know he's out there watching:|

Have a great day Jo!!

Good luck on orientation Zimmy!!

Beautiful spring day here!!!

Zimmeh 05-16-2011 04:07 PM

Good Evening Jo Jo,

I had a wonderful day today! We had to partner up with our neighbor and find out what we had in common. Me and the guy sitting next to me, had only two things in common. We both love rock music and Sketchers shoes. Everyone I met was very nice and the staff there is just so positive and likable...I am glad that they hired me. I work in a cubicle style office, and we are having a belated Cinco de Mayo party on Thursday. I got to see the duck march and I didn't have my iPhone so I couldn't take pictures of it. After 90 days, I am eligible for benefits and they are going to cost me about $60 every paycheck, for a total of about $120 a month. I am glad that I packed my Aldo flats in my tote bag, I wore thise when we toured the hotel. My schedule is from 7:30a to 2:30p until next Monday and they have someone train you for the first week that you are there.

How was your day and did Rooster enjoy his honor roll party? Has Ford mentioned anything being recalled on your car? I know they are in the process of recalling the F-150's for issues...Hope your car gets fixed soon!

I am sitting here eating a Cadburry milk chocolate and almond bar...

Hope you are having a wonderful day,

Zimmy

popping in to say a quick hello to everyone....my drs appt is Thurs...i hope the dr can figure something out so i can go back to work...im trying to be positive even tho my dr wanted a neuro and the WC ppl insisted on an ortho...Jo an di have discussed me doing other things,bc frankly i dunno if i can continue what im doing because of the expectations of my job...plus the fact that im a doer not much of a delegater--a hard working general mgr-constant lifting bending, twisting and already on a 25lb restriction....however altho i dont make the greatest money its not bad,and i have become accustomed to it so who knows....ok done rambling..lol

Zimmy...so glad your first day went so well..sounds like you will fit right in.

Snow--who's watching? someone got u on a "eat good" diet? lol hell i need to get back on one...up til a couple weeks ago i had all but quit drinking soda and eating a lot of chocolate--however since then ive picked both habits back up and uhh the scale can tell--as can i...mentally and physically i am starting to give in a little and thats not good

ooooooh Jake where you at old friend....Jo went to the trouble of getting you some french press(is that right) all this moving and changes going on keep su busy im sure, but surely not so busy u cant pop in for a nice cuppa. :)

Hey Ms Belle....how r things up ur way?

well im off to do---something....hope everyone has had a wonderful day

JakeTulane 05-16-2011 07:06 PM

Good Evening Jo and scoote,

Ok.. Ok.. the french pressed coffee worked.. it always works.. laughs. Life has been busy.. that is indeed true. More than likely changes again by the end of the month, beginning of next. However, that is how the chapter is written.. all I can do is follow Fate and go with it. I will say this.. the changes are all for the good.. and I am happy regardless of the minimal upheaval it is giving Me right now.

I am enjoying the view off the deck..although we are getting our Spring rain now.. and it is supposed to be this drizzly overcast stuff the rest of this week I believe. It just makes you want to curl up and take a nap.. or make some of that french pressed goodness and read a book. Both of which were accomplished this past weekend.. grins.

I am also mourning the loss of a good friend. He was murdered earlier this month while he slept in his own apartment. He was a huge gay activist here and owned the local gay club. Apparently as they have been investigating it was not tagged as a hate crime as the gentleman that murdered him was known to him. They are thinking it was a lover's spat gone bad. Shame it is. We have lost a huge presence in our community here, as Billy was one to organize our Pride celebrations and had his hands in anything that would raise awareness in our community. He will truly be missed. As of the latest news the 20 year old has confessed to the murder and is being held on a second-degree murder charge with no bail. It has not been reported what the motive was, if in fact it was truly a lover's spat or something more.

scoote, I have to say I do not see an ortho being able to do much when it comes to a disc herniation. When Mine went it was a neurologist all the way. A couple of people suggested an ortho - however, the bad outweighed the good when it came to what they could do. It would be the same as going to a chiropractor from what I was told. I was fortunate and I had a wonderful neurosurgeon. However, when it comes to the back there are no guarantees. It is the one place you can really hurt yourself and not really know what the best option is for pain relief and treatment. I still have you in My daily meditations and I hope they find something soon to help you with relief. Oh and as for the job thing.. yeah.. you are going to find now that there will be alot of things you can not do.. even after the surgery. What you once did for work...might no longer be what your back can tolerate. Hey, I think you would make a great manager.. atleast it is something to look into. smiles.

