5k row this morning before work.

I'm going back to a gym though. The last few years I've mostly been exercising at home/outside between outdoor bike riding and my rowing machine/spin bike at home. But I'm getting bored with it and finding myself setting in at home without working out after work. The winter has me slowing down. So I'm going back to the YMCA- it's just a mile from my work- so I can swing by there before going home and do a spin class or hop on equipment. I can also use another YMCA a few miles away on the weekend that has lap swimming as well as spin and some other classes I might like. Yay!

nycfem 12-27-2017 06:40 PM

I stayed away from the matrix. Until they take away the two old stairmasters, I'll use them. I did 30 minutes on the stairmaster and watched a really awesome documentary on Netflix called "Voyeur." Then I did 20 minutes floor exercises, weight lifting, and stretching.

I'm loving my winter break!

RockOn 12-28-2017 09:48 PM

During my lunch hour, I literally ran through Home Depot today, tossing things into my buggy. I did not call my supervisor from Home Depot and tell him I was taking a two hour lunch either. I was proud of me. LOL! Made it back to work just under the wire with only forgetting two things. :)

nycfem 12-28-2017 10:35 PM

I did not even attempt the matrix. I went to the stairmaster and did the same routine as yesterday 40 minutes. I watched yet another good netflix documentary, this one about Robert Kardashian's role in OJ being found not guilty. Then 20 minutes of weightlifting and yoga. It was very relaxing.

Sunshine 12-28-2017 11:00 PM

Finally the fires in California are out and the air is cleaner. I started my regular routine this week.

100 situps
20 push ups
20 Mountain Climber
Arm weights

I am so much more relaxed when I workout and it works for me.

Nycfem, if you like, I would be more than happy to go through the manual of the Matrix, and share with you the steps that you want to do on it. Just get me the make and model of the unit. I will find the manual online and go from there:glasses:.

The offer will always be there for you.

This winter break has been the best. Today I got to go to the gym and do another evening work-out... and not have to worry about getting up early the next morning! I did the same as the past two days: 40 minutes on the stair master, followed by 20 minutes of weight lifting, floor exercises, and stretching. Today on Amazon Prime I watched something with a title like "The 911 faker" about a woman who pretended for years that she'd been in the WTC on September 11th and lost her fiance. It was interesting. I've been lucky with the docs lately...

nycfem 12-31-2017 09:15 PM

Today (New Year's Eve):

Since there are now 2 instead of 7 stairmasters, the 2 were in use, so I went to the Matrix ClimbMill (terrible name!- I used to be a master, now I'm a hamster!). I did 30 minutes while watching a Netflix doc on Herbalife. Then I did 30 minutes of weight lifting, floor exercises, and stretching.

Judith was there. The gym closes at 7 due to New Year's Eve. I asked if she was doing anything for New Year's Eve. I shouldn't have asked! Of course she is not.

nycfem 01-01-2018 07:17 PM

There was a stairmaster free so I didn't have to use the matrix climbMill, woohoo! I did 30 minutes on the stair master and then 30 minutes of weight lifting, floor exercises, and stretching. I abandoned a documentary on Herbalife and started watching "Strange Addictions" on Hulu. OMG, love it!

This is the last day of my break! It's back to work tomorrow. I had a wonderful staycation!

Had been with the flu? since Christmas Eve, and well, no running, no
walking, nothing...except today headed to the office finally, but home
to strange concoctions to make sure it's all gone. Thank G-d for close
friends who make home remedies...and they work.

Tomorrow, really? A run, though don't know yet how far, just outside!

Greco with cabin fever...smiling

nycfem 01-02-2018 10:14 PM

Today I did 40 minutes on the stairmaster (Yes, got lucky again by finding it open!), and 20 minutes with weights and stretching.

I am continuing to watch "Strange Addictions" on Hulu. Such shows are pretty much made for me. I finished the episode about Maskers/ men who dress up as rubber dolls and moved on to the one about the woman who fell in love and had a commitment ceremony with a rollercoaster! Yep, you heard it right!

Greco 01-03-2018 01:30 PM

How delicious it is to run outside again...3mi this am...slow
and steady...with face mask because the air was cold and
my glasses would fog up...smiling...it's free this beauty here
free Mother Nature and expansive sky...alright rambling now.
It feels great to feel good.

tomorrow...a visit with my gym buds.

easygoingfemme 01-03-2018 06:36 PM

Back to my old gym today! Took a really good spin class after work. Felt excellent :)

Gayandgray 01-03-2018 10:56 PM

Yesterday I took a short walk. Today I did some Pilates. Tomorrow I’ll be shoveling lots of snow.

Gayandgray 01-04-2018 05:08 PM

I shoveled snow for just over 3 hrs plus helped one of our newer neighbors push their car out of a snow pile. :byebye:

This day felt so strange...must have been the overcast sky...anyway, gym
day, and the buds were all accounted for...as for me it was weights day and
it's fun if not a bit painful...finished with my 4mi run.

candy_coated_bitch 01-04-2018 05:31 PM

I did some deep cleaning in the kitchen for about an hour. That was about it in this weather.

nycfem 01-04-2018 08:25 PM

I had a snow day today and made it to the gym. When I started the stair master I felt a tiny little something in my left knee from the movement, so I left the stair master and did the treadmill for 45 minutes at 2.8 mph while watching Strange Addictions on Hulu (heart rate 132). Then I did 15 minutes of yoga.

