Now you have more time...
...well, you have another 1.26 microseconds in every day. The earthquake in Chile was so strong that it changed the earth's rotation speed, slowing down the day by 1.26 microseconds and also moved the Earth about 3 feet on its figure axis. (The figure axis is the axis around which the mass of the Earth is balanced, it is NOT the same as the North-South axis but is offset by about 10 meters.)

Just what I need...more time on my hands~~~~~~

I say it just highlights the importance of living in the now rather than the tomorrow since it may not be there... |

Thanks for catching this Linus! Cheers Aj |
Dammit AJ! I had so many plans for that extra 1.26 millisecond.
And now ... Gone....all my dreams and plans...just gone... :) |
Excellent...and now I have just lost time I was saving in order to prepare for the Galactic Alignment. :| And the Pole reversal. :closetopic: CrAp :crybaby: :daywalker: |

So, time really is NOT on our hands. And the article mentioned 3" (regarding axis shift?), I believe - not feet. Now, I don't understand much of this... but, with spin, gravity and angles and such... will this rectify itself over the course of [some] time that you know of? Will this affect all things very well predicted like exact times of New and Full Moons, and the calendar year(s), ultimately? Clock times everywhere?? How will this impact us AJ in those ways do you believe? It's like another whole time existence/reality on our hands, sort of - just like that!? Because it will eventually all add up and/or catch up, yes? Things will have to be changed now, right? (Timings?) And what about changes with anything else, like seasonal and climate? (Over a course of time here I'm talking.) Thanks, WILDCAT |
You have to know that the Zombie Apocalypse of 2012 is now closer than ever before!

I guess we better get to work! :)

Geez, am I the only older type person jumping for joy!!! LOL.... every milisecond counts at my age!!!
:thud: goes the senior buitch.... |

They'd have to REALLY crunch some numbers though. I expect them to say, "SEE, SEE!!"... "it's happening"! And I wonder if Pat Robertson will be muzzled for this "event". (Or, has he barked out some dumb-assed darn thing already?) ___ And here, I was just kind of bummed out about getting older - and how quickly time seems to fly!! Drats. :bolt: *Must hurry and pay bills...(!) |

Going to add this lost microsecond to all of my lost keys, lost socks, lost ____. You get the picture. Mother Nature is playing a cruel trick on my middle aged, progressive wearing eyes and CRS mind.

Somebody will blame this on queers.

Does it mean my finals will be 0.00000126 seconds sooner? OMG, how will I ever study in time????

It won't affect climate or seasons since it did not change the Earth's orientation on its plane of orbit around the Sun. (The reason we have seasons is that Earth does not orbit the Sun at a 90-degree angle relative to its plane of orbit. Instead we're tilted about 23-degrees toward the sun with a slight wobble so that sometimes it's closer to 22 and sometimes closer to 24 degrees). The only real-world application I can think would be *at all* affected by this are GPS systems since they take into account the rotation of the Earth. But even that won't matter for the GPS you and I use in our cars since they move so slow relative to what can be done in a millionth of a second. Cheers Aj |