Hope everyone is having a peaceful evening.

Thank you again Jo for the coffee.. I will try to stop in more often.

Waves to everyone.

As Always,
Jake

good to hear Belle :)

Jake i am a manager now for Papa Johns...the problem is i work just as hard-usually harder than all my employees which with this back injury may no longer be an option...which will then mess with my head bc i have a certain standard i like to maintain, and quite frankly the elevators on my of my employees only go to the 1st floor....as far as a dr goes i have no clue why WC is sending me to an ortho when my dr has stated, adamantly twice i dont need an ortho but a neuro..just keep sending me good thoughts that something good comes out of my visit Thurs

glad to hear ur enjoying ur view....is it covered? be nice to listen to the rain while kicked back in a chair.

night Zimmy....sleep well..and make sure u get all the eye boogers out before going to work in the morning :lol2:

time to take my sweetie to bed...she is softly sawing some small trees over there on the short end of the couch

good night and sweet dreams to everyone!

Good morning everyone :)

Jake, I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your friend. And such a huge loss to the community too. (w)

Zimmy...glad to hear the first day went well and the people are nice. That makes such a big difference! Eye boogers indeed :sunglass: geesh!

I was working on a tight deadline last night, and ended up working until about 6:30....something I always try to avoid. It worked out well though, and the project I was working to finish will help our field team a lot...so it's all good. I confess I did fall asleep on the couch though...poor Scoote....I'm sure I'm not great company in the evening since I'm almost always tired by then.

Lots to do today too...so I better get to it. Snow...don't worry...we won't tell weatherboi if you grab a danish instead of an apple! :giggle:

Have a great day everyone! :gimmehug: ...and :lips: to my :alarm: sweetie....

Good Afternoon Jo Jo,

You sound like my twin! I was so wore out from walking that 300,00 square foot hotel, that I fell asleep on the couch watching, "Murder She Wrote". I woke up about 8pm and Athena was sleeping on my stomach...I am completely exhausted since I am not used to waking up at 5am for work.

How was your day?

Zimmy

Good morning everyone :)

Coffee is on :bringcoffee: and breakfast is served...

http://www.ecotourisminamerica.com/m..._scale_q75.jpg

I thought Zimmy could use breakfast in bed especially after all that walking and early rising. :) I know it's a shock to the system, but how great that you're back to work! That first paycheck is going to feel sooooooo good!

Yesterday was busy and productive...getting some work tasks wrapped up that have been keeping me hopping...made the boys their favorite homemade cream of chicken and rice soup...made Scoote her chicken salad (now she just has to defend it from the kitties!)

Saturday we're going to Disney for the Star Wars Weekend...I'm sure it'll be a zoo, but Rooster has wanted to go for years and the timing was never right for us to come down from NY for it (since school is still in session at that time). Now that we're close, we can run up there for the day...so he's got his Jedi robe and lightsaber all ready and is really excited about it.

Heading out in a minute to take him to school, but I'll be back on and off...
Have a great day everyone! :)

How exciting to get to the Star Wars event. Bigeeee day for Rooster. Wear your Comfy shoes and all.... :) Yeeaaah.

Good Afternoon Jo Jo,

Yes my first paycheck is going to feel wonderful! No more having to fight with unemployment and being able to go to work, makes me feel like I am wanted again. Everyone at the hotel is so helpful and nice. I finished my five day training session in two days and the supervisors cannot believe how fast I am learning. Tomorrow, I get to continue transferring calls on the PBX system and sometime tomorrow, they are going to put me on the phones.

Let me know if you all want to meet up for dinner again..Disney is about a fifteen minute drive from my house and I get off from work at 2:30pm that day.

Hope you all are having a wonderful day!

Zimmy

Good Morning scoote and Jo,

Nods.. I can understand that scoot.. your work ethic will remain.. however, given your back injury .. how you maintain that work ethic is going to change alot. I went through the same thing. You will learn to adjust though.. as hard as that might be. It will be harder though, as you said when you have employees do not already tow the line like they should. When they see you in a roll that is different.. (because of the injury).. they are going to try to take advantage of that (some may).. you will need to just learn ways of dealing with it . . and let them know regardless of your injury.. your work ethic and what you expect of them has not changed. Moreso, you will be asking them to step up more because you are not going to be able to do alot of the physical things you used to do. It would be good just to have a sit down meeting with them... and explain the whole scenario.. and hope for the best.

