How is it that, in my pocket, I have a camera, a browser, an ipod, youtube access, interactive maps, up-to-date weather forecasts all over the world, oh yeah, and a phone!, plus dozens of things I haven't listed, and YET they cannot make a room air conditioner any smaller or lighter than this one that's the size of a sub-compact automobile?

What if colors are not all seen the same. Meaning what if blue to me is yellow to you. Someone taught us and now we know that yellow is yellow. But what if it is my purple.

Speaking of sleep, it should be pretty apparent...i need some....nighty night.

I wounder that all the time and the same thing with sounds and smells!

Why am I insignificant to those that are closest to me? My family by blood and that was chosen?

Why do those that are only here for a time seem to care so much more than those that have known me for most of my life?

Why am I so painfully shy at times but loud and playful at others?

Will I ever gain trust back in my heart? Will I ever find the right one I should trust?

Why is it that half of my grown family choose to live alone day in and out just working going home and watching TV or sleeping, while the other half can't seem to sit still for a moment? We were all raised together so what makes the difference? I know the quite shy ones do not want to be so reserved or shy, so how do you learn to fight that?

Why am I be silly and so in the moment having a great time, then in an instant I will have a moment of self awareness and close off?

Will I ever have a decent job again?

What great things did i do that warrant my blessed luck with happy funny healthy animals when they come into my life?

For all the things that so happen in my life i wounder how i happen to be as strong as i am and really have good luck when i would get pulled in to the undertow with out it?

and my favorite what miracle did i pull off to deserve such an intelligent earnest thoughtful independent funny forward thinking step son that chooses to remain in my life even after his mother and i have ended our commitment to each other?

How is it this brilliant boy looks like me and acts like me more than his mother? and is it awful of me to take pride in that?

What if Eleanor Roosevelt could fly? Would WWII have been different?

The usual....work related angst....eyeballing Ebon in the dark as he snores....mentally calculating the remaining bills to pay....squashing the craving for a Nutty Buddy when we have none....until I fall asleep and dream of really weird, discombobulated things.

Maybe I don't have true synesthesia, maybe I really am just weirder than the average fox?? :| <---- stunned face

Last night's was:

What's the story in "The Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia"?
Who killed Andy?
What happened to the girlfriend?
Why does it say the Sheriff has blood on his hands?
And whose sister is singing? Was she involved in any way??

Incidentally, this is one of the only songs I will sing karaoke style.

A young woman tells the story of her unnamed older brother who returns home after a two-week trip from a place called "Candletop." The brother meets his best friend, Andy Wolloe, at Webb's Bar ("Andy Wolloe said hello, and he said, 'Hi, what's doing, Wo?'"), and Andy informs the brother that his young wife (who is later described as "cheatin'") has been seeing another man in town, Seth Amos. Andy then reveals that he, too, has been sleeping with his friend's wife. The brother is understandably upset, which scares Andy, who leaves and walks home. The brother assumes his wife has left town, gets his gun, and heads out to the back woods to sneak up on Andy and confront him. When the brother arrives at Andy's house, he finds tracks outside ("tracks that were too small for Andy to make") and discovers that someone has already killed Andy. The brother, in a moment of panic ("he started to shake"), fires his gun in the air to summon a passing sheriff. When the sheriff approaches the scene, the brother is immediately accused of murder. A "backwoods Southern lawyer" doesn't keep the sheriff and a judge from convicting the brother in a kangaroo court ("the judge said 'guilty' in a make-believe trial / slapped the sheriff on the back with a smile"), and hang him that same night, effectively lynching him. This was apparently the same night of a statewide electrical blackout, although the phrase "the night the lights went out in Georgia" could refer to the fact that the "light" of justice went out that night as an innocent man was killed by the law.

In the final verse, the singer then reveals that she was the one who killed Andy and that she had also previously killed her promiscuous sister-in-law and disposed of her body ("one body that'll never be found"), and that her brother was lynched before there was a chance to tell anyone the truth.

Beyond simply the typical police corruption, the song relates that the judge is just as corrupt as the sheriff ("...the judge in the town's got bloodstains on his hands"), as well as heartless, when rendering the guilty verdict: slapped the sheriff on the back with a smile, said "Supper's waiting at home and I gotta get to it" (The 1991 music video for the Reba McEntire version suggests that the judge was also sleeping with the wife and wouldn't listen to the truth to protect himself).

One of the biggest questions I ponder in the middle of the night AND during daylight hours is why no matter which freeway I drive on, wherever I may be going I always see one shoe/sneaker on the side of the road. There's always one, not a matched pair. Who is doing this???? I need to know why footwear is being randomly or not so randomly thrown out the window of a moving vehicle.

In search of answers!

Conspiracy theory!

And I won't even get into where my black socks go when they go into the dryer. One is always missing. ODD.

During my L.A. driving years, I saw a few very serious accidents with people thrown from the cars and everything. I noticed that for as long as weeks after that, I would see articles of their clothing along the break-down lane.

Man, I just realized that that's pretty depressing. Sorry. :o

Did I remember to shut the light and lock the front door?

These are important questions that probably won't be answered in our lifetime.

Such deep lyrics. Hat tip to you Tapu for reminding me how much I loved this cheese. Her other songs paled in comparison.

Yeah. Vicki. Mmm. She did a fine cover of "Little Green Apples," too.

There is an interesting character. Perhaps you have heard of him. His name is Coyote. Some say he is a Trickster, some will not even say his name. Some look over their shoulders wondering if someone is playing a cruel trick on them.

He is a sneaky one. But smart he is. He is low to the ground, with a neck that can stretch. He has the ability to see the path right at his feet and what stretches far beyond the end of his nose. His nose also helps, but that is not part of this story. What people don't know is that Coyote is friends with the mouse. Yup, I kid you not. Someday maybe he will tell you why, but for now....

Everyone has paths, many paths... many choices. Sometimes Coyote likes to send you on a path... who knows really why. To get your attention, he steals a shoe. Awakening in the morning, standing in the hallway, wondering.. WTF... I know I kicked them off here last night.

Later dreaming. Some how some way seeking your shoe. Seeking your path.

Don't worry about whose shoe is on the road. Nope. Just worry if one of yours is missing. Who knows what path you will follow then....
