Why are we closeted, anyway? And why the hating on ABBA? Don't want to guess at little_fish and Lil-Miss-Sunshine's ages, but we had fun music back then :). We had fun times, period :).

DamonK 02-09-2013 12:19 PM

Yes. Definitely. Hard, steal my breath every possible moment type....

And several friend crushes.

I was going to ask if you saw the movie (the music was the best part, IMO), but didn't know it was a traveling show :). Yay!

I'm guihong, btw, ABBA lover and general '70's swooner ;).

Fabulous! Nice to meet you guihong, Sunshyne here...Your fellow ABBA lover ;)

Parker 02-09-2013 12:40 PM

I love me some ABBA :winky:

This is my favorite scene from the movie, Mamma Mia - talk about "girl power" lol - I love how all the women just keep joining in - and that woman who throws off the bundle of sticks and screams "Oh Yeah!" - love it!

Whenever I watch the movie, I have to replay this song over and over again, it is so much fun. :)

stepfordfemme 02-09-2013 01:08 PM

Oh what was started here?

I will seriously crush on anyone who loves ABBA half as much as I do.

Little Fish 02-09-2013 01:19 PM

Take your pick.

Apparently there's a whole gang of us...

>>>> fondly remembering dancing at the Trocadero in San Francisco with 400 shirtless gay men in 1983....continuous ABBA loop...

.......remembers dancing to Dancing Queen when I WAS 17! Still going strong at 46! :D

Ciaran 02-09-2013 04:25 PM

Guys and Gals

I still hate ABBA, never liked them, could never understand why anyone would.

Nor did I ever dream of marrying Agnetha, even after her divorce from Björn in 1982. In fact, every 5th April (her birthday), I say a prayer of thanks that I am not married to her.

Do I protest too much?

I don't know but, if so, at least listen to my all time favourite songs by some Swedish group:

In case, you didn't know by now, I LOVE ABBA. Finally out of the closet about it and it feels good ;)

"Seriously crush"? Why waste your time with serious crushing, I'll marry someone who loves ABBA as much as I do.

ps - what are you doing second weekend of March? Fancy a w/e in Vegas?

KCBUTCH 02-09-2013 04:30 PM

Jumping into to matter-of fact I FRICKEN LOVE ABBA THAT IS ALL!!

KCBUTCH 02-09-2013 04:35 PM

BUT I MAY GET LOOPY OVER AN ELO FAN

Being closeted in an ABBA sense is a powerful tool and is very different from being closeted over sexuality or identity.

It's not that being "out" as ABBA is wrong or that we fear our families would turn against us etc. Rather, being "closeted" gives us the surprise factor ......... I work up to 16 hours a day, it's a hard and conservative and smile-less life. It's black suits and hard work.

But on my way into the office and on my way back home, there's nothing better or more real than listening to "dancing queen" .. or my current favourite:

ABBA, for me, is the same as my fashion. It's just a part of me. Some get it - most don't. That's fine as I don't get most people either. It's so out of my day-to-day world of 9am to 5pm white collar-ism that if I ever tried to actually fit into it I couldn't.

ps - I'm all for kissing the teacher.

jac 02-09-2013 04:45 PM

I would crush on ABBA if they were here at the Planet...lol

My favorite ABBA masterpiece is Thank You for the Music... I really :heartbeat: that song!! :D

WolfyOne 02-09-2013 04:56 PM

I love ABBA as much as the rest of you.
Danced to their music at the bars in my 20's.

But...the BIG question is, who do you have a crush on here at the planet?
Always enjoy reading those, whether it be serious or friendly.
I always like to read about how we admire each other for whatever reason.

MarquisdeShey 02-09-2013 05:00 PM

Oh my god...

Crush... deadly crush... hopping up and down kind of crush.

http://ts1.mm.bing.net/th?id=H.46999...48892&pid=15.1

oksoftbutch 02-09-2013 05:16 PM

Ah .... but ABBA is a bit like alcohol. Embracing ABBA is a bit like drinking a few alcoholic drinks, inhibitions are lowered.

All of a sudden, folk start telling you (Wolfie) who they fancy.

espressolover83 02-09-2013 06:15 PM

Oh, it's been going on for almost 5yrs now :)

Ummm ...... that doesn't tell us enough. ABBA Gold is very diverse.

It's a bit like someone telling me that they are a New York baseball fan and then I'm still nervous to say the Mets are ***** on the off-chance they actually like the Mets and do not support the best team in the world (THE YANKEES).

Good songs from that album (others are nonsense):

Dancing Queen
Knowing Me, Knowing You
Take a Chance on Me
Super Trouper
Chiquitita
Fernando
Waterloo

If you like the above and dislike most of the others, you are a potential wife. Just saying.

stepfordfemme 02-09-2013 06:38 PM

I'm crushing.

I crush on ....
Ciaran's fashion sense.
SleepyButch's dance moves.
Wolfy's sweetness & coffee making skills
Little_Fish's charisma
KCbutch's energy
*femmecrush* little_ms's fabulousness
*femmecrush* dixie's kick-butt motivating self.

And the general crush kinda warm fuzzy feeling Im getting from the crush thread!

Unfortunately my current crush isn't on the planet so no further reveals are necessary!

Shoe shopping? Yes, a full hour to buy some Italian leather gucinari shoes.

Then, the rest of the weekend is spent in an Irish bar.

Okay with that?

ps - do you want tea, guinness or whiskey?

Alas, I am already discovering that I am just not wife material. Thank heavens, or I would be heartbroken.

Wife material? I don't even know what that is.

Was thinking more of a whirlwind marriage, trip around the world and then get divorced.