It could definately be a worker's comp thing when it comes to the ortho. I am also with you.. given I went through it.. it is the neuro that is going to serve you best. I disc going like that is neurological not orthopedic. You may have to do some serious advocating for yourself with whoever you deal with at the worker's comp office.. because if they take you down that path it is going to end up doing you more harm than good.. when it comes to healing from your injury. The spine is just nothing to be playing with.

Always, keeping you in My meditations. I hope you get some good news today. Let Me know what happens.

Thank you Jo for the kind words. He was a wonderful guy. I have known him since I was in My 20's. I had not seen him in recently.. as I do not go to the clubs now. The last time I saw him was for Pride a couple of years ago. Just a shame really.. they still have no motive for why the kid did it.

Well, I hope you are both having a peaceful day.. thinking of you both.. always.. good luck again scoot.. let Me know how it goes.

Waves to Ms. Snow, Zimmy, Tommi, violane.. and anyone else I missed.

Leaves some.. :tea: and :bringcoffee:

Have a good Thursday everyone.

As Always,
Jake

Hello everyone :)

We had a long, fun day at Disney yesterday for Star Wars weekend. The Rooster has wanted to go for years, but we were never able since it was bad timing for the NY school schedule. Now that we're closer, we can just run up for the day so it was much easier. He had a blast (so did I :) )...and we did all the usual Disney stuff...walked too much, ate too much, spent too much....we also rode the new Star Tours ride (3 times for him, 2 times for me, once for Scoote), did the Toy Story arcade ride (my favorite) and more.

Now we're relaxing, waiting for pizza to arrive...the Rooster has his girlfriend over (she's cute as a bug and as nerdy as he is)...they'll be going swimming later since it's a gorgeous day and the pool is nice and warm.

I had a call this morning from a friend of my mother's...seems she had another bad episode and is on her way (via ambulance) to be checked into the hospital. I ended up having to call my sister to alert her (another long story) even though we haven't spoken in a year and I would have preferred to have that be a permanent arrangement.

The best news of the day...after waking up at 6:30 a.m. and laying awake for an hour...I ended up falling back asleep and snoozing until 10:30....magnificent. :)

Hope you're all having a wonderful day.

Zimmeh 05-22-2011 08:01 PM

Good Evening Everyone,

I hope you all had a wonderful Sunday! I just got home from work and I am exhausted.

Have a wonderful night and I will see you all in the morning..

Night,

Zimmy

Zimmeh 05-23-2011 06:04 AM

Good Morning Everyone,

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend! I had everyone at work lastnight telling me how well, I was doing on the phone system. My supervisor is going to let me do everything by myself tonight and I am looking forward to it. I also found out, that I was hired for the second shift, so I will now be working from 2:30pm to 11pm after this week.

I am thinking of French Toast for breakfast this morning? What do you all think...

Have a good day, I am off to run some errands before I go to work.

Zimmy

The_Lady_Snow 05-23-2011 06:14 AM

Hey!!!!

Glad you guys had fun I can't wait to have the kids down here! Zimmy congrats on doing so well!!

Big Monday shout out to you all be safe and have a good Monday!!!

JustJo 05-23-2011 06:55 AM

Good morning everyone :)

Coffee is on, and I think Zimmy's idea of french toast sounds yummy!

I always liked second shift (until I became a mom) because I could have a leisurely start to my day and get things done before I had to go into work. It's also a big vote of confidence in you Zimmy, since that's the busy time in the hotel. Sounds like it's going great!

Glad you travel with your kiddos too Snow. We always do, and it's one of the big things I take into consideration...kid friendly is really a must. Ours are fine with staying in the hotel while we go out for a bit too (in fact they like it, especially if there's room service involved for Rooster).

It's one of the reasons I hesitate on reunion....it falls during the school year for us, so coordinating with kids is feeling like a challenge. Not sure what we'll do about that yet.

My boss is taking a "mental health" day today, which means I automatically get one also, even though I'll be working :giggle:

I'll be calling in a little while to see if I can get the number for my mother's phone in her hospital room, so I can see what's going on there. They're supposed to be making a decision about surgery today, although it's hard to say when that would happen. They have her on blood transfusions and potassium....when this happened 5 or 6 years ago, it took 2 weeks for her to get strong enough to survive the surgery.

Think I'm going to need the big pot of coffee today.

