We'll be picking Worm up soon as well!!! I'm excited to hear about his first day, then off to boxing!!! Oprah is reshowing the Chaz Bono interview tonight we missed it the first round catching it tonight. I don't even know what to say about all this Irene stuff...

:overreaction:

Zimmeh 08-23-2011 06:02 AM

Good Morning Everyone,

Have a wonderful day!

Zimmy

JustJo 08-23-2011 06:24 AM

Good morning everyone :)

Boys are off to school...the earlier morning is tough, but I'm sure I'll get in the swing of it shortly...just need to go to bed by 10, which is a little weird, but necessary.

We're watching Hurricane Irene too....need to pick up bottled water and maybe another flashlight just in case. So far, she's got 100 mph winds and is still a category 1 according to NPR, so I'm not panicking. I am, however, making a list of items we need to be ready to do, including put up the shutters. I need to look at them later today and make sure I know how, plus have all the screws, wing nuts, etc.

My theory is...if it's a 1 or a 2 I'm willing to batten down the hatches, bring in the patio furniture, put up the shutters and ride it out. If it turns into a 3, shutters are up, everything is inside and we're out of here.

I'm up doing statistics already this morning....:|

I think I need this...

Hope you all have a great day! :cheesy:

ever since Ike i make sure to keep a case of bottled water in the house at all times. it's amazing how quickly you get perspective on what you really need. 2 weeks with no power? FINE. 1 day with no water? FML!

i am praying for everyone in each potential path!

Good Morning Everyone,

Breakfast is ala carte this morning! I am working until 5p tonight so I will be back after then!

Have a great day!

Zimmy

JustJo 08-24-2011 06:33 AM

Good morning all :)

Got the boys off to school, although Rooster was extra sleepy....he's not used to this waking up at 6 a.m. and being out the door by 7 routine yet.

Glad that Irene seems to be passing us by, although I'll be keeping an eye on reports just in case she decides to hang a left. I'd really rather not scurry around and try to get the hurricane shutters up this week, although the beach will be calling for shell and treasure hunting on Friday and Saturday. It's always interesting to see what any storm churns up, and this should be a big one.

:bringcoffee: Coffee's ready...and so is breakfast...

Hope you all have a great day! I'm off to (try to) be productive! :)

The_Lady_Snow 08-24-2011 06:55 AM

We're at the pediatricians office someone needs shots. Still keeping an eye on Irene cause ya never know! Hope everyone has a great hump day!

Leigh 08-24-2011 07:27 AM

Good morning Kitchen friends, I hope that you all have an amazing Wednesday and an even better Hump Day :D

JustJo 08-25-2011 06:33 AM

Good morning kitcheneers :)

It's only Thursday but it's also my Friday....I'm taking a day off tomorrow to go to the beach, relax....and hopefully do nothing productive.

Today, however, I have a pile of stuff to get done for work because I'm trying desperately to get caught up.

Hope you all have a great day and, as Rooster would say, may the force be with you!

The_Lady_Snow 08-25-2011 07:07 AM

Good morning Jo & Family!!! Hope you have a relaxing day at the beach!! Keeping you in our thoughts during this stressful time (((hugs))) give Scoote a shout out she's missed!

Andrea 08-25-2011 08:08 AM

Good morning all! Stopping by to grab a cup of coffee filled with force this morning.

Been so busy, I expect to see myself coming around the next corner. LOL

Yesterday was the fourth anniversary of our wedding. Rene surprised me with flowers he delivered to work, I took off early, we went to our favorite restaurant for dinner, and then shared a bottle of wine at home. It was lovely.

I think he deserves to be taken away to relax for a few days. Maybe I will go too. LOL

Enjoy the end of the week everyone.

chrisbutch 08-25-2011 04:26 PM

Tonight, we are having the following: chicken tenderloins with sweet peppers diced up, mushrooms diced up, frozen sliced carrots and brown rice with a glass of chocolate soymilk. The chicken, peppers and mushrooms and carrots were cooked in EVOO with a dash of garlic salt, basil and fresh ground black pepper. After the rice cooked, I mixed it in and hot damn, is this delicious! I put some aside for lunch tomorrow...

Enjoy and I am really having fun cooking different dishes!

Zimmy
<For some unknown reason, I am really having a blast baking and creating new recipes>

glad to see ya around these parts!

oh and hello to everyone else as well....Jo and I are making a day at the beach tomorrow...should be some cool finds after this storm...the Prince and i went this evenign for a bit...found some bottles, few shells, and some kind of animal thingy...i thought it was wood at first, but upon closer inspection it is bone (altho it feels like wood) and its like a big piece of bone with a leg/arm bone thru it...hard to explain but pretty damn cool!

scootebaby 08-25-2011 06:57 PM

upon further research it turns out that what i found was a sea turtle...top shell(that broke when i tried to pull it out of sand) and 3 of the ribs(which i brought home) and something that looks kinda like a paddle....cleaned them, then gonna make a windchime thingy out of them!

just thought id share! :)

Good Morning Everyone,

Hope you all are safe from Hurricane Irene! We didn't get much here in Orlando, and I was disappointed. I was really hoping she would clear the humidity out of the air, and cool the temps off. No such luck!

I am thinking of homemade pancakes with pumpkin pie spice to give them some flavor and eggs for breakfast...

Have a great day, I am off to run errands..

Zimmy

Zimmeh 08-27-2011 07:22 AM

Good Morning Chris,

You are welcome! I even made a full Irish Breakfast for you this morning! You have been busy with your house, college and your job. You should try and come to the reunion next year! Thank you for the pictures of the new house and it came out gorgeous!

Have a great day,

Zimmy

Good morning everyone :)

Up too early again for a Saturday....my eyes popped open at 6:30 a.m. and that was that! At least the pool is done, the potted plants put back onto their places on the patio and the laundry is started!

Coffee's on....

Zimmeh 08-27-2011 04:44 PM

Dinner is served!!!

I made round eye steaks with baked mac & cheese<lowfat shredded mozzerella cheese> and great northern beans. I put the steaks in a pan, sprinkled it with garlic salt, crushed red pepper and basil and then added water to it and then I covered it and let it steam for about five minutes. Afterwards, I took the meat and flipped it over and kept scraping the bottom of the pan with the meat to evenly coat it. After I let it brown on each side, I added more water and put the lid back on. I let it cook for almost twenty minutes and used the au jus as the gravy! It gave the mac & cheese and great northern beans a delicious flavor...

Have a great night,

Zimmy

JustJo 08-28-2011 08:35 AM

Good morning everyone :) ....and where are my manners? Welcome Jazz! :rrose:

How about a little coffee and fruit to start the day?
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-i...+breakfast.jpg

Looks like a beautiful day here....not sure if we'll head to the beach again today or not. It's been amazing shelling because of Irene...but Scoote is still asleep, so not sure if I'll go wake her up or not. Hmmmm....

Zimmeh 08-28-2011 08:43 AM

Good Morning Jo Jo,

Thank you for the coffee and fresh fruit! I say, go wake her up if she didn't have to work lastnight..

I to forgot to welcome Jazzie to the thread and I apologize. My brain is fried from the training I am going through at my job.

Have fun today!
