the Images of Silver

Silver, being a term used loosely. We have some threads started for posting images of butches, femmes and trans. I posted, asking for images of our community over the age of 40,the older the better. I then thought, why not start a thread of it? Why shouldnt younger community members see us in our glory of aging? Its a beautiful process! So here it is, and I am starting with myself....as you see, my silver is all covered up...

Soft*Silver 10-30-2011 01:30 PM

LOL, to all those who are balking at the use of the term silver, should we change it to a different term? I used 40 as a starting point because 40 is the "teen years" of the mature crowd...

no more photos...how sad...

Qwirky, you are BEAUTIFUL!!!!

clay 10-30-2011 01:37 PM

unable to post pic....as in "inexperienced.

but I DO fit in the "SILVER FOX" crowd and I OWN it...and I wear it...proudly. Gives me character...smiles....

The_Lady_Snow 10-30-2011 01:57 PM

I'm not balking I just don't agree it fits me as a 40 something who also doesn't see it as teen years cause those are the years we've done and did our dumb shit, I'm a woman who's loving being 40 and everything that will, has and hasn't come with that part of my life line. Know what I mean?:)

Toughy 10-30-2011 02:33 PM

tapu............I don't need to lighten up at all.......please don't ever leave me a reputation comment again

(I hate bullshit crappy reputation stuff)

Blade 10-30-2011 03:00 PM

I'm almost 50 and there is no snow on the roof top not even colored just a sprig or two here and there LOL. Looking back I'd have to agree with you Tia the 40's have been a combination of learning years just as the teen years were. Actually I was telling a young adult the other day, it doesn't matter how old you are, at each age you can look back at 5 or 10 years and see what you've learned, and go damn I was stupid. Then again I guess there are those who learned everything they needed to know in life in kindergarten. I don't have a recent picture to prove my lack of silver hair but I have great experiences both good and bad that make me claim and embrace being silver. Thanks for the thread Tia.

Miss Scarlett 10-30-2011 03:30 PM

Great thread Tia!

i'm 52 and have several strands of silver which i don't mind at all. But i still colour my hair because a few years ago my natural dark brown decided to lighten and take on a wierd reddish tone that i don't care for at all.

i like the idea that my 40s were "teen years." Like Blade i did a lot of learning and growing...thankfully i was much wiser than in my "original" teen years...

Sachita 10-30-2011 03:37 PM

If I didn't color it, it would be heavy salt and pepper. I'm getting very close to just letting it go- color, length, all of it.

I read this thread and then remembered that I needed to turn the water off and move some trees in the greenhouse so it does freeze. I have this old barn coat on, my hair pinned up, no make up, jeans and crocs. I cut my finger and I've got blood dripping down. The lawn tractor gets stuck in the mud coming up the hill and the tractor dump is attached with citrus trees. But right where it got stuck there was there this big ray of sun that was beating down on my face. I sat there for 10 minutes enjoying it, stuck in the mud thinking "Now this would be a beautiful picture," This is what 50 looks like.

Rockinonahigh 10-30-2011 03:43 PM

I have little grey hair even at 64,I gess im fourtunat in that cause many of my friends are pretty snowy on top of the mountain...maybe one day just not today.

my lord. i meant it as funny. as in the movie Stripes, "lighten up, frances." I guess I was way off, huh?

And,if you have something private to say to me like that, could you not post it in the thread? It's appreciated.

obviously you were.......

I did not think what I had to say was private. The rep comment could have easily been said in public. I'm not one for saying stuff to relative strangers that I would not say in public.....so I just say it in public.

Anyway.........

I still don't get this thread other than it is another way to post pics and specifically pics of grey....silver....hair.

A celebration of beauty in our golden years. At least that's what I'm getting out of it.

No, silly. It's a way to appreciate, (objectify), you. Just post a damned picture so we can have a nice image to distract us while we're working things we don't enjoy. (Like a &^%$% 501c3 filing. Blaah!)

Please?

WolfyOne 10-30-2011 08:23 PM

I always thought of Silver being 50 something and I claim it
I have more silver running through my hair as I age
I'm still in the learning years stage because I think we all learn something new everyday

I'm not going to post a pic because I see many posted in the gallery of me...
...so, if you have a need to know what I look like, go there

now I have to go find a pic that is not in my gallery and will fit in a post...

Medusa 10-30-2011 09:00 PM

Toughy and Tapu-

I'm getting reported posts about back and forth griping between you two. Y'all, stop it.

Thanks!

bigbutchmistie 10-30-2011 09:17 PM

Im 35 and have salt and pepper hair.

AtLast 10-30-2011 10:04 PM

Hummmm, I have a pic of me to post of a 60 year old butch body, but I might get into trouble with it. Oh, and it was taken at age 58 1/2. Actually, it was taken after I got really tired of how all of the butch calendar "months" I kept seeing were of young butches. Like everyone else, I have things about me that I don't think are that great, but overall, this body has done me proud over 60 years! But my FB friends have seen my aging butch skin shots.

Whoops- have to add that I do have some gray hair, but it kind of blends in with the rest of my hair- kind of a multi-mix of dirty blonde, light brown, chamgaigne (someone told me that) and more blond- I don't think I am a blond really). Damn, I just don't have silver or gray hair genes, I guess- neither of my parents were either even in their 70's and 80's. But, I wish I did have the wonderful salt & pepper hair that many butches have. Looks so great in so many hair styles plus it is thicker.

I'm silver, it's just that I usually wear a ball cap.
I think it's really important that all ages of bodies are celebrated!

See, no silver... phooey! Now, my dog, however is getting gray around the muzzle.

UGH... my hair goes way curley sometimes.

Mtn 10-30-2011 10:54 PM

I started going silver in my early 30's, at 50, I am pretty much more salt than pepper, I'm good with it, I don't think I have the ability to post a pic though. Honoring each and everyone of us as we age though is a cool thing, Thanks Miss Tia.

Lady Pamela 10-31-2011 03:58 AM

My silver comes out in two streaks by my temples..lol
I should dress as young frankenstiens wife one year for halloween.
All I would have to do is rat it and pull it up..ha
And I as well embrace becoming older.
Could do without the ackes and pains though..ha
I am 49 btw will be 50 in February

you, are stunning! And thank you, and to all who have expressed an appreciation for this thread. It worries me that we of age, are not represented proportionately in workshop topics, or photo galleries, or marketing targets. We ARE a good sized handful of our community and we are the ones who plowed thru the tired old cultural hate values to create a safer softer tho not safe or sage enuf world for all of us (yet). We need to be SEEN. Appreciated. Loved. Honored. Treasured. And lusted for!

That's how I was. Just recently I realized that I could no longer say I was prematurely gray.