The treadmill was really nice. It wasn't an intense work-out because I wanted to stay very balanced and reduce impact since it is a high impact machine. Still, it felt great!

Gemme 01-05-2018 06:37 AM

Between yesterday, last night and this morning, I've gotten in a few hours of shoveling and snow monitoring.

easygoingfemme 01-05-2018 06:52 AM

Yesterday was mostly shoveling and I did an emergency move for a new client in the middle of the snow storm. Thankfully there wasn't a lot to move in but it was still a workout because I had to park a way away from the house that was being moved into because the main road was too snowy and folks were sliding all over the road and I was pretty sure my car would get totaled if I parked close to the house.

Today I have another move and it's -15 right now. But this move is mostly going to be me inside dictating to movers where to place items from their truck. The house will be wide open and cold but at least I won't be slipping on ice and carrying things.

Then, if all goes as planned, spin class at 5:15. Whoop! That will warm me up.

nycfem 01-05-2018 08:39 PM

Today I did 50 minutes on the Stairmaster after work. Then 10 minutes of leg stretches that felt great. I watched the rest of Strange Addictions on Hulu- so good! Then I watched an old Catfish episode on Hulu, the one with Mhissy if anyone knows the classics.

Anyways, Judith was at the gym cafe, sitting with empty Chinese food-type boxes (meaning she brought her own food). I think Judith is lonely. I pretended not to see her because I prefer to talk with her in the relative quiet of the locker room. I wonder if her story that she is from Hong Kong and works from home in finances is true. You really never know if what someone tells you at the gym is true or not.

nycfem 01-06-2018 09:11 PM

Tonight I did 30 minutes on the stairmaster and watched another good hulu true crime series: Who the Bleep did I marry.

Who is nerdy enough to go to the gym on a Saturday night? Me. And Judith. We chatted in the locker room.

cathexis 01-07-2018 05:05 AM

Please help me get going. I have a surgery that wound benefit from upper body and core workout and/or some bulking up.

Any encouraging comments very welcome, here or by PM
Thanks in advance.

Wrang1er 01-07-2018 09:20 AM

I walked almost a mile this morning. It's been a while.

nycfem 01-07-2018 07:46 PM

30 minutes on the stairmaster while watching "who the Bleep did I marry"-- still retaining my interest. I've been having luck this week getting the last two stairmasters available in the gym.

Gemme 01-07-2018 08:41 PM

More shoveling today!

bright_arrow 01-09-2018 01:31 AM

Dance cardio a la Xbox 360 Kinect. Laughed a lot, though at the dancing or the pictures taken during I couldn't say.

Cold...cold...cold, but no snow...under a gray sky as big as
the world...5mi this am...my thoughts went to those days
when I couldn't get past half a block in the park...and how
little by little I engaged with the joy of moving my body
and the sensualness of feeling it sweat, and gain strength
and in my mind I was flying...until my little old lady friend
would pass me...smiling...damn she can run!

I took a walk today in the drizzling rain. I need to do this every day. Not just for my body but my mind and spirit as well.

Medusa 01-11-2018 09:31 AM

I'm on Day 8 of getting at least 10,000 steps per day after being kinda complacent for the last several months.
Feeling good but rusty AF!

Worked at home yesterday and home again today so getting my steps means getting creative. Lots of walks with Bella and taking the long way around the house to gather laundry. Also stepping in place while on conference calls :)

RockOn 01-11-2018 02:02 PM

spilled and cleaned up a whole 2 liter Coca-Cola in breakroom just before lunch

+1 on mind and spirit. Did the same here, except no drizzle. Have a walking trail at work. Warm and breezy today so the tree branches were hitting and it sounded nice.

Also work out almost every day at a gym. Just for half an hour or so.

Gemme 01-12-2018 08:24 PM

More shoveling!

Breathless 01-12-2018 09:02 PM

When I was a youngster.. a few moons ago, I loved to ice skate.. last time I went I was about 12 or so. Part of my resolutions for this year is to BE way more way more active. Bought some new skates yesterday and heading out in -34. If I'm not back in the next day - I've frozen in the ice some where.. help .. lol (bring hot cocoa please)

30 minutes on the stairmaster while watching Toddlers and Tiaras (*don't hate me!*)

30 minutes of weightlifting, floor exercises, yoga and stretching

I had just had difficult time with my family. Whenever I have to be in my step-mother's house it dredges up a lot of anger without my trying. I went to the gym after as a meditation, to decompress and get myself out of my mood.

However, when I got back home, my spouse and I got into a little disagreement that I feel my step-mom engineered, so the feelings came back. So it was just one of those days.

I called my dad to confront him about it but he has Parkinson's and sounded frail, so I just thanked him for the nice time today. BB agreed that was best.

On the stairmaster I felt kind of exhausted. My numbers were lower. Perhaps I am fighting off illness, so I took some Emergen-C. On days when I'm slower at the gym, I just remind myself not to freak out and just to go with the flow.

Dr. King during 6

This am with its rising Sun...running with poetry
running with me and in my head...that was
until the images stepped-in...ran 6mi and
it was rather warm for a Winter's day...

Dr. King's birthday and remembered clips
of his speeches on TV back then...how does
one honor such a person...by remembering
and sending his Spirit gratitude for his having
been among us...yes, it gets deep on these runs...

Today I walked the whole High Line and back with a femme friend. She dressed super cute and I dressed like an Eskimo. But, hey, I wasn't cold! I'd say we walked about an hour and a half. It was high 20s and sunny. I love to walk while chatting with a friend.