Hope you all have a great Monday! :gimmehug:

Good Morning Jo Jo,

Hugs! I hope your mom is doing good and that her surgery happens soon. I know all to well, what the waiting game is like. my dad had open heart surgery and waiting for the dr was the hardest. One day you all will have to come up and I'll get permission to take you and let you all watch the duck march. You can be an honorary duck master for the day. I like second shift also. You can run errands and take your time waking up. Unlike, last week where I had to be up at 5am. I couldn't wake up until almost 8am.

Have fun today!

Zimmy

Good Afternoon Everyone,

I came home and took a nap after going to the Apple store. They had to restore my iPhone, so now the only number I have is my mom's. The guy there said that should fix the problems that I have been having; if not, my iPhone will have to be replaced again.

Thank you for the cinnamon rolls JoJo!

Have a good day,

Zimmy

Jo Jo, How is your mom doing?

Have a wonderful day!

Thanks Zimmy and Snow...it's gonna' be a rough one for awhile yet. Her "5 to 10 days" in the hospital is rapidly expanding...the decision on surgery got postponed "for awhile."

Evidently 3 specialists (a urologist, a colo-rectal surgeon, and an internist) have agreed that, in medical terms "it's a confused mess in there." Until they can see what's going on, they hesitate to make a decision....partly because she isn't very strong, so they'd rather avoid surgery if they can.

For some reason to be determined, one of her kidneys is significantly enlarged and the tube leading to it (no clue of the techinical term) is 100% blocked and non-functional. There may be a tumor. They know there is at least one major fistula but believe there might be more. It's a mess.

In other news, Scoote and I decided that we need to do something about our ever-expanding middles....and I ordered a Mobia by Nautilus. Can't wait until it gets here! :)

Hope you're all having a good day! :gimmehug:

You are welcome Jo Jo!

It sounds like her ureter is blocked. I am sorry to hear of this and I'm sending my thoughts and prayers to you and your family!

Hugs,

Zimmy

Good morning everyone :)

:bringcoffee: Coffee is on, and I vote we all have banana cake for breakfast since I baked it last night. It did get stuck in the pan (I was out of Pam spray...grrrrr), so the top is ugly, but it tastes good.

School is winding up here...Rooster and the Prince are having final exams and such...Rooster was telling me that his culinary class final is (in pairs) to bake and decorate cupcakes. (I have a feeling that the class will be eating the exam after it's graded). :giggle: He and his partner Sarah have selected a Japanese theme for theirs...so I heard all about their plans for the Japanese flag, cherry blossoms, and Ninjas....not all on the same cupcake, of course!

Hope you all have a great day today! :gimmehug:

:lips: to my :alarm: baby....

Good Evening Everyone,

Hope you all hada wonderful Thursday! I spent the majority of today at my mom's house with my mom and my oldest niece and two nephews. My youngest nephew is getting so big! He looks older that two and a half years old...My four year old niece is going to be short like my mom. It's cute knowing that my oldest niece loves to do needlepoint and how excited she became when I told her that I had left six Barbies at my mom's house for her.

I'm rambling and starving! How about some orange chicken, oriental vegetables and rice for dinner?

Have a good night!

Zimmy

Good Morning Everyone,

It has been a hectic last few days for me. I went on a job interview and was told, since I couldn't give them a set schedule, they couldn't hire me. It was a waste of my time and a waste of the recruiter's time for me to go there. Another reason as to why I don't like working in retail. I now work the 2nd shift and I am enjoying it! Matt and I have been looking at apartments and w found one that has covered parking instead of parking garages. It is in our budget and I am hoping we can get it. I spent most of the day on Thursday visiting with my mom, oldest niece and two nephews. My oldest niece loves to cross stitch and crochet. Now I know what she likes and what I can get her for her birthday...

I am thinking of Pancakes with fresh fruit, coffee and plenty of juice for breakfast!

Happy Memorial Day Weekend to all of you!

Good morning everyone :)

I think we need to start our holiday weekend with a nice brunch buffet...

http://www.chubconvergence.com/syste...t_buffet_1.jpg

I have no plans beyond lounging, sleeping, maybe some swimming or a trip to the beach....and, if we get ambitious, we may hit some estate sales.

Anyone have any fun plans?

ETA: Great minds think alike...Zimmy and I must have been posting at the same time.
I hope her pancakes are on the buffet! :cheesy:

Happy Memorial Weekend!!!!!

Good Morning Jo Jo,

The pancakes are over by the eggs...How is your mom doing? I have to work at 6am tomorrow and then I am working my regular shift on Monday. Next Friday, I may steal away back to my mom's house and take the kids swimming. I am glad that they are down here and that they are having fun.

Wht are your plans for this weekend?

Zimmy
