What are gonna be/do for Halloween?

Halloween is definitely one of my favorite times of the year. You get to be anyone/anything in the whole world for Halloween. So, my questions are: What are your plans for Halloween? If you're dressing up, what are you dressing up as? Got kids? What about them?
As for me, my plans for Halloween are: Going down to New Orleans with my twin sister to stay with my girlfriend. Saturday we're all going to VooDoo Fest where we will all get very drunk while my girl and I are dressed as Moulder and Scully :piratelaugh: Sunday shall be a morning of recovery, then an afternoon trip home. Monday I'll make the short drive to Leesville to be there for the first time my godson really goes trick or treating.

So, how about y'all?

Rockinonahigh 10-12-2011 10:18 AM

OMG a VooDoo Fest. I has a jealous face!!! I think that should be on my "list of fun things to do".

I love love love Samhain. My kids are all grown but I loved taking them trick o' treating. When they got older and told me I could no longer come I was ssssssooooo sad. Every year I would dress up. I loved handing out candy. Sometimes I would negotiate such as... you give me your black licorice I will give your three candy bars, it actually worked a couple of times. But I live in a walk up apartment now and I don't get the thrill of scaring the little ones :|<----- sad face.

But I rallied...

This year I am going as a Japanese Samurai woman named Toyoko. She has a chinese counterpart Li Chi ... so... I get to wear my boot knives, my throwing knives (Cause both characters slayed the snake/serpent with knives) a chain belt, and a TOTALLY comfortable costume. All white. I wish I knew more about Chinese and Japanese color symbolism. Is white their color for maidens as well? The only issue is that I would love to use black hair spray paint, but I dance like a mad woman and I am not willing to sacrifice my favortist white shirt for my costume.

Next....

I love Halloween!!!

This weekend, I am running the CarnEVIL of Kink at my local BDSM club. I will dress as a Japanese girl to do it. Kind of like a geisha but without the elaborate make-up. I just do not have time to do to.

Next weekend is the "Magic City Pagans' Witches Ball." It is a yearly event that accepts canned food for the local food banks. I have lots of friends in that group so I like to go support them. I am dressing in my Mardi Gras outfit. I love the outfit and have won "Queen of the Ball" in it several times but it is too much to deal with for the CarnEVIL.

The next weekend, I am going to try to take my kids to "Fright Fest" at Six Flags-we have to see how finances are first. Either way, they are dressing as pirates for Halloween night.

Hmmmm...

I think I'll wear a rubber on my head and go as a dick; there are some that would say I don't really need a costume for that. Lol

Glenn 10-12-2011 12:52 PM

I like to dress up just to give candy and scare some kiddoes heh. This year I am a bloody pope, white bloody gown, fangs, cross, sword, axe, and of course, the fancy gold cardboard hat.

kannon 10-12-2011 01:59 PM

Hunter Thompson

I'm thinking I should cut my hair exactly like his, and shave the top to replicate the balding. Yellow aviator sunglasses. Cigarette holder. White bucket hat with the green underside. Gonzo journalism style. Definitely not a stretch for me.

I hope this doesn't burst your bubble, but......White is the colour of mourning and is associated with death and is used predominantly in funerals in Chinese and Japanese cultures.

I'm gonna be me.

Soft*Silver 10-13-2011 12:52 AM

Abigail Crabby 10-13-2011 03:09 AM

I will be dressed as an Inbound Sales Representative lol

I'm working on Halloween - I never get to see the lil kiddies and give out kandy.

I haven't gone out on Halloween as an adult in years - back when I was into bar hopping I loved dressing up and hitting all the clubs.

Hope everyone posts photos of their costumes :)

luv2luvgirls 10-13-2011 06:12 AM

Sachita 10-13-2011 07:47 AM

always2late 10-13-2011 08:12 AM

I love, love, LOVE Halloween! It's my favorite holiday! We were invited to go to Salem, Mass. but I declined. I heard that it can get very crowded and crazy on Halloween, so I rainchecked the invite for a less touristy time. Unfortunately, I also realized that I'll be in school all day on Halloween, which sucks because I was SO looking forward to taking the monkeyboy trick-or-treating. We put together an awesome costume for him of his latest hero, Captain Jack Sparrow from the "Pirates of the Caribbean" movies. Sigh, and now I won't get to see him in it. Blah!

Is a mermaid based costume too obvious? Easy to create at home with a pretty bra and saran/shipping wrap ;)

I am not very familiar with an event like that so I am guessing.

I love seeing the kids in costume coming to the door. Unfortunately, I will be in a hotel in Philadelphia for Halloween. But Pup will pass out the candy at home!!

Oohhh no bubble bursting here!! How absolutely perfect for Halloween. Thank you very much for telling me that. Perhaps the colors fits in with the stories because they were both supposed to die, instead they killed and defeated/conquered the evil water serpent/dragon.

Thanks for answering my question!!!

You're welcome!

I was forever being asked who I was mourning when I lived in Japan and Hong Kong, because I wear cream blouses and Sweaters alot, lol! I started to feel as though I needed a sign around my neck saying: "Not in Mourning, just like wearing cream/white". LOL!

My favorite memories of Halloween are with my kids when they were little.

When Brad was around two, i dressed him up as a penquin and from the back he looked exactly like one cause he waddled when he walked. Also, he didn't quite get the whole idea of trick or treat. When we rang a doorbell and they answered, he would just walk on inside. He thought we were there to visit. I had to keep a good grip on him.

When Steve was around seven, i dressed him as a coke can and it had just tiny slits for the eyes. He bumped into everything and even walked right over a mailbox at one point, bending it completely over.

I hold these and so many sweet Halloweeen memories near and dear to my heart. When the little ones come to my door now, and i see their parents standing near by, i know they are making their own precious memories. Makes me smile.

Drive to Canada.
Walk the grounds of Fort George for two hours in pitch blackness, in the cold, dark night.

zombie mechanic/gas attendant

- zombie mask
- arm bandaged up with fake blood
- tattoo wounds
- chain
- gas attendant button shirt (with a white tank under to rip and grease up)
- pliers/squeegee
- jeans
- rags hanging from back pocket (greased up)

Clear plastic dome umbrella + fabric or crepe paper streamers = instant jellyfish costume.

Also, I'm just gonna leave this here in the spirit of the season:
We're A Culture, Not A Costume

Zombie Snow White. I bought a lovely snow white dress, and want to add some scary make-up and messed up hair. I have these fake blood capsules that I can't wait to squirt all over my face tomorrow. :D

Soft*Silver 10-30-2011 09:55 PM

my sig pic shows my costume I wore tonight. I went to a Samhain celebration and the theme this year was the element of water. My daughter went as a person from Atlantis. I myself went as a Sea Crone Goddess. I had this great tie dye top with really loose and big yoga pants, and I had glitter all over my face (as in shiny scales) and stroked on gills on my face. They loved it!

Tomorrow we are handing out candy together, me and the daughter. I am wearing my ceremonial dress and headpiece. Right after,my daughter and I are going to do a private ceremony with just the two of us. I will try to get photos of that as well

Rockinonahigh 10-30-2011 10:56 PM
