Another FYI: I am *almost* done working with our new Marketplace. Might have it ready by tonight, watch for an announcement.

I'll send more as I find them. I'm trying to stick with games that work and have good reps.

If anyone has any games they'd like that aren't there, list them in this thread here.

Grab one of the "magnets" and move it up or down. That seems to refresh it and you get.. viola! Words that are actual words. :)

I think the leaderboard for Present Match is upside down / backwards.

Any progress on changing the chat format? I know admin mentioned trying to work on it and I know other stuff has to be addressed as well. Just checking in!
Thanks, Jess

I will have some time tonight and probably tomorrow night to work on it. I really appreciate your patience and promise to give all of you a special golden cookie for being awesome :)

Diva 12-10-2009 12:04 PM

I was rather disappointed to have the "Eternal Edit" button changed......any chance of it returning?

Thanks!

Ah.. my apologies. I totally didn't realize that. Should be fixed now.

I may have to, unfortunately, remove existing scores to get it to reset everyone.

This has been reduced to avoid potential problems that might occur if really OLD posts are edited.

So, what is the window of time now to edit? 24 hours?

I'd seen it change, but haven't had to edit after more than a few minutes, so I haven't tested the boundaries yet.

Is there a way to ignore a member?

oops never mind found it LOL

Minesweeper's scoreboard is backwards.

As it is a game in which you attempt to do something in the shortest time possible, low scores should be on top.

Thanks for letting me know. If there are others, either mention it here or ping me.

Some of you may have noticed some weird activity today on the site. My apologies. That was me trying to tweak a link to galleries so y'all can :perv:

It wasn't working and after a bit of tweaking and such, I went with a simplier solution so there should now be a link in each user's post "bits" (the info on the left) just after the post count info. I'll see about adding it elsewhere into the profile for those times when not looking at posts and you're looking at someone specific.

Thank you for this Linus! I was just going to ask IF this was there somewhere, somehow to see photo's off of folk's profile - and how to work it? (I thought I was missing something right in front of me!)

And here, I didn't want to look "dumb" asking...

:seconddoh:

*P.S. GREAT job with all of the smiles/emoticons!!!! :playingcat:

(Oh, already asked and answered here somewhere question, but can you explain in a very simple way how to upload a photo for me? I tried like I did at my last site, but it said TOO LARGE! I don't know how to make it smaller to the specifications requested here. I don't even understand what it means! Appreciate it.)

Sincerely,
WILDCAT

Sincerely,

It either means the size (in KB) is too big or that the dimensions ( aaa by bbb) is too big. For general members this size limitation is 64KB or 100x100 pixels, whichever is larger.

You can start by going here to resize your picture down to a smaller size: http://www.shrinkpictures.com/

Once it's at that size, then go to the gallery and select Upload photos on the to right-hand side.

Browse for the photo.

Select it and press Okay

Then give the picture a title and select Upload/Submit.

I'd love it if the thread ratings were not anonymous.
I get that it is a privilege members have paid for, but in the interest of transparency I would prefer that the anonymity of raters was removed.
In general, anonymity (in my view) does not encourage accountability or community-mindedness.

:rrose:

Actually, that's not part of the Membership but a default of the forum. I've been trying to find a mod for this since even Admins, AFAIK, don't even know who voted.

Actually we CAN see who voted but not in an easy way. It takes a database query (which I have used once before to see who kept rating a bunch of threads a "1").

From what I have read on the software forums, the bug with voting is also that once someone votes on a thread, other people dont have the chance to vote. - which sucks if someone rates the thread a "1" because then, its there forever

Once we upgrade to the new version of our software, a lot of these issues should be fixed.

Cyclopea, I agree with you. I think that more problems come out of anonymous behavior than its worth sometimes. The accountability factor and all.

Have y'all thought about maybe implementing a system for instant messaging like facebook has?

:rrose:

thank you for bringing up anonymity Cyclopea. i'd like to add that i sincerely appreciate the AdminOwner(s) for choosing to have Mods patrol the hallways using their own names. it's a pleasant vote of confidence in those chosen to moderate the forums as well as another lovely bit of transparency. gives me a warm fuzzy feeling...faith in my community and all that other important stuff.

i'd like to add my thanx for the wealth of smilies. they're a lot of silly fun and i'll stand in line for a dose of that any day.

p.s. i think Diva should have her own smiley.

This site is all the social networking I do, so I don't know exactly what you mean, but isn't the reps and user notes thing close to what you are referring to?

No ma'am I mean the instant messager feature on Facebook and some other sites that use them. Kinda like yahoo messenger but it is not separate from the website.

Let me look through the mods next week and get back to you on that. I know what you're talking about. There are "shoutbox" options that can be on the main forum page but what I think you mean is like a gmail or AIM or other buddy list that you can IM to when you know someone is online.

What NAAG is asking for is like whispering privately to someone in a chatroom, :linus:--a teeny window opens at the bottom of your screen and it's private. The window closes if you leave the website; it's not independent like a yahoo IM.

Selenay 12-22-2009 02:08 PM

For the record, I'm really not a fan of the IM thing.

If you want to interact with people, you can trade yahoo messenger, skype or AIM addresses, if you don't want to use a PM.

I don't want IMs from on the site, and if it is instituted I hope there is an option to decline IMs.

Medusa 12-22-2009 02:50 PM

There is a mod for this but I am doing some reading on it and several users have reported an significant slowdown with bandwidth. More reading....

And Selly? I'm with you on this one. I would want an option to turn it off. I keep mine turned off most of the time on facebook.

NAAG - What would feel different to you about the Facebook-style messaging than the Private Messaging system? Less response time?
