For the love of a spork! All things gadgety!
In the past year or so I have become somewhat enamored by certain lil life saving or at least time saving ( back saving, etc.) gadgets.
I figured some other folks out there probably have precious lil tools that they just can't live without and it would be cool to turn each other on to the latest in electronics, hardware, etc. My two newest and mostest favorite are A) The Hammerhead automatic hammmer made by craftsman. It is absolutely fantastic for doing crown molding and other projects where having a free hand is necessary! The next is B) the lights that either attach to a cap or wear as a headband. I use it for everything from lighting up the lines I need to follow with a jig / scroll saw to walking the dogs at night! Having two dogs on leashes doesn't allow for a flashlight, so the headlamp is great! What do you guys have? I'm always looking for new handy/ fun things to work with or play with! |
*pokes my Daddy* Why's it gotta be "what do you GUYS have"??!?!?!? Girls, as you know perfectly well, enjoy tools, gadgets, and all things home reno related!
:p I know what you meant, just giving you hell. Your lil handy, dandy homodepot lovin' girl |
see now.. this is how all things unrelated start... I "could" have put this in the "butches" thread, but I purposefully did not, coz I knowssssss my girl is a handy dandy mizz wizard with some power tools.
I adore you and your affinity toward gadgetry.. so, tell me purdy lady.. whatchu got???? GIMME! |
i think the best gadgety things we have belong in another thread! *wink*

I was watching NCIS and Dinozzo freaked out when one of those flat robot vacuum cleaner things circled out from under a couch. It goes and goes and goes, hits something and turns and goes another direction. I have hardwood floor that breed dust over night , and of course there are the two fuzzy furpurrs that fly around the house. Does anyone have one? Know someone that has one? It might drive my two cats up the their cat trees all day though. I DO Want that hammer... |
Love Gadgets!
I am ready to purchase a Kindle (sp?) but am reading about the one Sony put out for much less, difference is that the Kindle seems to have wifi, and the Sony version is similar to my Ipod, just plug and download... would love to hear from people who have both and their opinions before I buy one.

and Amazon.com has it on a lot of the Book Pages. Thanks Jack, Just added Sears to my to do tomorrow list.AWESOME for my tool collection. |

Barnes and Nobles has one too... have you seen it? |
Every gadget I've acquired has become lost at some point, except for my trusty mini Swiss army knife. It gets used nearly every day. Hope I don't lose it but now I've probably cursed it, dammit.
|
My dad has some sort of odd obsession with having tools he never uses... so I just use them when hes not looking. *bats eyelashes*
but honestly... my "i just cant live without" things are still duct tape and zip ties... *shrugs* |
I love the micro hook! I must have one and be apexy cool too now!
Yes, that's the hammerhead Jack! < insert lil MC Hammerhead dance here> They also have a pretty snazzy multi-tool that has attachments for cutting stuff etc. My newest obsession is a sliding double compound miter saw. No more flipping the crown to get the right cuts! Although the missy elliot song about crown molding was hot.."put the crown down flip it and reverse it ".. That WAS about home repair wasn't it? It's got a great beat and I can dance to it! The gadgets in "another thread" can also be found at homo depot. The plumbing section has a wonderful little "funny pipe" as I recall. :spank: Keep the gadgets coming! |

My Ex and her partner went to Switzerland last year, and bought me a wonderful Swiss Army Knife. It remains wonderful, as I can't figure how the hecka to open it. |
Just for the record, there is NOTHING funny about the "funny pipe" except maybe some :perv: moments.
Does anyone have a Dogie Doolie? Its on the list to purchase but I wanted to ask of anyone's experience with it? Like it? Love it? Couldn't live without it? Don't waste the $? Jack... just how many trip wires do you encounter that you might need that grappling hook thingy? LOL |
There is no practical reason why I want these - other than the fact I just do! (hey, you never know when they can come in handy....)

ok.. the goggles go on the list too.. I can use them to spot the landmines that need to go into the dooley!

No but I will look now for it! Thanks sweetie! |
*sneaking in to add to the honeydo list* "take handy girl to dinner and to see 2012 tonight."
...no gadgets required...sorry for the derail... carry on :p |
So, anyone who knows me knows that I believe if you can't do it with a swiss army knife then you don't need to do it. I've got 91 of them (and 1 ordered). I've always got 2 or 3 on me and they get used every single day.
Hey I'mOneToo! I so agree with you! The nice thing is that they're easy to replace. And hey, then you'd have an excuse to buy another one! Quote:
If you haven't tried oiling it that might help. Another option is that swiss army guarantees their knives for life. Any thing wrong, including stuff like broken blades from extreme use, they fix for no charge. All you pay is the postage to get it there, they cover postage back to you. Let me know if you want me to track down that info. By the way, what model do you have? Quote:

Everyone who ever wanted to be Batman needs one of those grappling hooks *eyebrow waggle* Gryph was practically salivating--I didn't dare play the video! lol!
|
ah Warrick this knife has *sentimental value* a gift from someone, and if it was lost another wouldn't be the same.
(but I'd still need another one!) It's easy to operate Tommi, just pull on the side where the little dips are. Unless it's a full-size unit, that I can't help you with. The oil, yeah, what Warrick said. |
The Best Lawnmower Attachment?

Hi I'mOneToo,
I do understand about sentimental value. Most of the knives in my collection could be replaced, but, similar to you, there are a few that couldn't be.But ah, I do love my knives! -Wicket Quote:

Wow, and I thought I was long-winded...
Seriously though, true story. My girlfriend and I were going to a fundraiser event that formal, so we were all dressed to the 9s. We're walking toward the building and the other femme (not my girlfriend) stumbles and loses her shoe. One of the straps had torn from the sole. Swiss army knife to the rescue! I pulled out my pin and repaired her show. Truly she had to cautious as it certainly wasn't a permanent fix but it got her through the night! -Wicket Quote:

I dont know if I would call it a gadget but I call it sent from the heavens LOL
As some of you may know, I have a huge french mastiff puppy and her days of dragging me where ever she wanted are over LOL Its been a long time since a walk was enjoyable. It stopped being enjoyable right around the time she hit 75 LBs. she would get this look on her face and I knew what was coming. just taking off from a dead stop to a full run. there goes arwen, followed shortly by me sideways LOL But thanks to the ever wonderful Miss Christie, who highly recommended it. I bought one and now I am back in control of this monster. She hates it that I can stop her in her tracks LOL but there was very little struggle to get her to wear it and has settled in nicely to it. so thanks Miss christie from my back, arms, legs and everything in between LOL :bouquet: wolf |
